I've been awarded the Liebster Award

Thanks JASMINE for tagging me and giving me this online award. She's one sweet gal whom I've met through Nuffnang's Segway Gogreen after dark event and we've got the same name! So I felt that I can clicked with her. Hehe. It's been way too long since I attended NN events so I'm really touched and surprised when I received the tag notifications in Facebook and Twitter from her. ~^^~

RULES

1.Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2.Answer the questions the tagger has set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
3.Choose eleven people & link them in your post.
4.Go to their page & tell them.
5.Remember no tag backs!

That's quite a lot of rules but rules are set by people and are meant to be broken right? So I shall only answer the 11 questions that were posted to me! ;)

 The Eleven Questions

1.What's your horoscope, talk more about your horoscope?
2.Do you wear makeup? What kind of makeup style do you like to try or been putting on?
3.Talk about your love life, relationship current or past? Talk about it.
4.Are you happy with your life? Lacking of something to make it perfect? Talk about it.
5.What's the most recent thing that make you smile and happy?
6.Which country do you want to visit & who'll you bring along with you?
7.Write about your future plans?
8.Where do you shop normally?
9.To love or Be love ?
10.What kind of phone application do you use normally?
11.What kind of stress are you having right now?

 The Eleven Answers

1. Gemini the twins. I think my horoscope does play a small part to my character. Happy one minute and moody the next.
2.No. I don't apply make-up at all during normal days unless I'm going to attend big events. That's because I'm way too lazy and I don't see the point of spending so much time putting on the make-up in the day just to remove them at night. I rather spend the time decorating my photos using iPhone apps or online.
3. Love life : Boy meet girl, girl meet boy and they both fall in love. Simple as that. :)
4. I'm currently quite happy with my life. It would be perfect if I have a personal chauffeur, personal cook etc. Lol.
5. The most recent thing that make me happy and smile was attending a friend's baby 1 years old birthday. Just watching the kids play and playing with her little girl makes me happy.
6. Too many Countries I've wanted to visit. Nobody. I actually wished to try backpacking alone but too dangerous for me?
7. I want to be a future Tai-Tai. Wahaha.
8. No particular place.
9. Both. Of course I would prefer the other person to love me more. Hee.
10. Whatsapp. I can don't use all other apps, but Whatsapp seems like a daily must use app.
11. Waking up on time every morning.

Okay, that's the end of my eleven answers. Thanks for reading this post although it's nothing informative and

I should be packing now for my Company's Macau trip but . . .

. . . I seriously don't know how to start! I've been nagged by my father for the past 20 minutes when he fetched me home on how lazy I am. How I rather watch tv yesterday and do things so last minute. How he think I would definitely forget to bring something important. I guess he must have misunderstood me when I told him I got a bad headache. The real kind of headache it feels like somebody is drilling a nail into my head. He must have thought I meant I'm having a headache on how to pack as he said I deserved it. Boo Hoo. :(

So rather than packing, I'm concentrating on how to personalize my luggage. I just gotten this luggage for free after I applied for the Maybank Credit Card last year and this would be the first time I'm using it. I guess quite a lot of people got it too so I better stick some stickers on to make mine unique. Doing this kind of unnecessary, bo liao things makes me real happy. Really. :D

Even after blogging for so long, my luggage is still empty! Ah. How?

Anyway, a very big thanks to Mich for lending me her sweet, pinkish Burberry winter jacket. This is the kind of pink jacket that I always wanted to own but I always never buy. Really matches the scarf and woolen hat that Ling lend me too. Really appreciate them cause they willingly lend me all this winter wear so I could save more money for the trip. TYVM :) Arigato :) Xie Xie :)

PS: I would be away from 11 Jan 2012 and coming back on 14 Jan 2012. I guess I might bring my laptop along for some work stuff and also to write some blogs when I'm free. So stay tuned! Hehe.

Remembering 2011 : Welcoming 2012

2011 is coming to an end. It has been a great year overall and I'm totally welcoming 2012 with wide-open arms! Cheers! (Wish I have someone to toast to)

>---------------------------^_^--------------------------<

This time round, I would not be making any resolutions as I tend to forget them by end of Jan so what's the point? Instead, I just hope that I would be a better and smarter person. Make lesser careless mistakes and do more good deeds. What goes around comes around. It's important to start the year with a positive mindset.

*****************************************************

Also, I hope I'm able to treat everyday as if it's the last day of my life and make full use of it. Carpe diem. Like, what if 2012 is the end of the world? The possibilities are there. Aliens invasion. Natural disasters. Diseases. Anything can happen. Watched a talk show on Channel U before and they were on this discussion topic too. How would you like the World to end? What's the last thing you'd do if it's the last day of your life. An inauspicious topic but interesting discussion. If one day, Planet Earth really cannot sustain any more lives, there's still other planet around. Note the discovery of Kepler 22b by NASA. Read news here. However, guess the problem is how do we get there?

So, to end my post, I sincerely wish everyone a great 2012 with abundance of love, peace and joy.  ~ xoxo ~

My Nuffnang Story

Happy Deepavali to my Indian readers and happy holiday to the rest. Thanks to our multi-racial society that we get to enjoy public holidays like Deepavali, Hari Raya, etc. It's a public holiday and it's awesome! A great day to stay home, have a cup of hot chocolate and reminisce.

Taken at USS some time back.
Let me share with you my journey with Nuffnang so far. Nuffnang itself has its own history on how  and who founded it and I have mine too (I started blogging since 2003 at another blog address, stopped for a few years before started this blog). Launched in Singapore on 30 April 2007, though I'm not the pioneer batch who joined (I joined around end Dec 2008!) I still shared many many wonderful memories with Nuffnang.

I still keep their New Year Card to me in my e-mail. Haha.
Being a Nuffnanger, I joined not only for the blog advertising (my blog current earnings only S$ 10.80, so really nothing to brag about) but the fact that I can get invites to exclusive bloggers events like movie screenings, workshops, parties and more.

First movie date from Nuffnang
This was the first movie invite that I gotten from Nuffnang - Star Trek at GV Grand. Subsequently, I also won free movie tickets for Charlie St. Cloud, Tron - Legacy, Pirates of Caribbean and many more. The latest won was Fright Night.

My first large scale event with Nuffnang was the Flash Mob event held outside Heeren way back in June 2009. It was like one of the most memorable events and also the first time I met other famous bloggers like Xia Xue and Sherala in real life.

I got to know a little bit more blogger friends at the Nokia Ovi Workshop. I remember vividly how we exchange blog address instead of handphone numbers by using the paper given to us for other purposes. Amusing.

Subsequently, I received the official invitation for Glitterati Plus bloggers meet-up. It was fun and I also joined the Glitterati Plus (G+) club at the event itself. With the expanding of blog-sphere and Nuffnang community, being in the G+ club makes me feels even more exclusive. It's like being the cream of the corp!

http://www.nuffnang.com.sg/blog/2011/10/24/nuffnang-asia-pacific-blog-awards-2011-2/
Now, come 16 December 2011 is another exciting event to look forward to. While Mediacorp has Star Awards annually to recognize outstanding artistes so does Nuffnang. They will be holding the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific blog award 2011 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! It's a by invitation only event and only 500 bloggers from the Asia-Pacific region will get the chance to attend this prestigious celebration in Putrajaya Marriott. The many awards includes Blogger of the Year (Not open for nominations), Hidden Gem, Best Original Blog Design, Best Entertainment Blog, Best Food Blog, Best Travel Blog, Best Fashion Blog, Best Photography Blog, Best Geek Blog and Best Parenting Blog. Nominate Best Blog here. Giving out awards like these aims not only to honour the region's best bloggers but also to bring together blogger communities from Asia-Pacific. While I do not harbour any thoughts of winning any prizes, I still wish that I can be part of the 500 bloggers to be there, to cheer on with the rest of the bloggers and to create more happy memories with Nuffnang. The Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards is brought to you by Volkswagen Malaysia and Putrajaya Marriott. Good luck bloggers! :)

I'm still feeling lucky : Winning Scratchit

I'm still feeling lucky today.

This is my lunch from my favorite auntie's stall. I'm lucky because on rare occassion do I find lady fingers! Hahaha. I love eating lady fingers. My friends who hates it told me they don't like the sticky sticky starchy thing but that is what I liked the most. The rest of the dishes are all my favourite too. Such a big serving that the rice was completely covered up. I love auntie's home cooked food!! Yay! :)

Won $5 from this card under Game 2 whereby I got the number 88 in my card.
Won $4 from Game 1 as it  appears three times in my card.
After lunch, I went to the OCBC bank to drop some cheques for my colleagues. On the way there, passed by the Singapore Pools so I thought, since I'm feeling lucky, I might as well buy some scratch cards. (The last I bought was many many months ago again) Bought three scratch cards worth $6 and out of the 3, 2 cards were winning cards! In the end, I win back $9, giving me a profit of $3. Not a lot but I'm contented cause I'm saving my luck for other days. Hehe.  =^_^=

My Top 3 Favourite Mooncakes for 2011

#1 : The tradition lotus seed paste mooncake from The Ritz Carlton. Comes with a box that looks like a treasure box. the two square mooncakes contain the yolk while the round one is pure lotus. The lotus seed paste is so smooth and not too sweet. My whole family loves it.

#2 : Snow Skin Black Durian Mooncake from Home's Favourite. A melt-in-the-mouth experience. Highly recommended to me. Love it. It's worth the money. Read my review here

#3 : Crispy Skin Yam Mooncake from Long Wang. Brought to the office by CL. This is so special, it's my first time eating mooncakes that is neither the traditional type nor the snow skin type but it's crispy skin. Like curry puffs! LOL. The yam inside is so nice, I can smell it when the box is opened.

Jean Yip too good to be true deal ?!

This deal at BigDeal.sg seems too good to be true right? Unlimited Sessions for S$ 129.00 only! Previously I have a very pleasant experience at Stripe which I have yet to blog about. Read post here. However, their IPL session cost $300 per session. Too expansive already. Under the temptation, decided to get this deal and try it out.

Stepped into their outlet and immediately, I knew I was in for big trouble. Their selling tactic is super exaggeration. The manager who helped me to arranged even follow me into the treatment room and keep saying I need to add on a whitening treatment and that this unlimited session is best for follow up maintenance only  and for my hair growth I need to have at least two sessions per month. She just keep on nagging and nagging non stop until the treatment is starting before she finally leave the room and left me and the therapist.

The whole session is the same like the rest. First she will ask you to wear a goggle like protective gear to protect your eyes from the strong light that will emit out from the machine. Next, they will spread a thick layer of cooling gel onto the area that will be zapped. Following on, she will use the machine and zap zap zap that area. Every zap you will feel a small pinch. The higher the density of the zap, the more effective I supposed. Lastly, after the zapping, she will apply that thick layer of cooling gel again. The whole process is so fast and simple yet it's so costly. Sometimes, I really wonder why on earth do hair grows at that area and why did it became an unglam sight if ladies have hair at that area but so manly for guys. I shall observe my hair growth before deciding if Jean Yip is a good place to invest my money on or not.

It's Global Smurfs Day !

Blue is the colour of the sky and ocean.
Blue is one of my favourite colour as it has a calming effect.
Best of all, blue is the colour of The Smufs!

"Yo listen up here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue is his house with a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around
Cos he ain't got nobody to listen to listen..."

It's Global Smurfs Day today !

In Singapore, only Cathay is celebrating by coming up with a SMURFS Popcorn Combo Set which comes with BLUE Popcorns, BLUE drinks and Smurfs premiums. I am really curious the how does the blue pop corns taste like? Is it like our usual honey/caramel one or is it blueberry flavour? Anybody tried it can tell me? Heehee. Wanted to go but ended up going to the doctor instead. Damn. Seeing the doctor twice this month is not a good thing at all.

Bf looks so Smurfy too with his blue and white outfit and white helmet. HAHA.

Since, I'm not going out, I'm going to play my Smurfs game on my iPhone which I have neglected  for weeks. See screenshot in my FaceBook albums

The quest today is to build a theater to watch The Smurfs Movie preview. Wow, interesting. I'm definitely going to watch in when it's airing.

Meanwhile, after watch the trailer, let's wait patiently for the Smurf movie to be out in Cinema in September !

Ending my post with a "Goodnight Song" from Smurf. Good Night. Sleep Tight.

Try to sleep now, close your eyes
Soon the birds will stop singing
Twinkling stars, are shining bright
They'll be watching you all night

All the things, you enjoy
On this beautiful day
All your friends, all your toys
will be waiting for you to play

"Mr Sandman, he'll bring you dreams
As soon as the lights are out
And tomorrow you must tell me
what those dreams were all about"

Try to sleep now, close your eyes
Try to think of tomorrow
All those stars wish you good night
So I'm switching off the light

One more hug, one more smile
Kiss you once, kiss you twice
I'll be here for a while
Try to sleep now and close your eyes

Eve of birthday - Simple joy of receiving PRESENTS ! ! !

I think I told almost everyone in the office that I wanted to take leave tomorrow on my actual birthday so I received gifts from them today. Super happy. Love all the gifts! The joy of receiving and the joy of giving. I hope they enjoyed choosing and buying these presents for me cause if you asked me to compile a wishlist, I might not be able to do so. In the end, I still hope my friends would surprise me by giving me what that think I want or what they felt I need.

From my friends from work ~

Without fail, from my oldest friend since Primary School ~

From my baby bear who actually knows I wanted this! Hehehe ~ Muacks =*

Blog stat hits 100 uniques view today !

WOW! This is the first time ever my blog unique view hit 100!!! =D In the past it's just halved this number. The highest probably about 50+ only. (No joke, but still so far behind from those who get 1,000+ hits daily)  I'm really curious as to where did the sudden increase of visitors came from. If I can maintain or even increase this statistic, I can start to join the Singapore blog awards in the near future already. Just like the annual Star Awards that Mediacorp has to recognise well performed Mediacorp artiste, online we also have annual blog awards that everybody love to read and must read daily. Anyway, finalists will be reveal on 6 June so may the best blogs win! :)

Received my first cheque from OpenRice Sg

Thank you OpenRice Singapore !

This is my first time receiving a cheque from reviewing and I'm elated. With this little reward, I shall continue to contribute more food reviews to hit the targeted reviews for this month. For May targets, I'm still 30 reviews short. Guess I'll have to eat more and take more photos. Hehehe.

Threee Little Words to Keep in Mind -- Geoff Tan

I like to read this column by Geoff Tan as it's always very inspiring. Today, his article is about how we are blasted with informations 24/7 from the television, parents, spouse and even the social media. So much so but just how much of these helps to bring people closer?

The message titled "Three Little Words" are actually three words sentences that seems familiar yet foreign as we don't say them out often.

Examples

"I'll be there" and "Count on me" assures your friend that they can rely you for support when needed.
"You are right" and "Please forgive me" shows your humility in admitting imperfections and mistakes.
"I understand you" and "Let me help" reflect empathy and thoughtfulness.
"I respect you" helps to build up good relationships and friendship.
"I thank you" is not only polite but express appreciation for receiving help from others.
"I miss you" and "I love you" are verbal expressions for deep longing and affection for others.

*************************************************

His parting shot in three words: Go do it!
My parting shot in three words: Try say it!

Brother's Full A3 Colour Inkjet and A4 Monochrome Laser MFCs brings the Best of Both Worlds

Define "The best of both worlds"  and it would mean to have the best aspects of one choice and the best aspects of another choice when you have been asked to select between two choices.

HAHA. I have a twin!

Before I let you in on what is my opinion on having the best of both world, I would first like to introduce two ranges of Brother Multi-Function Centers that was launched just a week back. These two ranges of products is something that brings the best of both world for the consumers.

All-New Brother Full A3 Colour Inkjet Multi-Function Centres (MFCs)

This line-up of full A3 colour inkjet MFCs all have a complete set of A3-enabled functions that not only enable users to print in jumbo size but also scan, fax and copy. All in A3 size! How cool is that huh? One can save cost and space from purchasing numerous machines. Just get this that can multi-task. This series of products is best suited for those working in the engineering, architecture, design and creative sectors as often they need to print out elaborate floorplans, charts and graphs.

Some technical functions includes:

- High ISO printing speed of 12/10 ppm (save time)
- Additional 250-sheet built-in paper tray in along with the 35-sheet Automatic Document (save time to replenish papers)
- Wireless-network enabled (Connectivity within office)

***************************************************

Monochrome Laser Multi-Function Centres

These four new models of Monochrome Laser Multi-Function Centres (MFCs) are compact in size to fit into any business environment. Similar to the A3 colour inkjet MFCs, these four monochrome laser MFCs are also integrated with monochrome printing, faxing, copying and
scanning abilities. Another function is the PC Fax send and receive feature. This feature eliminates junk faxes and reduces paper wastage by enabling user to preview faxes before printing. Another initiative that helps to save the environment. Thumbs up.

Some technical functions includes:

high printing speed of up to 26 pages per minute (ppm)
- Additional 250-sheet built-in paper tray in along with the 35-sheet Automatic Document
scanning and copying both sides of ID card is a hassle-free matter now with the ID copy feature. (WOW! This features is most apt for my Company)

 http://www.brotherearth.com
With automatic double-sided printing, both ranges of MFCs can reduce paper usage by up to 50% which in turn keep the office environmentally friendly.

www.brother.com.sg

Visit their website to learn more about their price!

These machines can be purchased through Brother International Singapore’s authorised resellers and superstores and are supported by the Brother Customer Service Centre, located at the ground level of Gateway East at Beach Road. It is open Mondays to Fridays, from 9am to 9pm, and on Saturdays, from 9am to 3pm.

*****************************************

So after reading on how the Brother's two new range of products that can bring the best of both worlds by saving overhead cost and saving the environment, now it's time to reveal what is the Best of Both World in my opinion.

Eating and eating!
For me, I love to eat but I'm always very lazy and unmotivated to go for exercise. So my opinion of having the best of Both world is to be able to EAT and EAT all the good food, especially those high in cholesterol that are usually the yummiest but not grow FAT or fall sick even without exercising. HAHAHA.

Singapore General Election 2011 [One Week After]

Securing Our Future Together
风雨同舟,共创未来

It's one week after the Singapore General Election was held on 7 May 2011. However, the buzz and news are still ongoing.

The whole elections surfaced in the news since last year but the discussion was still not so hot then. It was weeks before the actual Elections date was set that we received magazines, newsletters, facebook campaigns  and rallies being made available to us and become everyone's hot topic. Suddenly, everyone is curious to where people are staying as the location would determine which teams are contesting.

In light of the Elections, we also received the "Grow and Share" package and money was credited in late April, even the TV and radio license fee was abolished  and cheque was returned to us.

Before the Elections, we suddenly see many oppositions team forming up. Topics like cost of living, cost of HDB Flats, transports, foreign talents were discussed. NSP policy to adjust back GST from current 7% to 5%. Comparison between Nicole Seah and Tin Pei Lin. Suddenly, it seems as if people have been suppressing their anger on a lot of issues and only exploded during this period with all the like-minded people flocking together.

One day before the Voting day is the Cooling off day. It's a day free of campaigning and election advertising for the voters to reflect which candidates to vote for.

On the day of the voting day itself is also the announcing of the results at night. Stayed glued to the TV since 9.30pm for the exciting results. The TV only starts releasing the results late after midnight while online results were already made known. The Returning Officer for the General Elections turned to an overnight star with his poker face and monotone voice as he announced all the results. As for the results, the dominant PAP wins majority but we can see that the votes has generally decreased.  Must be the works of social media. I really like this post which gives a detailed results and also some of the writer's thoughts.

After the Elections, we lost a great foreign minister, George Yeo, MM Lee and SM Goh decision to step down from cabinet follows after. They have contributed greatly to the development of Singapore and will be deeply respected.

Gifts - Bear + guide book to making a lot of MONEY $$$

This few days has been much of a learning process. Attended a short training on Monday and today. Monday's training was about Diabetes and Hypertension and today's training is more on a refresher course of the data entry system and common mistakes. Really, one can never stop learning. Even my friend will be going for further studies soon. Mmm. There's so much to learn, so much to know, so much to find out, so much to remember and yet we are only utilizing 10% of our human brain?!

Anyway, my idolize FSC gave me two gifts today. One baby polar bear called Eister (which is so soft and hug-gable, I'm hugging it now) and a book titled "Wink and Grow Rich." It's a step by step guide to making a lot of money! So hopefully after reading the 14 chapters, I can be able to apply them in real life and make lots of money!

This book complies some of the principles in a simple manner with illustrations to guide along. Storyline started with a nine years old boy left with a one dollar note in his hand trying to find wealth by visiting the Well of Wealth as per his sick and tired father's instruction. However, on the journey, he saw an old lady which guided him to another path and passed him a notebook with "Think it, ink it" scribbled on it. Later in his journey, he met The Optometrist, The Plumber, The Garderner, The Fisherman, The Rower, The Musician, The Innkeeper, The Carpenter, The Old Lady again.

I have only finished reading the part on The Optometrist and I'm really absorbing the golden rules.

"Quality of communication = Quality of life"
The four levels of communications are 1. Exchange 2. Connect 3. Motivate 4. Inspire

It's like talking about how we network with people. At the first level, people simply EXCHANGE conversations, spending hours complaining or chatting but create no clarity and no wealth. At the second level, people get more clarity, they CONNECT with others and form great team players. At third level, this group of people are focused and others can relate to them. They become Leaders and MOTIVATE people around them which create connection and momentum. The last level is when you INSPIRE and become the leader of leaders. To inspire, we need a clear, focused vision. Talking about Vision, no wonder my boss can be so successful, he also talks about vision all the time.

I'm curious as to what other guidelines the rest of the people will share but it's time for bed now so I shall just stop here.
