[Food] Delicious Japanese Pork Fair - Imakatsu + Yakiniku Heijoen

Delicious Japanese Pork Fair campaign was launch on 1st February by Delicious Japan SG. Under this campaign, 6 participating restaurants will each have their own special campaign menu for 1 particular dish that uses only premium Japanese Pork from Hokkaido, Kumamoto and Kagoshima. Diners get to enjoy this dish at a special price just by completing a simple survey online by scanning a QR code found at the restaurant. I've made it to 2 of the participating restaurants on two different days with my friends and I must say I'm super impressed with the quality and taste of the pork.

One of the special features of Japanese Pork is that the production and taste is unique to their own producer and region. With strict quality control, Japan is able to produce over 1.26 million tons of safe and high-quality pork every year making Japanese Pork one of Japan's world-class flavours and quality food.

Imakatsu - Guoco Tower
Kurobuta Pork Katsu Set (130g) ($20, U.P. $30)

Had my dinner here with Kenny and Ck on the first day of the campaign, as it was dinner time, there's not much of a crowd in the CBD area. I love how tender and juicy the Pork Katsu is. The fresh bowl of salad is also super addictive especially after mixing in the sesame sauce.

Yakiniku Heijoen - 100AM Mall
Hokkaido PORK Don Set (Belly) ($9.90++, U.P. $15.90++)

Came here for a mid-week lunch with Ck. The Hokkaido Pork was thinly sliced and comes in a generous serving. I really must gives a two thumbs up to the service here. We were served a glass of cold water when we arrived and a cup of hot green tea when we finished our meal. This is despite we only ordered this special set and didn't even ordered any drinks. They served us the drinks without any extra charges! Was really a very pleasant surprise, I guess I will be back again soon. Thank you so much!

Do note that this campaign ends on different dates for each restaurant and there is also a limited serving daily for the promotion dish per day. It is advisable to call up the restaurant before hand to check with them first before going down.

[Event] P&G ‘Thank You, Mom’ Carnival with Special Olympics Athletes and their Super Moms

Procter & Gamble (P&G)'s global Thank You, Mom campaign is back to Singapore for the 6th consecutive year and in partnership with NTUC FairPrice, a carnival was jointly organized and held at the Rainbow Centre for the Special Olympics athletes and their mothers to celebrate the upcoming Mother's Day.

Under the theme "Because of You, I can", the carnival celebrates a mother's role as her child's first and greatest enabler - the one who sees her child's true potential and helps them become who they are. This event puts the spotlight on mothers of the Special Olympics athletes, who give their all in overcoming challenges and struggles so that their children can excel in the sports they've chosen. These stories, in turn became a true inspiration for others.

There was a brief touching moment during the carnival when an exclusive short film produced with the Special Olympics athletes was screened. In the video, we see the Special Olympics athletes Shaman Pandian S/O Jeyabalan (400m athletics, silver), Siti Nurhamizah Binte Hamzah (singles bowling, silver), Priyadarshani D/O Jeyabalan (400m athletics, bronze), Siti Nurhamizah Binte Hamzah (double bowling, bronze), and Siau Ek Jin (50m breaststroke, bronze) paying tribute to their mothers who have defied the odds to enable them to excel in their respective sports.

"You wake up earlier than the sun, I wonder if you sleep at all?" This is one line in the video which really resonate with me, as my Mom has always and still is the one who wakes up the earliest in the whole family just to prepare breakfast and wakes us up.

Guest of Honor Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District and a disability rights activist giving a speech. The one big takeaway from her speech that I've got was when she mentioned the three different stages in living life.

At the Survival Stage, one has accepted their fate and lives and are not leading their lives, they are merely surviving. At the Successful Stage, one has achieved their dreams. At the Significance Stage, one will poured their own lives out in order to bless others as well and that impacted people's lives at a deeper level.

Not many of us can reached the stage of being significant to others. We usually just tend to aim to be successful or to have a stable life for ourselves.

At the end of the presentation, a cheque of $20,000 was presented to the Special Olympics Singapore from P&G and NTUC FairPrice to showcase the strong commitment to the Special Olympics community that lead the way in being a force for good.

It was a fun-filled afternoon for the Special Olympics athletes, their mothers and the distinguished guests and the media. We were given a booklet of carnival tickets which can be used to exchange for snacks, drinks and the carnival games. Rena and I had lots of fun playing and snacking. We even made some new friend there and this brother is so kind to help Rena played the basketball.

When Rena became a little helper to pick up the rings that were dropped on the floor at one of the games stall. So, she was carried up to had a go for herself. I'm quite surprised that she allowed this big sister to carry her.

We also get to design our own tote bag so that everyone has their own unique tote bag to bring home. It was really a great idea to provide us with the stencils if not I would not have know what to draw on my bag.

Now that I am a mother myself, I can truly understand how our child sees us to be a good role model for them to follow and how much time and energy we had to put in. Thus, I really salute and admire those mothers of the special olympics athletes. Thank you for the invitation to allow me to join in this fun carnival and be part of this special campaign.

Some post-event photos where Rena was having so much fun running and playing with the other kids. Before we left, she even posed for me to take photos.

Mothers are the unsung heroes in our families who inspire us to be the best of ourselves; through this campaign, we take the time to collectively show our appreciation to all mothers in our community.”

Dr Teo-Koh Sock Miang, President of Special Olympics Singapore said, “Our Special Olympics athletes would not have been able to strive as hard and achieve as much without the unwavering support of their mothers. On Mother’s Day, we would like to shine the spotlight on the women who do not hesitate in making sacrifices so that their children may triumph in the face of adversity. We are indebted to their unconditional love, which enables our athletes to continually reach for excellence.”

[EVENT] #LoveOverBias High Tea in Celebration of Mother's Day

"Thank You, Mom" campaign has been ongoing for the fifth consecutive year and this year Procter & Gamble in partnership with NTUC FairPrice, organized it under the theme of #LoveOverBias, recognizing the key role of mothers' unconditional love and support to their children in overcoming the challenges and biases they face in their day to day life.

Held over a high tea event at Blu Meze, the event was graced by special guest Ms. Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower.

"We want to honour and appreciate all mothers. They are the heartbeat of each family. They bind the family together, and create that firm and secure foundation for us to grow and develop our potential. They are our society's unique force, connecting and nurturing our future generations for the better." said Ms. Low Yen Ling during her welcome speech.

In support of Special Olympics Singapore and that Mother's Day is just around the corner, Ms. Low also paid tribute to the Special Olympics Singapore athletes and their mothers.

Guests were invited to get their photos printed at a fun photo booth and enjoying the high tea session. The main highlight of the high tea delicacy has got to be this special dish prepared by celebrity chef Forest Leong which is the Roasted Lemongrass Chicken Roulade with Mixed Mushroom Medley.

During the sharing session, two mothers of the Special Olympics Singapore athletes, Ms Doris Lee and Ms Karen Yeo shared with us their journey from identifying the special talent of their kids, finding the organizations that supports them and finally participating in the Special Olympics.

The event closed with a cheque presentation of S$20,000 to Special Olympics Singapore on behalf of P&G and NTUC FairPrice.

Being a new mom, I also received a stalk of rose from them. Motherhood is already such a tough journey, let alone the mothers of kids with special needs. Really have to salute them.

Movember : Gillette - The Big Shave-In with Fandi Ahmad & Nazri Nasir

Movember is an annual charity initiative that encourages men to grow a moustache (Mo) during the month of November to create conversation and raise both awareness and funds in support of the often neglected men's health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer.

To commemorate the first day of Movember, Singapore's favourite footballers Fandi Ahmad and Nazri Nasir teamed up with Gillette to do a live Shave-in at Robinsons, The Heeren.

Supporters of Movember and local football fans get to witness this memorable sight of the Fooballing icons shaving away their moustache live at the launch event.

A life-sized artistic portrait of Fandi Ahmad, who is a Movember ambassador and friend of Gillette was also concurrently shaved for Movember.

How Movember works is that male supporters are to start off the month with a clean shave-in, before growing a Mo while raising funds over the course of thirty days. The funds raised in Singapore will goes towards the Singapore Cancer Society. To date, Movember has raised over $166 million in funds to support prostate cancer research and men's health programmes globally.

"Aside from Championing the cause, growing a moustache in style can be made easy for all male participants with Gillette as the official shavecare partner." shared Fandi Ahmad.

So, go ahead and take your pick from this chart of moustaches.

Disclaimer: All photos aboved do not belongs to me. Was supposed to go down to this event but didn't had the time but still wanted to share this campaign, thus the post.

I can have moustache props even though I am not able to grow a moustache. Photo taken at Flee Away Cafe which I will blog about it in my later post. Stay tuned.
