To celebrate the 40th anniversary of SAFRA, a slew of special activities and treats over the next eight months are being lined up. There would be a total of 10 movies, 20 events, 30 winners/month and 40 deals/month.So do keep a look out of all these great deals that are coming up!
To kick start their first monthly movie event, there was a lunch reception followed by the screening of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted held at Shaw Theatres Lido Level 5. We were very lucky to get the invitation for this.
As we were early, one representative from SAFRA came up to talk to us. He also volunteered to take this photo of us so that we could join the SAFRA 40 Photo Contest on facebook. At the time I wrote this post, we have luckily won for the month of June with this photo that was submitted. Another pair of movie tickets is on the way!
The arrival of Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of State for Defence and President of SAFRA. The host of the day is Mister Young from Power 98. Sorry about Mr Wong's hand being blurred, he was waving at the public when I snapped the photo.
Blow the candles, cut the cake and cheers! I think they really put 40 candles on the cake. Haha.
SAFRA is 40. Incidentally, Mr Lawrence Wong is 40 years old this year too.

Alright, time for the movie.
We went back to where we were last left off 4 years ago in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa with our beloved Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe still trying to find a way back to their home in New York Central Zoo. They travelled from Africa to Monte Carlo to seek help from the witty penguins and monkeys who promised to come back for them but never did.
Unfortunately, they attracted the attention of Animal Control during the gate crashing of a party in the casino in Monte Carlo. The captain of the Animal Control, Captain Chantel DuBois is ruthless and tried all means to track and captured the escaped animals especially Alex as she needed a lion to complete her animal specimen collections. We see how Dubois crawl on all fours and inhale the air to determined what the scene was like hours ago. Seriously, she has the coolest move and always performing crazy stunts like jumping over bicycles on her bike. It's a hide and seek game between the humans from the Animal Control and the animals which consist of a lion, zebra, hippo, giraffe, four penguins, two monkeys and three lemurs.
Fortunately, along the way, they met a travelling circus belonging to the Circus Zaragoza and joined their train to distract the attention of the Animal Control. The additions of new characters from the travelling circus brings more fun to the movie.
There's Vitaly, the fearless tiger who can jump through rings of all sizes even the one that is as small as the rings we wore on our fingers, Gia, the jaguar with her trapeze, Stefano the sea lion and the cannonball.
Every single animals were not missed out, even the silent bicycle riding bear called Sonya whom King Julien falls in love with. The relationship is so silly they created many funny scenes.
Anyway, the circus crew has lost the energy and excitement they once had after a bad accident that happened to Vitaly years ago. We see how the almost "dead" circus came back alive again as Alex and his friends developed new breathtaking stunts. The stunts with the neon lights and colourful themes combined with an assortment of pop songs like Katy Perry's Fireworks and the amalgamation of Afro Circus creates a fascinating effect which makes Madagascar 3 so spectacular, colourful, lively and appealing to the young, or even the young at heart like me! Hehe. It just makes you want to stand up and dance like them.
Story has a strong theme of friendship, sticking together through thick and thin and also the spirit of not giving up. Really had an enjoyable time watching this movie. Towards the end of the movie, we see the animals back to the zoo but they soon realized they want to be part of the travelling troupe.

I'm so in love with the Afro hairstyle that I went to create my own Afro look with the app called Mad Wig Out. Quite nice right? Love how it's so colourful and hip. Makes me happy looking at it. Haha.
