[Event] SAFRA Choa Chu Kang Celebrates 1st Year Anniversary

SAFRA opened its seventh and latest clubhouse, nestled within Choa Chu Kang Park, which was officially launched on 23 November 2023. It's been a year, and I hadn't visited SAFRA Choa Chu Kang, despite my hubby being a SAFRA member. When I found out they were having a one-year anniversary carnival, we headed down to check out SAFRA Choa Chu Kang. Ironically, my hubby wasn't even aware of the existence of this latest clubhouse.

I did a pre-registration online for 2 tickets which entitled us to 4 carnival games, 4 carnival rides and 4 snacks and two goodie bags.

We had lunch at Mr Teh Tarik Cartel, which serves halal tze char dishes. The portion was big, even though we ordered small for all the dishes. Afterward, my hubby and my girl went for a swim at the all-weather sheltered swimming pool. My only complaint was that only the main pool was sheltered, the baby pool and some of the seating areas were exposed to the rain. While some seating areas had giant umbrellas for shelter, we were still asked to move inside in case of lightning. I didn't go swimming, so I stayed at the seating area to look after our belongings.

Every SAFRA member gets one change to join in the sure-win gashapon machine and we won a $10 SAFRA voucher! We played the carnival games and had some snacks. Afterward, hubby needed to leave, so my girl and I stayed on.

My girl and I went to all the levels to uncover the hidden Santa stockings and we took part in an online quiz. After completing the online quiz with all the correct answers, we went back to the Customer Service Officers to receive a customized SAFRA 2025 table calendar.

I also registered and paid for the Basic Food Photography workshop hosted by Joel, and our props were Chateraise desserts. My girl picked the strawberry cake and after taking some nice photos, we got to enjoy it too. Participants also received some vouchers, I used the $5 voucher for our dinner. For dinner, we ate at Ishiro Fusion Bowl at Food Paradise. The setting was lovely with mandopop playing in the background. Love the vibes.

After dinner, we witnessed the Christmas lights-up ceremony and enjoyed the free-flow snow play accompanied by Christmas songs! Everybody loves it. We all got ourselves foamy and messy, but who cares? It was Singapore's snow without the cold! I think the snow lasted quite long, after the last segment which was a magic show and when we were heading home, it was still snowing.

We spent the whole day at Safra Choa Chu Kang and it was great. We made our way to Choa Chu Kang bus interchange and my girl requested for a photo here.

Sunday's breakfast was this edible cookie from The Bakers Formulae received after we completed a survey for this event, really smart of them to use M&Ms as the colouring.

[Event] The Working Capitol: 4th Anniversary

It was a night to remember as The Working Capitol celebrates its 4th anniversary in style. Located at 1 Keong Saik Road, the place was merely a short walking distance from Outram MRT station. I met up with Jane and we were greeted by a Flea Market preview hosted by one of their partners at the first floor entrance.

We proceed on to the lounge area at the second floor for our registration and goodie bag where we found items that incite a nostalgic vibe such as the Donkey playing cards and the spring toy which my girl finds it so amusing.

The actual party was held on another level up at The Commons which is an event space that is often used for celebrations by various other companies and organisations. The party kicks off at exactly 1920 hrs, commemorating the era in which the flagship at 1 Keong Saik was built.

The theme of the party was 'Time' and along with celebrating the past, present and the future of The Working Capital, we were treated to some great Singaporean dishes. The Nasi Lemak from The Coconut Club is one such dish and there is also a self service Kachang Puteh Bar, perfect for some free flow nuts to bring back the memories of our yesteryears.

We were also given a drink coupon that we can use to redeem one drink out of the four specially curated cocktails by Bula Global Trade, the liquor distributors as well as their new partners taking over the 1KS Cafe and Beer Garden. I chose the Curried Sourz but in the end I prefer Jane's Gin Chryst. These 4 cocktails were meant to tell a story of their journey at The Working Capitol and how they have grown over the years.

Taking the mandatory group photos at the photo booth to bring back for memories. It was kind of challenging when we took the six people photo as there is no preview on the screen but we finally managed with this nice shot after a few tries.

Dee found the little art area set out at the balcony.  So, Dee, Jane and myself, we went to try out hands at painting our own tiles with the idea revolving around our dreams.

My Arts really stays at Primary School level but my dream is really that simple, to be happy. What makes me happy is really just time spent with my loved ones.

These painted tiles will be immortalised as a mural on the exterior facade of The Working Capitol together with the artwork of visual artist  MaryAnn Loo (@penguingirl_art).

During the later part of the night, a silent auction featuring a handful of items such as antique centrepieces, staycations and more were held. However, due to the excitement of everyone, it was not much of a "silent" auction. The proceeds of over two thousand dollars gathered from this Silent Auction all goes to their beneficiary at Daughters of Tomorrow.

It was interesting to explore and learn how The Working Capitol is redefining the way people work.  It is not only just a coworking space but also a lifestyle provider with its own cafe and beer garden. It offers a range of workspace solutions suited for entrepreneurs and small business with private offices, meeting rooms and event hall. Community programmes and events are also held for networking purposes.

Thank you for the Media Invite!

[Event] Big Mac 50th Party with Exclusive Merchandise to be WON

Celebrating 50 Years of Big Mac

McDonald's Singapore celebrates 50 years of Big Mac and I'm glad to score a pair of the Big Mac 50th Party admission from @alvinology giveaway contest! Needless to say, my plus 1 is my hubby who is a big fan of the Big Mac since young! With the launch of so many new burgers, it's been a while since we last ate a Big Mac.

It was a casual and fun party held at McDonald's at Marine Cove. We had our share of food and games to go along during the party and most of us won some exclusive merchandise or food vouchers.

Here's what in store for all in celebration of the World's iconic burger 50th years.

 1. Enjoy a Big Mac Extra Value Meal at $5.50

Yes, the Big Mac Extra Value Meal is now selling at a special price of $5.50 instead of the usual price $7.55. That is a $2.05 savings which one can use it to buy 2 sweet corn ice-cream!

  2. Join the Big Mac Karaoke Contest to win Exclusive Merchandise

From 7th to 9th September, simply head to McDonald's Singapore Instagram account (@McDSG) to take part in their Big Mac Karaoke Contest and stand to win exclusive Big Mac Merchandise including Big Mac Cap, Big Mac 50 T-shirt and a Big Mac Tote Bag!

This is the lyrics to the jingle for the contest. During the party, this is one of the games we played and the fastest rapper to this verse won.

  3. The Spicy Chicken McNuggets is back

The Spicy Chicken McNuggets had returned as a six piece ala carte item in the menu at $4.85 and a nine piece ala carte at $6.40. In my opinion, the taste on its own is good without the need for any sauces.

  4. Launch of the Limited Edition MacCoins

The Big Mac commemorative coins or MacCoins was especially designed for this Big Mac 50th Party!

 5. The Ingredients inside the Big Mac Special Sauce

Random photos taken at the party.

A group photo of the happy faces at the end of the party.

Once again, let us celebrate 50 yummy years of Big Mac and head down to any stores to enjoy your Big Mac Meals. Don't forget to share the photos with the official hashtag #BigMac50.

[EVENT] iFly Singapore 5th Anniversary - Night of Sports

iFly Singapore celebrated its 5th anniversary by holding this Night of Sports event with the main purpose of raising funds and awareness for Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).

Basically, anyone from first timers to professional flyers, of at least 7 years old can fly in this world's largest wind tunnel (Must also meet some flight criteria). iFly Singapore is so safe that the tunnel design has an accident rate of zero and there is a stainless steel elastic safety net at the base of the wind tunnel which is strong enough to hold two adult elephants!

Heading to second level to sky base where all the actions are. More than S$ 25 million has been invested to make iFly Singapore the first-of-its-kind and state-of-the-art body flight facility and attraction. iFly Singapore has even made it into the list of TripAdvisor's 50 iconic places to visit in Singapore and have already spotted quite a number of celebrities like International Celebrities Zhang Ziyi, Michael Schumacher and many more.

A total of 230 participants took part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the Most Tandem Indoor Skydives. Also, for every person taking part, iFly Singapore pledged S$50 along with a flight voucher worth S$119 to the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).

Caitlin & Pei Yu who were the winners from the inter-school competition 'So You Think You Can Fly (School Edition) in November last year did a 2-way freefly flight performance.

Kyra Poh (Team Firefly) Freestyle Performance on video

Look at how graceful and flexible she is. It's just so wonderful to watch her fly like dancing to the music.

Opening speech by Mr Lawrence Koh (Managing Director and Founder). He shared many milestones that iFly Singapore have achieved since its opening. To date, iFly Singapore has created a total of 10 Guinness World Records titles. Some of the more impressive ones include The Guinness World record for the longest indoor freefall of 4 hours 22 mins and 20 secs, which is equivalent to falling from a height of 2,766,720 feet or 843,296 meters through the air. Another record worth mentioning is the Most Head Spins in a wind tunnel in one minute. Flight instructor Jonathan Loh managed to create this record with 50 Head spins on 21 May 2015!

Another amazing flight performance by Kyra and Yixuan from Team Firefly. They danced to the tuned of Mission Impossible. A short clip of their performance can be found on my Instagram account here at @chewyjas.

Guest-of-Honour, Mr George Yeo was here to grace the event. He was also the one who grace the opening of iFly Singapore.

Singapore Paralympic swimmers Theresa Goh & Yip Pin Xiu also took part to make the world record attempt.

A video of them flying. They just prove once again that anyone can fly.

This fundraising event proves to be a success as iFly Singapore managed to raise and donate a total of S$38,870 to Singapore Disability Sports Council. Photo taken during the cheque presentation ceremony.

Networking session and anniversary dinner at the Sky Garden. Really love the food provided by Purple Sage. So delicious and exquisite.

Cake cutting and champagne popping time. Happy 5th birthday again, iFly Singapore.

Thanks Jessie for extending the invite to me. I had an enjoyable time watching the flight performances as well as the dinner.
