Premiere screening of Elementary Season 3 : Episode 1 - Enough Nemesis To Go Around

Elementary Season 3 returns with the first episode premiering on 12 November. Went for their premiere screening at The Screening Room for a one episode session and that is enough to get me hooked to the series with the love-hate relationship between Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miler) and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu).

In this episode, Sherlock is back in New York together with his new apprentice, Kitty Winter (Ophelia Lovibond). He is desperate to get back into NYPD but first he has to get back into Watson's life. During the period of his absence, Watson had already firmly established herself as a solo consultant in the NYPD and she has to give the approval for Sherlock to work with the NYPD again.

THE MYSTERY

The witness and her police guard are both shot to death in an elevator while on the way to the courthouse to testify. The elevator descended straight to ground floor without the door opening once and without taking a longer than normal time. So, how was the murder committed? Watson and the police took over two months and still unable to figure out.

MYSTERY SOLVED

Sherlock did up a model and found out that a giant electromagnet could be used to pull the bullets through the victims. The whole device would have weighed a ton and the assassin have to smuggle it in pieces and later assemble it in a concealed space of the hotel. His conclusion was right.

THOUGHTS

Despite the serious, detective genre of this series, the premiere is still able to bring out some humor, There was some parts that viewers was laughing out. I guess it's worth watching to see how they solved different crimes as well as the development of the characters.

Thank you for the invites, don't forget to catch Elementary Season 3 at 9:00 pm every Wednesday from 12 November on RTL CBS Entertainment HDSingTel mio TV Channel 318 and StarHub Channel 509.

Exclusive premiere screening of House Of Cards

Went for the exclusive premiere screening of House of Cards at The Screening Room with Jessie and Terence. As though they knew that one episode of this highly captivating drama is not enough, we were shown two episodes that night!

House of Cards was originally a UK TV drama from the 1990s and now remade by Netflix in 2013 with the setting changed from London to Washington, DC. It is an American political drama TV series so highly rated that even the US President, Mr Obama tweeted about it.

Kevin Spacey acted as Congressman Frank Underwood
He plays the role of this cold, scheming and power hungry Frank so well that it would send chills down your spine. In the first few minutes of the opening scene of House of Cards, he murdered a dog with the following saying.

Source : Google Search
"I have no patience for useless things."

True enough, he have no patience for useless things. He pursues with his own political agenda and manipulates almost everyone around him in order for him to grab influence.

Robin Wright as Claire Underwood
Just like the husband, Claire Underwood proves to be as cold, manipulative and power-hungry as her husband. She get somebody to fire over half of the NGO's staff in order to secure funds for her own plans. In the end, she fired that somebody too. This couple truly displayed the husband-wife teamwork and she's someone so strong that she's the type who refused to be left out of any plans.

No wonder Frank loves her wife more than sharks love blood!

Kate Mara as Zoe Barnes
She's a young reporter for The Washionton Herald. She is just like one of the piece to be manipulated by Frank. In the first two episodes, both of them form a sort of "deal" to use each other for advancement in their careers. She thought that with the stories Frank leak out to her, she will be climbing up the ranks real fast, but does she have the real control of power to do that?

Big thanks for the invites. If I have to end my post with a statement, I would say, "it's a dog eat dog world." It's either you are using someone or you are being used. Terence was so engrossed in the show he can watched another few more episodes. He even pointed out the upside down American flag with the stars removed. Flying the American flag upside down is an officially recognized signal of distress.

House of Cards will be premiering on 28 May 2014, Wednesday at 9.55pm on the RTL CBS Entertainment HD Channel 318 on mioTV. Watch it and you will not regret!

Preview screening of RTL CBS drama - INTELLIGENCE @ The Screening Room

Attended an exclusive preview screening of the new CBS drama series - INTELLIGENCE at The Screening Room before it officially debut in Singapore. Intelligence has a high number of viewership in United States (16.6 million viewers. Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-ratings-intelligence-samples-well-669169) and is therefore one of the most-watched new series premiere of the season. It looks like it will be the next talked about drama in Asia too.

Some finger food while we mingled around before the preview starts.

RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network is a joint venture between RTL Group and CBS Studio International, two of the World's biggest media powerhouses.

SYNOPSIS

Starring Josh Holloway as Gabriel, a high-tech intelligence operative who has a super computer microchip implanted in his brain. With this implant, he became the first human ever to be connected directly to the Worldwide information grid and have complete access to internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data. His main purpose is to protect the United States from its enemies as he can hack into any data center and access key intel.

Supporting him is his Director for the elite government cyber-security agency, Lillian Strand (Marg Helgenberger) who is a straightforward and efficient boss and oversees the unit's missions. Strand assigns Riley Neal (Meghan Ory), a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats and his disregard for protocol.

Other skilled members of the Cybercom team include Chris Jameson (Michael Rady) and Gonzalo "Gonzo" Rodriguez (James Martinez), two resourceful federal investigators. The brains behind the design of the chip is Dr. Shenendoah Cassidy (John Billingsley), whose son, Nelson (PJ Byrne), is jealous of Gabriel’s prominent place in his father’s life. As the first supercomputer with a beating heart, Gabriel is the most valuable piece of technology the country has ever created and is a U.S. secret weapon.

With a microchip in a human's brain, they are obviously going to be more human than machine whereby emotions rule more often than the chip. Thus, in the first episode, we see his reckless and unpredictable behavior as he try to search for his wife instead of the bigger picture, meaning National Security.

Casts as follows

Josh Holloway ("Lost") as Gabriel
Marg Helgenberger ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation") as Lillian Strand
Meghan Ory ("Once Upon a Time") as Riley Neal
Michael Rady ("The Mentalist") as Chris Jameson
James Martinez ("Gravity") as Gonzalo Rodriguez
John Billingsley ("True Blood") as Dr. Cassidy
P.J. Byrne ("Wolf of Wall Street") as Nelson Cassidy.

Michael Seitzman, René Echevarria, Tripp Vinson and David Semel (for pilot) are executive producers for ABC Television Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.

With Stefanie who coincidentally wore the same Black and White OOTD today! Haha. Both of us enjoyed this Science Fiction thriller very much and Episode 1 left us wanting to know more of what will happened next.

“Intelligence” will debut on Singapore television on Channel 318 RTL-CBS, mio TV on Tuesday, 11 February 2014, at 9.55pm.

[G+ EXCLUSIVE] mioTV US TV marathon at Naumi Hotel

Our Nuffnang G+ event today was held at this boutique hotel called Naumi which is located at the City Hall district. I must be real absorbed in my own world to have missed such a nice and big signage on the outside and walked passed it without realizing that I've reached. Have to do a U-turn and walked back. Luckily I'm still considered early. Only Hui Wen (our Nuffnang person-in-charge of the day) and Xue Ling have reached.

The pass to Room 304 whereby we are in for an afternoon of fairy tales, humor, suspense and horror all in the next five hours! Being a couch potato on a lazy Saturday afternoon certainly beats going home and have nothing to do.

WOW. Such a comfortable looking bed! Together with this dim lighting, I'm having a huge fight with my sleepy bugs. :X

Moving on to the living room is where we find a comfortable spot for our next five hours of mioTV US TV marathon!

Hp is super fast at choosing this comfortable rocking chair. So relaxing! With Peishi in the background. Only get to know her today.

Me and Xue Ling whom I also just get to know recently. She helped me to take most of the photos today. Hehe.

A stack of the latest mioTV Guides for us to learn more of the current mioTV highlights and listings and another stack of brochures which introduce the 10 On Demand US dramas which we can watch as early as 24 hours after their US telecast! No more having to wait for months or years for them to be broadcast in Singapore. Now we just need 24 hours before your can watch it on mioTV!! COOL! For more information, do visit their website at http://www.singtel-ustv.com/ Inside the brochure were also the synopsis of the few US dramas we are going to watch in our TV marathon. Highly popular Glee and Gossip Girl were also available. (Thanks Jacke the Deputy Director, IPTV Promotion of Singtel for his friendly introduction and explanation to us on the mioTV part.)

Some delicious snacks for us to munch on while enjoying the dramas!

Hart of dixie
Once Upon a Time
Revenge
Happy Endings
2 Broke Girls
American Horror Story

A feel-good drama from the producers of Gossip Girl and the O.C. I liked the way it's like a first person narration.

Our favourite fairy-tale characters are trapped and lost all memories of their identities. This drama switches between their current life and also life before they lost their memories in the fairy tale world. Pretty confusing but intriguing.

The title says it all. Revenge is all about how Emily plots to take revenge on a wealthy family who wronged her father in the past. This drama keeps me in suspense.

Happy endings but we only watched the first episode so cannot comment whether the ending is really happy or not.

A real comedy between this two waitress who started as strangers but later become roommates and bosom friends. their two contrasting personalities stir up a lot of funny scenes.

And they choose this drama to be shown at the last when it's getting kind of dark outside. American horror story is about one already dysfunctional family who decided to move to start life afresh but ended up moving into a haunted mansion. Crazy things start happening. I find this drama more disturbing rather than scary.

So actually my home is subscribing to the SingTel Mio Home plan.

I also have this mio box at home but previously when the salesman promoted to my father about the mioTV channels, I wasn't at home. In the end, my father signed what he recommended and that is the Mei Ah Channel which is ok for me and another called mom-on-demand Channel which I felt that I'm paying $13+ for a channel that we didn't even watch. Out of frustration, we have terminate this two channels and kept the mio box in the storeroom. Now, after going to this US TV marathon, I might consider connecting it back to the TV and order some US series to watch for watching just one episode is definitely not enough. Once again, thanks Nuffnang and SingTel for the invites!
