[OUTING] Adventure Cove Waterpark + Dolphin Island at RWS

On the last Sunday of the year, I went to have a splashing good time at the Adventure Cove Waterpark, RWS as I've won myself one admission ticket to the Adventure Cove plus Dolphin Island from the SEAA Blue Planet Instagram Contest. Didn't have any photos inside the Adventure Cove as our phones were all locked up in the locker.

The park is fairly small and super crowded compared to the waterpark I went to at Legoland. There was already some delay of about 20 minutes at the entrance as they process my admission tickets and each ride inside takes about half an hour to 45 minutes waiting time. Oh, and I found the floor super painful to walk on barefooted. I'm not sure why.

Out of the 15 water attractions, three of them requires separate admission charges - Dolphin Island, Ray Bay and Shark Encounter.

The only attraction that we find attractive and can't be found at Legoland waterpark is the Rainbow Reef whereby one can snorkel with 20,000 friendly fish over a colourful Rainbow Reef. Waiting time is approx 1hr and 45 minute for this though. Since I have reserved my time slot to the Dolphin Island at 5pm, we decided to skip this and the rides and just went to the Adventure River or commonly known as The Lazy Pool that brings us through 14 themed zones including a lush garden, a mysterious grotto and an underwater tunnel experience where we watched stingrays swimming around. We also went to the Bluewater Bay or commonly known as The Wave Pool twice to relax.

Just outside the Dolphin Island - 'Experience it today. Remember it forever' is their tagline. The dolphin looks so 3D here.

Inside the Dolphin Island, there's a wide range of programmes that lets you interact with the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins and learn more about them and they all comes in a different price tag. I went in alone and I was on the Dolphin Discovery program which cost S$98 if I have not won the ticket. For those who just want to go inside but do not wish to get down to the water, it would cost S$68.

Bf found a spot at the second level and took photos and videos of me interacting with the dolphin through the grill! Thank you for the hard work and finding this nice spot. Hehe. Photo taking was not allowed inside as they have their own professional photographer to capture the special moments. Thus, all these photos and videos inside are sneakily taken.

The Dolphin Discovery program is suitable for non-swimmers with towels and wetsuits provided. Guests must be at least 4 years old to enter and Children below 110cm in height must be carried by a paying adult during the interaction.

We had an up-close interaction with the dolphin under the guidance of the dolphin trainer, Victoria. We also learn some interesting facts about the dolphins and some hand signals to communicate with them. The dolphin's skin was so smooth because it shed off their dead skin every two hours!

Kissing and playing some tricks with the dolphin all under the shallow water. Everyone in the group take turns to have individual time with the dolphin. Check out my videos interacting with the dolphin on my instagram profile @chewyjas

I enjoyed the lovely precious moment with the dolphin. If Quokka is the happiest animal on land, dolphin would be the happiest animal underwater. ^^ The aboved two closed-up photo with a leather folder cost $75. However, I felt the need to buy since these are the only closed-up photos of me with the dolphin and since my admission tickets is already complimentary.

Leaving Sentosa via the Sentosa Broadwalk to Vivo City for our dinner at JPot and I used a $50 mapletree voucher to pay part of it. Voucher won from the Innovati50n Instagram photo contest. Today is the day to use up my vouchers since the year is ending soon. Hope I will continue to be so lucky always. Thank you.

XOXO

Movember at Flee Away Cafe

Remember my previous post on Movember (Read post here), about growing a moustache during the month of November to create awareness in support of Men's health issues? I've found a cafe that fully endorse this good cause!

Flee Away Cafe was on my Instagram and I checked my instagram account, @chewyjas  hourly (Oops, later my boss think I'm not working) daily so I am sort of curious about their Le Char Kuey which is their specialty.

On that fateful day, I saw how the staff were promoting on Movember with the props and felt that it might be a good opportunity to give them a visit.

There are plenty of these kind of moustache props to play around with and they've also got different designs. Took so much photos even before I start ordering.

The bf looking sad. I used a different moustache design on him but he look so sad. I see already also feel sad. Must be too hungry!

Stopped selfie-ing and let's see what to order. A very simple one page menu where the food and desserts are all in. No need to headache over what to eat.

Le Char Kuey explained! Basically it's the replace of a French Baguette with dough fritter. Very creative right? Le is derived from French and Char Kuey is simply the fried You Tiao in Chinese.

Le Char Kuey with Dry Laksa ($15.50). This is marked with chef recommendation. The good thing about eating this dish is that I need not worry about any laksa gravy staining on my nice top! The taste of laksa is not even being compromise and they really put in every ingredients you will find in a real bowl of laksa. Definitely a must-order dish. Thumbs up for the creativity and innovation.

Salmon with Capers, Onions and Cream Cheese ($15.50). After eating the one filled with dry laksa, this tend to be more of a safe option. Nothing much to be raved about. Still good though.

Irish Cream Mud Pie ($9.50). This is based on the chef's recommendation sign again. Yummy dessert after the meal. It's made of chocolate ice cream with a bit of irish cream liquor and topped with white and dark chocolate flakes. It's yummy but I felt that the price is a bit too high for desserts.

The bf feeling happier after eating! :)

The whole cafe gives me a very cozy and happy feeling. Every inch of this little cafe is well decorated with old school items.

This sewing machine belongs to my grandma's generation!

After eating, you can also shop at their "retail corner". You might just get to find that nostalgic toys that you've been looking high and low for.

Maps for tourists are well stashed.

Before we left the cafe, found this two cinema seats that were different from the rest overlooking the small road outside. I guess it's great to sometime slow down, take a break and enjoy.

Total damage was $40.50 for this meal.
This cafe don't charge GST or Service Charges.

[Movie] Gone Girl

GONE GIRL MOVIE TRAILER

From the movie title and trailer, everyone would have thought that this is a kidnapping or murder movie. However as the plot slowly reveals itself, it turned out that everything is more than meet the eyes and the main mastermind behind everything is actually the 'Gone Girl' herself.

Based on the novel written by Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl is the latest film directed by David Fincher, who is also the director for one of my favourite film, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in 2008.

Ben Affleck plays Nick Dunne, the husband of Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), whose mysterious disappearance on their fifth anniversary make up of the whole movie. In the trailer, the voice-over of Amy (taken from her diary) shows how the married couple struggles in their relationship before her disappearance, of which Nick deny. The trailer ends with "this man may truly killed me" with the image of what appears to be Amy's dead body in the water is what makes this movie seems like a thriller when it's not.

MAIN CHARACTERS

Amy Dunne AKA Amazing Amy to the general public for being the lead character of a series of children's books written by her parents. This make her disappearing case a high profile one as she's influential enough. She fake her own death and gain the sympathy of the public media by portraying herself to be the suffering one, at the same time framing Nick as a form of revenge for his infidelity. She's intelligent and at the same time a beautiful psychopath who not only frame her husband but also make up rape allegations against men. I really have to give Rosamund Pike two thumbs up for her ability to bring out the double character.

Nick Dunne world was turned upside down after investigations leads him being suspected for killing his wife, Amy Dunne. His image draws even more negative feed backs as he is seen posing and smiling beside Amy's missing person poster and was found out to have an affair with his student Andie (Ratajkowski) during a press conference. His image to the public improves when he hires Tanner Bolt (Perry) to be his defense lawyer. He went on a talk show to apologized for his failure and sincerely swears that he loves Amy and he did not killed him. This segment was being watched by Amy and it rekindles her feelings for him.

Desi Collings was one of Amy's former rich boyfriend. Living in a private and secluded lake house which is full of security cameras, this make him seems a little too creepy than normal. When Amy turned to him for help, he was lead into the delusion that he and Amy can be together again. His role has got the most tragic ending as Amy slices his throat during their bedroom scene. This part is damn gross as blood just splash out onto Amy. Amy returned home and even claims Desi kidnapped and raped her, which is not true but this helps to clear Nick of suspicion. Tragic is that Desi believes that Amy loves him till the day he was killed by her.

Redeem a pair of ticket from my ANZ credit cards to catch this movie when one of my friend told me on FB that she's planning to watch this and this is one movie I went to watch the trailer before the actual movie. I feel the need to share it as I thought it's one of the best movies I watched in October. More reviews to come! Main focus of the movie is properly on the damage relationship of the couple and how when faced under fear and prolong anger, can cause someone to be so drastic in action.

Movie Night with LUCY

Image Souce : IMDB
We have been anticipating the release of LUCY after watching the trailer that was shown in the cinema. From the trailer, we kind of expected this movie to be a sci-fiction thriller. Was very curious to find out what kind of incredible powers Lucy, acted by Scarlett Johansson will possess when she unlocks her brain's potential up to the maximum of 100% and begin to have incredible powers. So we went to watch it the day it was released.

Lucy the australopithecus! Picture Source Here
This movie turned out to be more philosophical than sci-fi. There's discussions based on a lot of assumptions of what we already know and what we didn't know. I love how Director Luc Besson created the whole movie with intersperse of clips of wild animals and nature sceneries. There are like clips out of the National Geographical Channel. In fact, in the opening scene, we see this Chimp in prehistoric times drinking from a lake (later we find out that this Chimp is called Lucy, an australopithecus). A narration begins by asking this open question, "Life was given to us a billion years ago. What have we done with it?"

Lucy was forced by her newly attached boyfriend to deliver a mysterious, locked briefcase to a man called Mr Jang, acted by South Korean actor Choi Min-Sik who can only speak in Korean and washes his bloody hand (he kills without blinking) with Evian water. The briefcase turned out to contain four packets of blue powder called CPH4. Lucy was so called "offered a job" but she declined and she was knocked out with a punch.

The scene cut off to introduce the other character. Professor Norman, acted by Morgan Freeman. He played a renowned neuroscientist and was giving a lecture on cerebral capacity. He mentioned that human beings use only 10% and that dolphins use 20% and thus has the power to echolocate. He concluded that if humans could reach up to 40% of our cerebral capacity, we would be able to manipulate matter but when asked what would happen if humans brain reach 100%, he says he has no idea.

"If its habitat is not sufficiently favourable, or nurturing, the cell will choose immortality, in other words, self-sufficiency and self management. On the other hand, if the habitat is favourable, they will choose to reproduce - that way, when they die, they hand essential information and knowledge to the next cell, which hands it down to the next cell, and so on. Thus knowledge and learning are handed down, through time."

The scene cuts back to Lucy. The "job" that she and three other guys were offered was to transport the blue packets to their assigned destination. The blue packet was already placed inside each of their body. While transporting her to the airport, one of the thugs kicked her in the lower abdomen, causing the plastic containing the CPH4 to break and a small quantity was absorbed into Lucy's system. That is also when it shows that she started gradually unlocking her brain's capacity.

"Time is the only true unit of measure, it gives proof to the existence of matter, without time, we don't exist." She explained how when a car is fast forward by infinity times, it will disappear. Can't even see the car anymore.

Leads me to think of this quote.

Lucy's Special Power

She begins to lurch herself all over the room including up the walls reaching the ceiling until she falls back to the ground and her eyes changing colours.

She can choose not to feel pain. She went to the nearest hospital, asked the doctor to cut open her stomach to remove the remaining packet of the blue powder inside her body. All done without using any anesthesia. Throughout the operation, she was on the line with her mother and telling her mother how she can feels everything - the air, the blood in her veins, the deepest parts of her memories, like when she was sick as a child or even petting a cat when she was barely one. But she cannot feel the pain of the operating knife.

She is now able to do translation in her brain. She can even tell what illness her friend is suffering from just by looking at her. She can also control the electrons and contacted the professor, appearing on the TV screen at the professor's house.

She is now able to changed into any looks that she desire. She changed her hair from blond to black so that she won't be recognised.

She now display different forms of teleknesis, psychokinesis, able to read cell-phone conversation by picking them out. Creating invisible walls, controlling others movement just by standing there and not laying a fingers on them.

At 90% to 99%, she has absorbed the three other packets of the CPH4 and she started moving through time and space with a black dress and sitting on an office chair. She visits Times Square, encounter dinosaurs and back to meeting Lucy the australopithecus.

At 100%. she just disappear out of her black dress. The machines in the room turned into something black and eventually became a thumbdrive that was offered to Professor Norman. A handphone message that reads, "I am everywhere." appears to be from Lucy.

Movie closed with, "Life was given to us a billion years ago. Now you know what to do with it."
