Chinese New Year Day 7 : Sentosa Boardwalk to Sentosa Flowers - Enchanted Spring 人日去圣淘沙春节花会之绮域之旅

The seventh day of the Chinese New Year is also the common man's birthday or 人日。So Happy birthday and I'm celebrating this day with my parents! We are going to the Sentosa Flowers (last day of Sentosa's annual floral extravaganza event) by foot on a leisurely stroll via the Sentosa Boardwalk. It's a cheaper way to enter Sentosa at S$1 per entry compared to taking the Sentosa Express which cost S$3 per entry.

We started our journey from VivoCity Shopping Mall. There's no way you can get lost as the signs are so big and clear telling you which exit to go from the moment we stepped into VivoCity at the Basement. We exit the shopping mall at the level 1 waterfront promenade.

Opens on 29 January 2011, the Sentosa Boardwalk is a 700m timber boardwalk that opens 24 hours a day, while the travellators operate every day from 7am to 12mn and the ticketing booths open from 9am to 6pm daily.

Spotted this lovely tree at the beginning of the Sentosa Boardwalk. Combined with the Camera+ Diana effect, it really makes this photo even more lovely.

The Sentosa Boardwalk is divided into five sections namely the Mangrove, Rock Garden, Terrain & Hill, Coastal Flora and Tropical Rainforest. One can choose to walk or let the travellators brings you to the next station but I would prefer to walk as the travellators is rather slow.

Some of the photos taken along the Sentosa Boardwalk. We stopped to look at the cruise ships, observed a caterpillar wriggling around and took a group photo with the help of some tourists before we reach the ticketing counter.

The sunny weather is perfect for visiting the Sentosa Flowers.

We are awed by the beautifully decorated Dragon Gate. Beside us are the floral carps trying to leap over the gate. Leap to a bountiful Dragon Year!

Located right in front of The Merlion is the giant pink Floral Zodiac Dragon. The mystical dragon is fifth in the Chinese Zodiac.

Awakening - Parents holding the big paintbrushes to give the finishing touch to this painting of the Dragon to usher in a prosperous year. This comes from a legend that a famous painter named Zhang Sengyou who painted a dragon without the eyes and after he dotted the dragon's eyes, the dragon became alive and fllew into the sky. 画龙点睛。

Flower Fairies - This two flower fairies are keeping the flowers strong and healthy by sprinkling fairy dust.

Trees of Life - Pay and get your wish written on the colourful slips of wishing paper and hang them on the trees and they might just come true! The highlights here are the 6 larger-than- life bird families on the branches of the trees.

Tea Journey - We see how the tea leaves looks like on the large tea set and learnt about the nature of Long Jing Tea.

Spring Melodies - Listen to the soothing melodies of Springtime. From the musical instruments or humming birds.

Dinoland - Dinosaurs were majestic and enormous creatures many many years ago. Now see them rule the land of Sentosa!

Dance of the Dragon - Created by International award winning sand sculptor : Tan Joo Heng.

Sweet Love - Fall in love again with the sweet red roses.

We completed the Sentosa Flowers journey in about 3.5 hours time. I think we missed out two sections - Lost Garden and Sea World. A pity but I really enjoyed myself very much. An opportunity to spend time with my parents and it feels great to be surrender by so many flowers and be under the sun. Brightens up one's mood instantly.
