[Event] Public Preview of Circle Line 6 CCL6

After years in the making,
the Circle Line is finally a full circle!

The loop is finally closed with three stations added between HarbourFront and Marina Bay MRT stations and the stations are Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road. I brought my girl to the public preview before it officially opens for passenger service on 12 July 2026.

We started out at Marina Bay MRT station and were greeted by the cheerful balloon lady. The public preview allows complimentary entry and exit from here and within the three preview stations.

PRINCE EDWARD ROAD CC32

"Doppler" by Gerald Leow explores how unseen forces such as sound, motion and perception shape our everyday experiences. Inspired by the Doppler effect and the movement of ship propellers around Prince Edward Road, the spiral steel sculpture represent the dynamic relationship between science, movement and art.

Some of the activities at Prince Edward Road station. We didn't complete all of them as the queues were pretty long for some.

KEPPEL CC30

By right, the next station after Prince Edward Road should be Cantonment station, but because the stamp card collection was at Keppel, we skipped Cantonment first and went to Keppel station.

The two animal statues found at Keppel stations: Elimu, the baby black rhino and Arin, the baby Indian elephant.

The tunneling story of Keppel Station. Building the tunnels between Cantonment and Keppel stations was challenging because the most direct route passed beneath the foundations of the Keppel Viaduct. Engineers had to use an advanced technique as a solution to this.

Some of the activities and booths at Keppel station. We even got a paper collage of an SBS bus which we can use it to build the 3D model.

Interestingly, there is also a bicycle park area, which is actually quite big.

CANTONMENT CC31

Inspired by the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, Cantonment Station features elegant curved ceilings and stained-glass murals that make it one of the most unique stations on the Circle Line. There was a VR station and a Knackstop pop-up selling cool merchandise, but we didn't get any. My girl and I got separately for a while at this station as she didn't managed to board the train before the doors closed.

I went back to Prince Edward Road station to get the last stamp and also the souvenir. It was a Prince Edward Road tag! The Curious Cassie's Adventure is completed!

We headed back to Keppel MRT station, but the MRT wasn't operating to HarbourFront yet, so we exited the station and took a bus to HarbourFront instead to go to the next event at VivoCity.

With the Circle Line now a complete loop, Singapore's MRT network is more connected than ever. It's amazing to see how our rail system continue to grow, making travelling around more convenient for everyone. I can't wait for the upcoming Cross Island Line and Jurong Region Line to open which will definitely brings an even more seamless connections across the island!

[Event] Celebration of CROQUANT CHOU ZAKUZAKU Opening in Singapore

Croquant Chou Zakuzaku, the sister brand of Hokkaido's popular BAKE Cheese Tart has finally arrived in Singapore and its flagship store will replace the former BAKE Cheese Tart outlet in Ion Orchard on 30th November 2019.

To celebration this launch, two preview sessions were held at The Canvas Club for the media as well as the loyal supporters of BAKE Cheese Tart. I am so glad to be able to attend the media session in the afternoon with CK Chai and Jessie. Many thanks to Kenny for extending the invite. I am a big fan of BAKE Cheese Tart and I remembered joining the never ending queue during the initial craze to get my hands on those cheese tarts so I am super excited to find out more about this new snack that will be hitting our shore.

"We are very honoured to be able to open a flagship store in Singapore. We have been eyeing to open the store for a long time in a trendy location, and have finally been able to do so in ION Orchard. We hope that Croquant Chou Zakuzaku can become a brand that is loved by Singaporeans who are interested in high quality sweets and dessert items" -- Mr Hajime Kikuchi (Director)

After the introduction, we were each given a cup with one of their famous Croquant Chou and limited edition ZAKUZAKU Jingle Berry (filled with strawberry custard cream and topped with white chocolate and freeze dried framboise), just for the Christmas season to try. It was love at first bite for me as I'm a sweet tooth person.

The best part came when we got to DIY our own Croquant Chou with the toppings available.

The outer layer of the famous Croquant Chou is made of a blend of flour and almonds coated with sugar and egg white, while its custard cream filling is made from fine milk. Basically, it is a stick-type of cream puff that has a unique crunchy texture with fresh cream oozing out. So convenient that one can enjoy it on the move while shopping. This is also in line with the company's brand tagline "All the good stuff in one hand" which expresses how everyone can enjoy high quality & freshly made ZAKUZAKU, all in one hand!

Apart from the renowned Croquant Chou (retail at $2.80 and $10.50 for a set of 4), the store will also offer Soft Serve ice cream, "ZAKUZAKU SOFT" (retail at $6 regardless cup or cone), made purely with Hokkaido Milk and coated with croquant chunks and also "HIYAZAKU" (retail for $3.80), crispy puff containing soft ice-cream. With the promises to carry on the Japanese brand philosophy by offering only the best quality baked snacks, consumers can be sure to enjoy freshly baked Croquant Chou. Even the cream is filled on the spot and consumers will be able to witness the entire process of making the Croquant Chou.

I attended the preview screening of  Kikoriki: Déjà Vu with my family. This was the first time Rena stepped into a movie theatre even though this movie is more suitable for kids aged 6 and above. It was quite an experience and she did kick up a fuss in the middle of the movie. I had to bring her out to clam her down. The movie was about this cute, restless blue bunny called Krash who decided to organise an unforgettable birthday bash for his friends. He contacts the Déjà Vu agency and the group ended up in a journey through time travel in different periods of history.

[MOVIE] Preview Screening of A DOG'S PURPOSE

Based on the novel of the same title written by W. Bruce Cameron is a light-hearted and adorable movie directed by Lasse Hallstrom. This movie is about a dog trying to figure out his purpose in life over the course of four reincarnations as four different dog breeds while keeping all the memories of his previous existence. Shared from the dog's perspective, we were shown the life of the dog from birth to death except for the last life where the dog reunites with his original owner again.

In the first life, the dog is a Golden Retriever called Bailey being rescued by young boy called Ethan and his mother. Bailey accompanied Ethan through his childhood and teenage days, seeing Ethan through happy periods like playing together, falling in love and through sad moments like how his parents got separated, his home got destroyed by fire, his legs got injured and his breaking-up with his first love. He went through all these with Ethan till he died of old age.

Bailey reincarnated into a female German Shepherd K-9 called Ellie and works together as a team with a police officer called Carlos. She died after being shot during a kidnapping rescue operation. Before she died, she managed to save the kidnapped girl from drowning.

Next, Ellie reincarnated as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi called Tino. Tino has a very close relationship with Maya, a college student and sort of helped his lonely owner and himself find true loves. Tino led one of his best lives before dying of old age.

Lastly, Tino reincarnated to a Saint Bernard called Buddy. He was taken in by a couple but was being neglected and abandoned. After which, Buddy managed to find his way to where he stayed in his first life and find his first owner, Ethan who has already become a middle-aged man. Buddy helps Ethan to reconnect with his first love, Hannah and they ended up happily married. The last scene shows how Buddy managed to convince Ethan that he was actually Bailey with a trick that only the both of them knew.

Although I'm not a pet owner but the movie left me tearing at one point and laughing most of the time. The different lives show different stories of how the dog was being treated by their owner and how they find their purpose and remain as a loyal companion, true to how they were referred to as 'a man's best friend'.

Preview tickets thanks to +CF Chai for bringing me along.

[MOVIE] Preview Screening of School Tales เรื่องผีมีอยู่ว่า

Every school will bound to have their own horror tales that were being passed down from the seniors to the juniors.

In this Thai horror movie, School Tales directed by Pass Patthanakumjon, a group of band members stayed back in the school for rehearsal and decided to share the spooky stories they know and test them out themselves to see how real the stories are. The group split into pairs to explore three different parts of their school compound.

SPOOKY TALE #1 - THE GHOST WHO KEPT ASKING 'WHERE?'

Top and Net explored the old school building to look for the ghost of a former school boy called Yak who had fallen from the stairs and died. Any person who goes there at night would heard his spirit asking, 'where'.

SPOOKY TALE #2 - THE GHOST WHO GOES 'SHHH'

Song and Pete explored the ghost in the school library who appears when you scream in the empty library. The ghost with a hideous face would 'shhh' that person with the silence action

SPOOKY TALE #3 - THE GHOST WHO APPEARS WHEN YOU PLAY A SERIES OF NOTES ON THE FLUTE

The two girls, May and Cream explored the old music room to summon the ghost of Pawadee by blowing a series of nine specific musical notes on the flute and staring at the mirror.

SPOOKY TALE #4 - THE TWIST IN THE END

It was later revealed that the ghosts all have some unfinished purpose to settle thus their spirits still lingers in the school building. The stories also revolved around common problems students or even teachers faced in school, such as bullying, spreading malicious rumours and out-casting another person. It was thus the students mission to help the ghosts to settle their unfinished purpose and only until then, they can all find peace.

There is also a twist at the end of the movie which I shall not reveal. The horror element is minimum but there is a nice mystery plot which I appreciate even better after discussing with my friends at the end of the movie.

Big thanks to Meryl for bringing me along to this movie preview.
