Dinner at Jpot Vivo City - Hotpot Singapore Style

Had dinner at Jpot Vivo City with my colleagues.
JPOT makes me associate it with Japanese pot but I was wrong.
It was actually just steamboat and in Singapore style.

We were allowed to choose for round table, booth or small group sitting in the air-conditioned restaurant or enjoy the alfresco dining with a serene view of the harbour.
We choose the air-over the natural breeze. I felt the table was quite squeezy for the 5 of us though.

Only the sauces are buffet style. This is the row of different sauces. Really cool. There's peanut sauce, sesame sauce, spring onions etc.

We choose the herbal and bak kut teh broth.

Haha. This is not a dish by itself. It's the result of different sauces mixed together. Looks yummy?!

This meat ball is bigger than my fist.

So bloated after eating. Thanks cl, yt, viv, lor for the treats. Overall, I felt that it's quite expansive to eat here for steamboat as it's not buffet style. Every item we ordered will be charged. Didn't really get the satisfied fulling effect. The round table space is not big enough either. The only wow factor would be the way they present the food like on a nice plate decorated with some lettuce. Somehow I would say this is a high class steamboat but not quite my style.

Charlie St. Cloud at ILuma Filmgarde

Received a SMS from the nuffnang team informing me that I've been selected to catch this movie - Charlie St Cloud and I only have 15 minutes to decide and RSVP. By right, those who have won would have received the confirmation e-mail yesterday. So I guess some of the winners couldn't make it and I was lucky enough to get in. :)

Charlie St Cloud

I felt that the trailer has somewhat cover the storyline of the whole movie. Charlie and his brother Sam was very closed, both died in a car accident, Charlie was brought back to life and was given a "gift" that is to see the spirits of dead people. So he and his brother make a promised to meet every evening. For years, they lived this way until Charlie met the love of his life, Tess. The twist in this movie is when we realised that Tess whom Charlie saw and chatted with was actually her spirit and not the human form. The real Tess has met with a mishap out in the sea when her sailboat sank and her body couldn't be found for 3 days. So we thought so sad, Charlie's precious brother is dead, now even his lover is also dead. However, she was brought back to life with the help of Charlie and also Sam (as his soul guided the direction out in the sea). The movie ends with Charlie and Tess together on the sailboat.

Must admit most of the time while watching this movie, I'm really just admiring Zac Efron. He's so dashing acting as Charlie with his blue eyes and tousled hair. Storyline wise, this movie actually didn't bring out the emotions that well. I even have thoughts of getting the novel in order to get a better insights of the story so I went to the National Library Board website to check if there's any available but all were on loan. Only those in Chinese were available.

Goodies that comes along with the movie tickets includes the "I love nuffnang badge" Charlie St Cloud movie poster.

Dinner/supper time

Yummy Pig Organ soup at this stall near Lavender market. Too bad I don't know how to appreciate this dish. I only eat like the rice, the soup, the chili, the tofu and abit of the pork meat. I don't like the pig intestine etc.

PS3: PlayStation Move : Start the Party !

Congrats to bf for officially completing Final Fantasy XIII ! ! !
It too him just half a year to complete this game, achieving 100% trophy rates.
Of course, he did so with the help of the guidebook that he also bought.
Otherwise, I think he might need a longer time.
Next on his game list is Dragon Age Origins.
Another RPG game.
It's to be played from scratch, starting at 0%.

The trophy completion list.
Has completed 97% of Mini Ninjas.
The remaining 3% requires us to re-play the whole game from level one.
That trophy (Stop! Futo Time!) is to simply use Futo (one of the Character) to kill at Least one samurai on every level.
Incredibly hard to swallow the fact that we have to re-play the game all over.

Gamers of the day!

Yay!
Finally the PlayStation Move controllers were all set up by bf.
It's time to get some actions and play Start the Party!

Bf with the controllers that changes colours.

Okie.
Snap a photo in the beginning to lock the character in.

Enjoying myself.

Zapping the ghosts.

Random snapshot.

Another random snapshot.

Whao!
Careful!
I'm holding a sword now!
Slicing the fruits that's going to fly by!

His turn to slice slice the pineapple.

Looking good.
Let see who can slice the most number of fruits.

Now the sword changes into a pizza pan to see who can hold the most number of ingredients that falls down.

The pizza pan turned into a mini fan in the next game.
The idea is to blow the chicks falling down back into the nest,
Instead of blowing, I keep killing the poor chicks with the blades of the fan.
Not intentionally but accidentally.

Bf's hand is tired. Haha.

After 5 rounds of games, bf still wins me.

He being crowned the champion.
He always wins.
Boo.
:(

PS: I suddenly have a business idea and that is to let people come to play in the daytime for let say $2 per hour? Only problem is nobody would be at home in the morning and the room is in such a messy state. If next time I have my own house, maybe one room would be for games and partying. :)

Happy 22nd birthday to Bro~!

Once a year during Chinese New Year?

Random photos of me and my relatives.

Hãagen-Dazs make someone melt this mid-autumn festival ice-cream mooncakes

Bf pre-ordered this box of $62 ice-cream mooncake from Hãagen-Dazs and I only knew it when I wanted to buy ice-cream mooncakes too but from Swenson. It's due for collection today so we picked it up from the Holland Village branch.

This box of "mooncakes" is called "Precious" containing a macadamia nut ice cream mooncake, surrounded by 3 vanilla and 2 Belgian chocolate miniature ice cream mooncake. The big one when cut opened would have a mango sorbet "yolk" inside.

Other then the appearance that makes them looks like mooncake, there is actually little resemblance of the traditional or even snow skin mooncake. In fact, it does feels abit like eating magnum ice-cream. So my parents commented that with that amount of money, actually can buy 20+ magnum ice-cream already. As for me, I think this type of price is reasonable for this brand but I still finds it too steep for our normal consumptions. Well, so thanks for bf's if not I think we wouldn't be eating this high class mooncakes this mid-autumn festival.

"Charlie St. Cloud” Special Preview Tickets Giveaway!‏

Introduction

We all know Zac Efron as Troy Bolton, the popular student and captain of the basketball team in High School Musical and now he's back again, starring in the latest romantic movie - Charlie St. Cloud. This movie is based on an acclaimed novel.

Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) is an accomplished sailor and has a close relationship with his brother Sam (newcomer Charlie Tahan). However, they got into a car accident and only Charlie survived after which he was granted with the power to see his dead brother and both made a promised to play baseball together in the woods every night.

One day his classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home and Charlie became fond of her. He was thus torn between honoring the promise he had made with his brother or to move on to be with Tess.

Who would I like Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) to choose – his brother or the girl he likes? And why?

For me, I would like Charlie St. Cloud to choose Tess, the girl he likes. His brother is already dead and he must accept this fact and move on. Although he is able to have the power to see his dead brother, that is just an illusion. He needs a real person who is able to accompany him till old. As for his brother, I'm sure his soul would also be happy for Charlie if he had really found his real love.

Shopping at Far East Shopping Center + Movie: Babies at Lido + KTV at Jurong Safra

Had lunch and did a little shopping at Far East Shopping Center before bf and I went to catch a movie at Lido Cineplex at Shaw Theatres.

Lido cineplex will undergo a $20 million revamp soon and will be closed from next month onwards all the way till April 2010. The cineplex's famous wall mural depicting well known film characters will be gone together with the fast food outlets on the fifth floor. Thus, this would be the last time we can watch a movie there.

Last time when I was still working at FEO, bf and I would frequently watched movies here but now we only came here when there's movie vouchers or when certain movies are only shown at Shaw theatres.

Passed by Lido 1 to get to Lido 7 which is right at the end for our movie.

So what movie kind of movie did we watched before the cineplex closed down? We decided to watch Babies by Thomas Balmès which is only available at Shaw cineplex. Now I realised not all movies are shown at all cinemas. Babies are only shown at Shaw cineplex but not Haunted Changi.

I am pretty surprised that the whole theatre was 3/4 full house. We were seated 3rd row from the screen and the audiences are a mixtures of males and females. My row there's 5 guys and I'm the only lady. This movie or rather documentary follows the birth till the first steps of four babies from 4 different parts of the world. Ponijao from Namibia, Bayarjargal from Mongolia, Mari from Tokyo and Hattie from San Francisco. The babies are so adorable and watching them growing up, living their everyday lives are just irresistible. Without any narration, subtitles or any comprehensible dialogue, we watched the beauty of the newborns and chuckle to how they react innocently to things around them.

The four different environment and upbringing makes the four babies unique in their own way. Both Ponijao and Bayarjargal lived closer to the natural while Mari and Hattie was raised in the modern city.

One would expect to see scenes of Ponijao having a wet tongue licking session with the dog, playing with stones and whatever she could find on the floor, dance like the dance of the waka waka song, balancing an object on her head while walking, drinking water from the stream and the classic scene from the trailer trying to snatch a plastic bottle but failed and get hit.

We laughed when we see how the mother wrap and tie Bayarjargal up like tying a parcel when he was just born. We giggles when we see his brother disturbing him by hitting him with a towel. We were delighted when we hear him speaking his first word which is "mama" and he can goes on continuously for 20 seconds just saying "mama, mama, mama!" We love the way he crawl with his head nodding side by side. We were amused when the goat pops by to drink from the basin he was bathing in.
Mari the sweet little girl gets frustrated when she's attempting to place a spindle into the hole of a disc but she never gives up, she try again and got frustrated again for many times. She went for babies classes and learnt walking with her father by her side.

Hattie with her sky blue eyes fascinates us with the way she peels the banana and eats it. She belongs to one of the more privilege baby in the movie beside Mari as she has cultured and literate parents who reads to her and show her books with title of "No Hitting" when she hits her mummy.

All in all, whether the babies are in whatever parts of the world, we see them being loved, we see the personality of each child emerging and it's definitely a nice show to catch before it became taken down.

So after the movie, we went upstairs to Lido 2 to take more photos.

Me standing beside the wall of photos. Hall of fame?

Bf at the stair with the wall mural. There is a contest whereby the one who can get the most number of films name of the wall mural wins tickets to Hong Kong. Sounds easy but actually no. I'm not sure if anybody can get all the correct answers. Perhaps only the person who paints the wall mural knows the answers.

Me overlooking Ion Orchard.

Went home to take a short nap before we went out for the outing of the night. $8 KTV at Jurong Safra from 7pm to 10pm organised by Lis and friends.

East straight. Room number 26.

And this is the corridor name.

$8 only, super worth it and the system is hi-tech one. Not like some places. This is touch screen one. We picked a lot of A*Mei songs in the beginning.

Enjoyed myself and even bf is in the singing mood and we have SH who really sings well. All were mesmerised by her singing skill when she sing Olivia Ong - You and me and some of Angela's songs. To bring the atmosphere high, Lady Gaga's songs were also sang by Lis and Jc. Get to know new songs like "好听-许茹芸" which I know how to sing but didn't know the singer and title until today. Get to know that Grace also likes Jay's songs and Ding Dang's songs which we both can sing together. We had fun until 10 pm while some go for supper, most went home. If I wasn't so tired, I might go for supper since we did not even have our dinner yet but we were too tired to think of eat. Just wanted to go home, bath and sleep.
