When bf told me that we are travelling, my first reaction was surprise and then when I realized that we are going to this Private Island called Telunas Island Resort (Riau, Indonesia) with NO WIFI and NO SHOPPING, my surprise turned to shock. For a social media addict like me who have to check on my hp every now and then for new notifications on my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Mail, Pinterest, Flipboard, Dayre, Carousell, can I survive without using any of these apps?
Fresh look before boarding the ferry at Harbourfront Ferry Terminal to Sekupang Ferry Terminal for another 90 minutes boat ride before we eventually reached Telunas Island.
Sharing a tip. Travel light and wear comfortable shoe. This is not the time to show off your killer heels.
Upon arrival, the friendly staff handed us a cold tower and our refreshing welcome juice.
We were given a short introduction by the founder Michael Schubert before we were lead to the Water Villa where we will be staying in. Ours is the 4th villa from the left.
Mandatory villa tour! The living room, bedroom, bathroom and the attic. Pretty glad that they do provide the necessary toiletries.
Now I shall summarize the 10 things I did to make myself forget about using my handphone.
3. The sands are plenty in all the beaches but the difference between building sandcastles here is that your sandcastles will not get ruined so fast.
4. You are just free to roam around the island. You may also request for a boat ride to other nearby islands.
5. It's quite hard for me to really sit down and find time to finish reading a book. They provide kindle that is pre-loaded with some books of different genre so that you might be able to do some reading. Or you may also bring your own books to read.
6. Massage is the only activity that requires extra charges (exclusive tips) and during the soft launch, they only have one masseur so have to book early. I tried their Telunas Massage for a restful indulgence. It was done inside one of the water villa. We paid S$80 for two so it's S$40 each for the message. They charged by either Ruppiah, SGD or USD.
7. At the lounge area, there's a game corner with all the board games and card games. We played UNO and the cards are a bit torn and old. It's hard to keep things in good condition when it's shared by too many people.
8. The view of the sunrise/sunset is beautiful. This was spotted and taken from our villa at around 6.15am.
9. Counting stars. Yeah, or just admire the moon. No high rise buildings, unrestricted view of the vast sky.

1. Water sports like kayaking and stand up paddle board are free for use for as long as you like. There is no per hour charges like some other places. Just have to make sure you wear your life jacket and ensure your own safety at all times.
2. Another free activity. Sun tanning by the beach. Lazing on this comfortable beach chair without any worries at all.

10. Three meals are served over a two hours long period. Before each meal, they will write down the menu of that day on the blackboard and they will take down your order. We usually choose different set so that we can try each other's dishes. Saves me all the trouble of deciding what to eat and the cost is already included in the package. We just have to gather at the reception area during meals time and we will be served with super delicious meals by the super friendly staff there. I keep asking for more chili and bf say if we could make that kind of chili in Singapore, we can open our own restaurant already.
Someone asked if I would go back again and I say not really. Not because this is not a nice place. I enjoyed myself there but the world is so big, there's not enough time to go back to the same place again. I'm eager to explore many other places. For my next trip, I'll be going to Kuantan, Malaysia with my family.
Big thanks to bf for taking the initiatives to arrange and pay for this trip which is also my birthday present. "We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly" -- Sam Keen.
Cost for this trip (including private boat ride and the meals) is S$425.00
