[RWS INVITES] Musical Taru 恐龙复活了

Musical Taru is a localised adaption of a Korean box-office hit and award-winning musical. This Mandarin production with English subtitles features life-sized dinosaur skeletons which includes a 2.5-metre tall T-Rex fossil, lots of catchy soundtracks as well as a star-studded principal cast.

The show started with the siblings Nali and Gao Feng and their friend Da Fa visiting the museum, wanting to be curators. They spent the day at the museum exploring the different exhibits such as the egyptian mummy and queen, primitives, maritime expedition of Zheng He and various fossils of dinosaurs. As night falls and it was time to return home, Gao Feng realised that he has forgotten to take a photo of himself at the museum for his assignment, the three of them went back to the museum again only to find out that the fossil of a baby T-Rex called Taru has been stolen. The exhibits in the museum came alive as it's full moon that night and together with the three main casts, they forged a friendship with the same mission to save Taru from being separated with his mother, Tila.

The most interesting part of this musical was that the life-sized dinosaur puppets was actually made of 'bones' to make them look realistic and with human controlling the movement like those doing Lion Dances. As much as I enjoyed watching musicals,  I find the plot for Musical Taru a bit too draggy, however, the casts did a fantastic job with the songs and dances which kept me going. There were quite a few laughing points, one of which was how the mummy got it's name as James Bond 詹姆士绷带. The adventure even featured our local landmarks like the Bukit Timah Hill.

[OUTING] Adventure Cove Waterpark + Dolphin Island at RWS

On the last Sunday of the year, I went to have a splashing good time at the Adventure Cove Waterpark, RWS as I've won myself one admission ticket to the Adventure Cove plus Dolphin Island from the SEAA Blue Planet Instagram Contest. Didn't have any photos inside the Adventure Cove as our phones were all locked up in the locker.

The park is fairly small and super crowded compared to the waterpark I went to at Legoland. There was already some delay of about 20 minutes at the entrance as they process my admission tickets and each ride inside takes about half an hour to 45 minutes waiting time. Oh, and I found the floor super painful to walk on barefooted. I'm not sure why.

Out of the 15 water attractions, three of them requires separate admission charges - Dolphin Island, Ray Bay and Shark Encounter.

The only attraction that we find attractive and can't be found at Legoland waterpark is the Rainbow Reef whereby one can snorkel with 20,000 friendly fish over a colourful Rainbow Reef. Waiting time is approx 1hr and 45 minute for this though. Since I have reserved my time slot to the Dolphin Island at 5pm, we decided to skip this and the rides and just went to the Adventure River or commonly known as The Lazy Pool that brings us through 14 themed zones including a lush garden, a mysterious grotto and an underwater tunnel experience where we watched stingrays swimming around. We also went to the Bluewater Bay or commonly known as The Wave Pool twice to relax.

Inside the Dolphin Island, there's a wide range of programmes that lets you interact with the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins and learn more about them and they all comes in a different price tag. I went in alone and I was on the Dolphin Discovery program which cost S$98 if I have not won the ticket. For those who just want to go inside but do not wish to get down to the water, it would cost S$68. 

Bf found a spot at the second level and took photos and videos of me interacting with the dolphin through the grill! Thank you for the hard work and finding this nice spot. Hehe. Photo taking was not allowed inside as they have their own professional photographer to capture the special moments. Thus, all these photos and videos inside are sneakily taken.

The Dolphin Discovery program is suitable for non-swimmers with towels and wetsuits provided. Guests must be at least 4 years old to enter and Children below 110cm in height must be carried by a paying adult during the interaction.

We had an up-close interaction with the dolphin under the guidance of the dolphin trainer, Victoria. We also learn some interesting facts about the dolphins and some hand signals to communicate with them. The dolphin's skin was so smooth because it shed off their dead skin every two hours!

I enjoyed the lovely precious moment with the dolphin. If Quokka is the happiest animal on land, dolphin would be the happiest animal underwater. ^^ The aboved two closed-up photo with a leather folder cost $75. However, I felt the need to buy since these are the only closed-up photos of me with the dolphin and since my admission tickets is already complimentary.

Leaving Sentosa via the Sentosa Broadwalk to Vivo City for our dinner at JPot and I used a $50 mapletree voucher to pay part of it. Voucher won from the Innovati50n Instagram photo contest. Today is the day to use up my vouchers since the year is ending soon. Hope I will continue to be so lucky always. Thank you.

[Outing] Fun night out at Trick Eye Museum , RWS Sentosa

Merry Christmas to all my readers! I've turned into Ms Santa at the Trick Eye Museum and did a hilarious dance which makes all my friends laugh at me. (Contemplating to post out that video on my instagram)

This is my second time visiting Trick Eye Museum and this video segment is something new. I'm glad that Trick Eye Museum always refreshes its gallery from time to time and it's interesting to find new themed zones and some interactive 4D concepts elements to enhance the whole experience. Read my post on my first visit to Trick Eye Museum last year here.



Found out that this is actually their first revamp conducted by the Korean-based gallery for this Singapore branch located at Resorts World Sentosa. Renewal works was done from 19 to 30 October this year and now the museums see six new themed zones with more than half of the museum being updated with new exhibits. The new and exciting themed zones are targeted to awaken the five senses of our human body by evoking the six different emotions stimulated by the zones. The new zones are 'Mystery', 'Excitement', 'Supernatural', 'Fairytale', 'Fantasy' and 'Trick World'.

My friends and I, together we begin our Trick Eye Museum adventure. We had so much fun and laughter taking photographs inside and we were the last few to leave. Let me go through some of the exhibits, what to look out for as well as what are the new exhibits.

Even though this is not a new exhibit, but because of the different angle I'm standing this time round, it has created a brand new feeling. 

Still amused by how a simple slope can create that giants and dwarfs effect.

I'm trapped in an hourglass. If only I could turn back time with this, would the ending to my story be different?

[RWS Invites] World Ocean Day : Follow Me to S.E.A Aquarium to Save the Ocean

After our Triumph event, we happened to spot this Save the Ocean Truck by RWS Sentosa right in front of Hereen.  

Decided to take part in their simple activity to Fish for Trash as well as their Instagram Contest. We have to pick up items classified as trash such as the plastic bottles and cans. Thanks Jo for the photo of me standing right outside the truck.

What's inside the truck is a simple illustration on Marine Conservation. The whole thing can be explained in the following excerpt I copied out from the June issue of the RWS Invites magazine.

RWS INVITES JUNE 2015 ISSUE (EXCERPT)

As we celebrate World Oceans Day this month on 8 June, we dive into two issues that affect our deep blue seas; plastic pollution and sustainable seafood. We can all help in small ways to conserve our seas.

What is plastic pollution

Plastic pollution involves the build-up of plastic products in the environment. Let's face it: It's virtually impossible to escape plastic. And when we throw things like plastic bags and plastic bottles out, there's a high probability they'll end up in our oceans. Research has shown that approximately 80 per cent of marine litter comes from land, and the majority of it is plastic. 

How does plastic pollution affect us and our oceans? 

Aside from the unsightly filth on coastlines, plastic pollution has a negative impact on us and our health because in one way or another, we're all actually ingesting fragments of it. Think about where your water and food (especially seafood) originate from. Some studies have found a link between the chemicals found in plastics and medical conditions like cancer and immune system problems. 

The ocean's inhabitants suffer as well. It's not uncommon for sea turtles, seabirds and other marine creatures to mistake a plastic bag for food (those things do look like jellyfish underwater), and when they unknowingly consume plastics, they either chock to death, get their intestines blocked or die from starvation because their digestive systems don't function as well. 

What can I do to help reduce plastic pollution? 

- Try and reduce your usage of plastic bags. Pack a reusable bag or two when you're out shopping.

- When you go out, bring a reusable water bottle and top that up instead of constantly purchasing bottled water. 

- Have a set of reusable utensils at your office for when you buy food back, so you can say no to disposable plastic utensils. 

- Get rid of your plastics the right way by throwing them into recycling bins available. 

- Volunteer at a beach clean-up.

Watching the fishes swim in the aquarium sort of have a calming therapeutic effect on me. The aquarium is fantastic but the crowd on a Sunday makes the whole experience not as nice. Hope to be able to swim along with them one of these days.
