[Food] Explore Bali Lane - UFO Burger at KOWBOY and Sweet Treats at Cafe Margaret

Exploring new places for the latest food trend is what I love to do, even if it means a little travelling. Explored Bali Lane during my lunch break to check out the latest craze in Singapore - the UFO Burger by KOWBOY. The friendly boss who opened KOWBOY also owns the halal yakiniku restaurant Waku Waku just down the road and is currently applying for halal certification for KOWBOY.

I stood outside the shopfront for a few minutes just to see the clouds moving in the sky, the shop title changing (the boss has added chewyjas inside), and the eyes spinning round and round.

The menu here is simple, focusing on just two items, UFO burgers and milkshakes.

There are other drink options in the fridge too. I got this drink pouch which comes printed with their tagline, 'Come Hungry Leave Happy'.

Expressing my congratulations in writing on their wall.

Here's a short video of the making of the UFO Burger. A machine that functions like a waffle maker was used. Instead of the waffle grid, there was a hollow dome in place.

.

We ordered the UFO Cosmic Truffle, UFO Supernova Mentaiko, Strawberry Celestia and Honeydew Hyperspace. The burger comes in this ziplock bag regardless of whether you're eating in or taking away. We ate at one of the standing tables outside. There are no indoor tables, but the kind boss did ask if we wanted to sit at his other restaurant.

A common sight in Korea, unlike the usual classic burger, KOWBOY's UFO burgers uses pita bun and encase the usual burger ingredients inside in a UFO-like shape. This design locks in the ingredients and sauces inside, thus making it a fuss-free and mess-free way of eating burgers.

A short video of me eating the UFO Burger and how it looks like inside.

After our meal, my friend suggested having some sweet treats before we headed back to work. She recommended Cafe Margaret, which coincidentally, serves popular cube cakes inspired from Korea as well. This cafe has a policy requiring every visitor to order at least one drink. Even though my friend had ordered a drink, they still expected me to order another one as well. All the cakes were nicely displayed, and we simply grabbed a tray, picked what we wanted and proceeded to the second floor to sit down. We found a nice table by the window.

We enjoyed their signature Biscoff CubePie (Cube Croissant), a laminated pastry with 72 flaky layers and filled with sweet cream inside. One CubePie is good for sharing. Thank you W for the treat!

[Personal] On Leave Day + My Little Buddy Cafe - LINE FRIENDS x BT21 at Kumoya Orchard Central

My girl's childcare center had a one day closure for next year's planning so I took leave from work today to spend time with her and to run some personal errands. We went back to my office for lunch and also to get my laptop. This was probably her third time coming to my office cafe and she loves it here. The food here is super nice and I get to enjoy staff discount till end of the year.

Love the food at my office cafe - The Good Boys

I participated in Eu Yan Sang's #NoToPlasticWithEU Instagram Challenge to be their Eco-Ambassador and I received a complimentary limited-edition Peter Rabbit™ lunchbox set worth $39.90 but the collection had to be done at the Eu Yan Sang Centre which is located at Tai Seng. So we took a MRT down to Paya Lebar and changed to Circle Line to Tai Seng and from Tai Seng we walked a good 15 minutes down to their Centre.

Eu Yan Sang Centre

So happy to finally see that we've arrived at the building because the weather was scorching hot that day.

Rest and cool down ourselves while taking some photos inside. The reception area is quite big with a pantry behind.

Gotten the limited-edition Peter Rabbit™ lunchbox from Eu Yan Sang. This stylish bamboo fibre lunch box is made from environmentally sustainable materials and is a better alternative to plastic lunch box. The lunch box lid and cutlery are made from solid bamboo and the lunch box base is made of 45% bamboo fibre, 30% corn powder, 5% wood fibre, 19.5% melamine and 0.5% resin. It is free from phthalates, BPA and other harmful chemicals. Things to note is that this lunch box is not suitable to use in microwave and oven and only the base is dishwasher safe.

Next stop, we took a grab down to one of FedEx drop off location at Kaki Bukit Road, there's only two drop off locations in Singapore, one at 31 Kaki Bukit Road 3 #04-18/19, Techlink and the other would be at 1 Changi Business Park. Took a grab over as I did not wish to walk in the industrial area under the hot sun again.

This girl is getting heavier. The parcel I was supposed to drop off was actually dated 2020 when I won a CircleDNA Premium DNA test kit and I was supposed to swap and return my DNA swap for them to analyze. Can't believe I kept this for almost 2 years before I finally get everything done.

From Kaki Bukit, we took the bus journey to Bedok before taking a long bus 7 journey to Orchard Central. Had a dinner scheduled with my Primary school friend at 6.30pm at Kumoya.

We reached about 5.30pm and since we were early, we went to look for some dessert to eat. Found this Ooze by Whiskdom selling cookies , brownies and ice-cream, regretted not adding some ice cream to our chunky cookies as this can be a little dry.

I also went to the concierge area to get a power bank and cable for my iPhone battery is running low. Glad that they have this service where shoppers can loan the power bank with a deposit of $50 which is fully refundable when you return. I did brought my power bank out but forget to put in the cable.

Kumoya is a character themed cafe at Orchard Central with rotating themes every now and then. The current theme now features LINE FRIENDS x BT21 : My Little Buddy Cafe.

Mandatory photo at the entrance!

We ordered the Line Friends Iced Chocolate $12.90 which comes with whipped cream, mini sprinkles and a My Little Buddy Line Friend Straw Insert. My friend had the RJ and Koya Apple Momo Iced Tea $13.90 which is a refreshing apple flavoured tea with the Koya and RJ cup sleeves.

For our mains, we ordered the BT21 My Little Buddy Budae Jjigae $25.90. The ingredients are pre-set with kimchi soup broth which I find is quite diluted. My friend had the Sally and Choco Korean Chicken Stew $24.90 which is pretty cute with Sally turmeric Japanese rice face.

For sides, my girl wanted the Cheese Cheolpan $9.90 and Mozzarella Cheese Sticks $12.90 as she is such a big cheese lovers.

Had so much to catch up with my friend whom we meet like once in a year. From work to kids, thanks for sharing with me some tips and procedures on registering for Primary 1 which is something I have to go through next year.

We got two complimentary brand new coaster to bring home I think it comes with the drinks we ordered and I bought a Line Sally for my girl because it represent her as a cartoon character. Overall, the food here is very pricey. Once you ordered one drink, you won't even think to order a second round. I would say pay for the cuteness and pay for the experience if you are a big fan of the theme.

To avoid long waiting time, here's their reservation link and menu:

*Note: for online booking they requires a credit card to be put on reserve and stated that $40 will be deducted in case of no show. Once you've booked online, it's pretty hard to edit and change the date or time. I booked the day before and realised I booked the wrong timing so I had to make another booking instead. Went down to the shop to tell them to cancel the first booking so no charges is deducted through my card. Anyway, I used my Grab Card which might not have sufficient money for them to deduct.

[Ice-Cream Cafe in SG] Hundred Acre Creamery ~ Winnie the Pooh Inspired

"What could be more important than a little something to eat?"
A. A. Milne

There had been quite a few ice-cream cafes sprouting up in the vicinity of Sunset Way and Hundred Acre Creamery is one of them. Hundred Acre Creamery was named after the Hundred Acre Wood as the two owners hope that this will be a place where we appreciate companionship and happiness as to how Christopher Robin accompanies Pooh and his friends in many of the Winnie the Pooh stories.

I'm glad I finally get to visit this Winnie the Pooh inspired cafe on a Thursday night before any tightening restrictions again. We went around 9pm and spotted a little sign directing us to the cafe itself. Actually, it's not easy to miss the cafe as a lot of other shops are already closed for the day and this little cafe is the only one with their lights still on.

Beside the two lovely quotes that one can immediately spotted on the wall upon entering, there's also a pooh bear plushie in a vase and they even stamped their mini water cups with a pooh bear face!

The two lovely quotes spotted:

"Sometimes the smallest things takes up the most room in your heart"

"How do you spell love?" -- Piglet
"You don't spell it, you feel it." -- Pooh

Serving premium Vietnamese coffee, waffles, hand-rolled rosemary cones, homemade tea and fresh gelato made from quality ingredients with no artificial flavouring or colouring used. Their top 5 best selling flavours are Roasted Pistachio, Honey Chrysanthemum & Cacao Nibs, Rocher, Dark Chocolate Sorbet and Sea Salt Butter Caramel. My favourite is the Honey Chrysanthemum & Cacao Nibs with Coconut Pandan Waffle.

[Cafe in SG] Seng Coffee Bar - A Hidden Gem in the East

Somewhere along Changi Road, a 6 minutes walking distance from Kembangan MRT station, a new cafe has just sprung up. Seng Coffee Bar is a hidden gem in the East set up by a father-daughter duo and is currently managed by the daughter. At Seng Coffee Bar, diners can enjoy cafe favourites and casual dining that combines fresh product and great flavours. Their delectable dinner and dessert menu is complete with a selection of wines and drinks.

The cafe is well lighted up with warm lights which is not too dim, giving off a really chill vibes. There are a few instagramable spots for photo taking too. At the shop front, one can find a few alfresco seating for those who prefer some natural lighting, it was quite a lovely scene at night when the fairy lights are being lighted up.

We had the following mains individually with sides and desserts for sharing.

FRIED COD FISH BURGER ($23) - Honestly, I had a tough time deciding between the different choices as all looked so good. Picked this in the end as it has a Seng's Pick logo beside it and it doesn't disappoint! The dish is served using miso cod fish, Chef Chua's tartare sauce, sliced tomatoes and lettuce sandwiched between the brioche bun and truffle fries by the side. The fried cod fish is so fresh and thick, don't look at it being just a burger, I felt so full after eating this.

SALTED EGG CHICKEN BURGER ($16) - There's only two burger dish on the menu and this is the other one ordered by Emily. For this, salted egg fried chicken and curry leaf are used. Look at the generous amount of salted egg sauce that is flowing out! Looks so yummy too! Comes with truffle fries by the side too.

MENTAIKO MAC & CHEESE ($18) - This is another dish under the Mains that've got marked with the Seng's Pick logo. Served in a pan is Penne, Bacon, Mentai Cream, mozzarella cheese and parsley. I tried one spoon and I love it. The light Mentai cream and mozzarella cheese is a perfect combination. However, the portion might be too big for one.

RIBEYE STEAK (S28) - A slice of Argentina Ribeye (200g), grilled asparagus, roasted baby potatoes and beef jus. Didn't try this but was told that the meat is quite tender even after well done.

PRAWN AGLIO OLIO ($22) - Linguine served with three huge grilled tiger prawns, garlic chips and chili padi. Looks so appetizing and with the right amount of garlic and chili, nothing can go wrong with this dish.

GRILLED SEA BASS ($22) - Fresh grilled sea bass served with sautéed baby spinach, olive dust, lotus chips, basil oil and lemon wedges. A light and mild dish. The flash of the fish is soft and moist.

Some of the sides we ordered for sharing were Truffle Fries with parmesan cheese ($12), Mentaiko Fries ($13), Roasted Curry Cauliflower with parmesan cheese and pine nuts ($12), Fried Nan Lu Chicken with housemade chilli ($12), Ginger Sake Clam ($13) and Tortilla Chips with nacho cheese ($12). We had a situation of fries overload as both burger dishes comes with fries too. My personal favourite sides are the Tortilla chips and Ginger Sake Clam. The Tortilla chips is super additive, it's something I will order again next time. For a person who don't like clam, this is really fresh and tasty. The Fried Nan Lu Chicken is well marinated and the chili is similar to that of a chicken rice chili.

We picked the Cempedak Creme Brulee ($8) and Chocolate Lava Cake with berries & chocolate soil and vanilla ice cream ($12) for our dessert. Both are my favourite. The Cempedak Creme Brulee is a big pleasant surprise. I love how it turns a classic dessert with a fragrant local twist by using Cempedak. Love the plating of the chocolate lava cake and it marks a good ending to our scrumptious meal.

Not forgetting to mention my pot of Lychee Kris Grey ($9) which I shared with Jessie - black tea, greentea, blue cornflower, blue pea flower, bergamot, lychee flavouring and silver dust. It was definitely a good pot of tea.

Thanks Irene for organizing and Seng Coffee Bar for hosting. Thanks Renuka for the group photo. Happy to have the chance to meet up with the other 7 ladies in the influencer group, some of whom was my first time meeting them in real life. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to be back again soon to try their other dishes such as their All-Day Breakfast items that they only served from 10am to 5pm.

[Cafe in SG] LeJomo | Experience The Joy of Missing Out「乐周末」at Fook Hai Building

Visited LeJomo, a cozy cafe located at Fook Hai Building, just next to Hong Lim Complex after work for their media launch, thanks Kenny, @_boyz86 for extending the invite to me. It was about a 15 minutes walk away from my workplace. If you are wondering what does LeJomo mean, well, there is actually an interesting concept behind the cafe name. "Le" translate to "the" in French and Jomo actually stands for Joy of Missing Out, so LeJomo means The Joy of Missing Out.

We are so used to the term FOMO aka Fear of Missing Out that we didn't realised if we just replace the "Fear" with "Joy" and stop worrying about missing out on what others are doing, we could be fully engage in our own life. At LeJomo, they want us to be digitally disconnected, enjoy some me time, to catch up with friends or simply get inspired by the visuals and music at this cafe and to truly embrace the Joy of Missing Out.

As we were still early and waiting for the rest to arrive, we decided to explore the second storey of the cafe. I definitely enjoyed this little LeJomo moments while the rest were downstairs taking photos of the food. Oh ya, also did a TPG challenge with Kenny, check out the tik tok video we did here. I'm trying to be more active on Tik Tok too so do follow me on tik tok here

I particularly love this spot and also the mid-way suspended plant. Interesting to just gaze at this plant and imagine I'm somewhere else. After taking some photos, we headed back to the first floor to check out the food.

LeJomo offers a healthy and diverse Korean dishes on their menu. From Bibimbap to Army Stew to sweet indulgences like cakes and pastries and specialty beverages and soju cocktails.

Spotted a talented artist @james.ek who did a drawing on the spot of the Korean Ramen Crusted Waffle. Impressive! I always admired people who can draw so well because for me, I only know how to draw a stickman.

Korean Ramen Crusted Waffle with Sweet & Sour Plum Chili and Honey Coated Bacon and Salad. Didn't get to try this but heard that it was so good and unique because there's ramen bites in the waffle!

Bibimpap has their in-house sambal chili which is another of their unique dish.

Korean Army Stew is so comforting especially when eaten hot.

Toast of Joy with Pepero sticks. Perfect for the sweet tooth me and the toast is really crispy.

Throat Soothing Pi Pa Gao Latte. Fear not that it will taste like cough syrup cause the coffee taste is strong enough to cover it. Comes in hot and cold version.
