Highlights at the Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2014

The Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2014 is probably the glitziest event I attended so far this year.

Inspired by the colourful, beautiful and exquisite display of Jewelry around the World, this year's event theme is known as "Jewels in Color". The show focuses on the latest trends on jewelry crafted in the beauty of gold, white, yellow, rose, purple and black and encrusted in the widest range of precious stones of all hues.

FACTS OF THE EXHIBITIONS

The Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) is the Largest Consumer Jewelry Event in Singapore showcasing more than US$120 million worth of exhibits by 200 exhibitiors from 20 countries, spanning 8,000 square metres at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. It's has the largest collection of diamonds and rare, natural gemstones in Singapore and also the largest contingent of jewelers from Italy to date.

TIPS BEFORE GOING TO THE EXHIBITIONS

Some of the tips I can offered before you went to the exhibition is to first know your budget and what you want to buy. If you are unsure what kind of gemstones you are looking for, you may consider referring to this chart to find out what's your birth stone. For mine, I'm lucky to have two choices, I can choose either pearl or moonstone. Bf's birth stone is aquamarine. I was so dazzled by the amount of jewels inside the exhibition, I went to say that his birthday is in April. Oops.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EXHIBITIONS

One of the biggest highlight at the exhibition is this exceptionally rare 50.55 carats white cushion-cut diamond presented by DeGem with sparkle and brilliance so stunning it will take your breath away. Nicknamed 'The White Fire', this spectacular 'D' colour diamond is valued at US$10 million! 'D' colour is the highest possible colour grading for colourless diamonds. It is almost flawless with very slight inclusions that go virtually unnoticed, and possess no fluorescence at all. The cut is of finest proportions, allowing the diamond to display spectacular fire metrics with a balanced and cohesive sparkling pattern. In addition to its already impressive list of stats, the White Fire has been examined and determined to be a Type lla diamond, a class of diamonds known to be the world's most chemically pure.

Among the special limited edition buys exclusively procured for the show include DeGem's 0.99ct Diamond deal, featuring an unbelievable selection of over 200 GIA-certified, fancy-cut, 0.99ct diamonds. Diamonds weighing just under 0.99cts are in high demand, rare in the market and can cost almost 40% less than 1.00ct diamonds. These amazing pieces are priced from S$5,800 per piece.

I also get a chance to view this pair of exquisite diamond earrings in white gold from IVY Masterpiece. This S$1 million dollar earrings are made up of a cushion cut 10.03 carats Fancy Intense Yellow diamond, a 2.07 carats white cushion diamond, a 8.05 carats white cushion cut diamond and a 2.02 carats yellow cushion cut diamond. If I didn't know these stats, I wouldn't have realised any difference in the carats of the two earrings. Both looks almost the same in size.

We stopped over at YULI YULI as their booth was decorated like a bar counter. They also served wine to visitors who are there to view their jewels. This guy was really very smart to pick the gemstone that matches my OOTD. Thank you for showing me this two beautiful gemstones but it's way out of my budget. It cost almost $20k.

Visitors to the show are really spoilt for choice. The most exquisite and affordable jewelry from all over the globe with price range from S$59 to S$10,000 are  crafted by some of the most talented jewelers from Italy, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and more.

Bears!

FASHION SHOW AT THE EXHIBITIONS

Am lucky to catch the jewelry fashion show. Today's show focus on Italian Affairs.

I also want to be part of the fashion show! Standing next to an artwork by Thomas Diego Armonia, an Italian artist based in Paris who has become rather prominent in recent years for his distinctive style of painting only women and their adorable ample faces.

Big thanks to Yufan for the invites and showing me around the place. Although I didn't buy anything inside, it was really an eye-opener event to see so many jewelry.

Sad to say, the only "Carat" I can afford now is probably this "Carrot". Perhaps I need to eat more carrots to save money and buy the real carat. #Justsaying
