[PERSONAL] Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration + KTV

My Mid-Autumn Festival this year turned out to be a very fun and memorable one. Upon knowing that I have this mid-autumn outing with my friends, my mum decided she wants to come along as well. Look at how happy she is, she must have remembered some good old memories of playing with paper lanterns.

We gathered at Labrador Nature Reserve which was a good location as it's not too crowded and is quite easily accessible for everyone with the circle line. Thanks RKM for organizing this outing otherwise I would probably be staying at home.

The paper lanterns I brought along. Took a while to set up but it's really pretty.

Really enjoyed the happy gathering with my mum, Jessie, Meryl, Joanne, not forgetting Kelvin (Jess's Beau) who ensures our lanterns stay lighted throughout and brought us in. Didn't even know he burnt his finger until I read Jess's post. Ouch. Thank you so much.

Mid-Autumn Festival completed with moon cake tasting. Jessie brought hers from RT Pastry House in Malaysia while I brought one which I randomly receive today.

Full moon tonight! Moon gazing time. After which, we walked back to the carpark in this very dark trail with our lighted lanterns.

RKM brought all of us to a nearby restaurant called Sum Kee located at Yeo's Building. We all agreed that we have a feeling as if we were not in Singapore because of the decorations and setting there.

We had Ultraman Chicken, Wa Wa Steamed Tofu, Sambal KangKong and Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs. I love the Wa Wa Tofu and Sweet and Sour Pork the most. The Kang Kong is a bit too salty and the Ultramna Chicken is called Ultraman cause it's salted egg and salted egg in Chinese is 鹹蛋。

Happy faces when the food arrives. Appreciate the treat from Kelvin.

The night is still young for us so we continue the night by going to KTV at PartyWorld, Clementi. It's about 10pm when we've reached and my mum have went back home to rest already as she's feeling tired.

Thanks Meryl/Jessie for the photo. We were lucky to get student price and even an extension of 30 minutes but that is not even enough for us! When the time reached we still have 4 pages of songs unsang! Goodness. I think we have to resort to singing on our singing app in our phones. Haha. Had a really great day. Love my friends who are so fun and spontaneous.

XOXO

KTV at Ten Dollar Club + Love Scar + Another Snow White Story

TGIF : Today Got Indian Festival!

Happy Deepavali and Happy Holiday to everyone!

The moment you started working, public holiday like this is very precious. Treasured it and spent the rainy day at home packing, clearing emails and watching show online.

One week ago, on the 6th Nov 2012, I joined my group of blogger friends for a KTV session at Ten Dollar Club (Chinatown Outlet). Each of us only paid  $12 to sing from 7.30pm to 12.00Mn and we are even entitled to free flow of hot and soft drinks. Super cheap and reasonable.

Rushed there after my work and luckily managed to find the place. It's located at 35A Smith Street 3rd Floor Singapore 058945. Smith street I know, cause it's the street with lots of foodies one. Yum Yum.

Another good point here is that they do not really make noise when we filled the whole table with outside food. Since we all rushed down from work, we actually didn't have a proper dinner. William was very kind to buy a mix of some snacks and I brought the leftover Char Siew Su from meeting too. So that's our dinner for the night. Haha. Of course, we have to clear the rubbish at the end ourselves and can't leave on the table.

The only downside of this place is that the remote control is rather insensitive. If you want to choose songs, have to walk to the front and use the touch screen monitor there. Halfway, the system even hanged and have to auto restart.

I find the songs selections quite okay too since I'm not very familiar and updated with the new songs, so I'm fine to sing older songs. Haha. Towards the end, even clubbing songs like Taio Cruz's Dynamite and super oldies like Dancing Queen were also sang by us. Haha. So fun with them around!

Zerika sang a song by Melody which I find it very nice. Below is the video of the song. Though it's not some new song but this is the first time I heard it and I liked it straight away.

Only William sang this super sad song by Jacky Cheung called Wo Zhen De Shou Shang Le. Scenes of Jerry Yan, Karen Mok and Jacky Cheung himself were flashed out in the MTV. Jessie then told us that they are actually scenes from a very old drama called "Love Scar". As she went on to tell us the storyline, I'm starting to get more interested about the drama. What's more Jerry Yan is so young and boyish inside. Super like.

So, I've finished watching Love Scar within one afternoon since it's only 3 episodes. This drama is based on a Japanese Manga also called Love Scar by Ichijo Yukari. Don't watch this on YouTube as it only show until episode 2.

Synopsis

"Time to meet the family... but what happens when your brother-in-law turns out to be your ex? She met Zi Lin (Jerry Yan) during a trip to Japan with her college friends 4 years ago. Love was unexpected, their age came between them. Giving into love, they remained together until his mother broke them up. She was Zi Lin first love, believing that she played him, he became a womanizer, taking revenge on all women yet never did she leave his heart. He was going to get her back no matter what. Even if it meant hurting his brother, especially after he found out the truth about his and Gen Sa's split. Zi Liang (Jacky Cheung) was heartbroken when he discovered that his brother was the one from her past. Consumed with guilt for causing the brothers, Gen Sha (karen Mok) leaves them both but the brothers are waiting for her to return when she is ready..."

I didn't cry after watching this drama. Just felt wasted for them. Again, it's another story of how the mum's interference cause hurts in a relationship of this three parties. There's no perfect happy ending to this drama since Karen Mok choose to leave both. I mean how can she be happy when the guy she loved is still Jerry Yan and Jerry Yan still loves her too but she still choose to leave? Maybe this is the best ending cause she don't want to cause more harm to Jacky Cheung. Sigh. I think they should just elope and start afresh according to Jerry's plan.

Anyway, this drama brings me back to a story which was shared during meeting on 19 Oct 12 and I hope I can did a great recap of it.

We are all very familiar with the story of Snow White, but this is a different version of Snow White. We all knew that the stepmother hated Snow White very much and there's a reason behind it.

Sometime back, there is this stepmother who had a very pretty daughter. They lived in a run-down and abandoned castle deep in the forest all by themselves after her husband died. The king lived in the castle in town with Snow White ever since his wife passed away. Stepmother tried all ways to get the king's attention as she wanted her daughter to marry good and have a good life.

One fine day, the king decided to bring Snow White out for a trip. Their carriage tripped over a stone and the whole carriage toppled. Unknown to the king, this is actually part of the stepmother's plan to get him to notice them. For shortly after, the stepmother and her daughter came to their aid and the king falls in love with the daughter.

Everything went according to the Stepmother's plan but she doesn't know that her daughter is already in love with the stableman and they had planned to elope that night. Snow White found out about it when she saw them packing and went to inform the stepmother about this plan despite promising the daughter that she wouldn't tell.

That night, the stepmother killed the stableman and forced the daughter to marry the king. Ever since that day, the daughter's heart died and has never been happy ever since. The stepmother realized this, blamed it all on Snow White for she is the one who informed her of their plan to elope.

Snow White's side: She struggled for quite long before she decided to inform the stepmother on her daughter's plan to elope. Her thinking was that, if her daughter really elope, then Stepmother and daughter would be separated for the rest of their lives. Beside, she thought that all mothers would definitely do everything that is good and beneficial for their daughters, so stepmother would also make the best decision and grant her daughter's wish to let her choose her lover instead of forcing her to marry the king. This way, all can be happily living together

Stepmother's side: Who knows stepmother's best decision is that her daughter has to marry the king in order to live a good life and not to suffer in poverty if she marry the stableman.

In the end, who to blame?

Morale of the story: What you think is correct may not be the same for others. There's always many sides of everything. Do not assume that people will think like how you think about things. Lastly, never break promises. If Snow White never break her promise to keep the plan to elope a secret, things would have been a different ending altogether.

Ladies Night KTV at K Box Marina Square

We have been saying that we wanted to go KTV for like months but always didn't worked out. This time round we finally stopped procrastinating and gathered for this ladies night at K Box Marina Square.

Cabbed down with Missy and Hui and takeaway Mac for our dinner to be smuggled in. We thought we are in time for the National Day Promotion (Buy any Chicken McGrill Sandwich and get 1 free Chilli Chicken McGrill) but none of us noticed the tiny wordings below that says valid from 29 Aug 2011! We were one day earlier so was rejected  by the staff there. We still bought the normal and Chilli McGrill burger for trying. As the slogan read, "Fire in your belly" we are curious how spicy it can be and it's really quite spicy.

Me and Missy Tini. She's pretending that the chili sauce is the mic. Haha. My bubbly colleague at work who always encourages and helped me and make working fun. The KTV session is also arranged especially for her.

Wow. Beer in one hand, burger in the other.

Me and Hui. The organizer. She's a capable colleague of mine and loves to organize outings. This outing is also organized by her. One confident lady.

Hui - Me - Julie

For the first part of the KTV session, I think most of the songs were mine. My impatient character got the best of me as I go insert 3 pages of the songs in the top list which I usually did with my closer friends as I felt that songs in the top list should be those we are more familiar with and I'm super lazy to go search by artist, by song name, by language. Also, I felt that by doing this, we will get a mixture of different songs instead of just singing many songs by one artist at the same time.

Me and pretty Julie. She's one sweet lady.

Me and pretty Mich. She's one successful lady with a great, powerful voice!

Multi-racial. This is a super sad and emo Indo song called Aku Bukan Untukmu meaning I don't belong to you.

Three beauties. Nice shot even without the need to edit the photo.

Nice group photo taken by Missy.

Our dearest Missy got so high she started imitating Lulu from The Noose with her signature pose. Got to watch the video below if not sure what's the signature pose I'm referring to. Damn hilarious.

Ye-Si, Ye-Si, Tomato for Tornado, that's Michelle Chong for you. She is such a brilliant actress. She got another role as Leticia in The Noose. My funny colleagues are trying to imitate that accent too.

The last song sang by Mich and Missy. Hui Jia (Go home) before we really go back home. Was super duper tired but enjoyed myself.

After the KTV only Mich and Missy is still so awake. Both of them played around with the giant posters on the wall. I'm trying to get permission from Missy before I post up hers. xP

KTV at TopOne Bugis with Miki Yeo

June being my birthday month is supposed to be an enjoying and happy one. However, of the time I have to fall sick at this timing. Had a really bad cold and cough that don't seems to go away. However, despite feeling sick, I still went ahead with the KTV session at TopOne Bugis.

Opposite Bugis Junction and beside the famous Apple strudel cafe, this is my first time to this KTV. Usually only went to Kbox and Partyworld.

For the benefits of everyone, this is their price list. Quite reasonable pricing.

Her present for me. A mini pooh bear and tigger and a magical  black cup that will only reveal its background when hot water was poured in.

Enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. The songs were quite updated, and the atmosphere is pretty cool. Can change the lighting to disco lights and some other settings to play around. The touch screen menu is easy to use too.

After which, we have our dinner at The Soup Spoon. Read review here.

PS:

Her presents co-incidentally represent bf and I.
Me - Tigger (born in the year of Tiger)
Him - Pooh Bear (his name got the word that sounds exactly like bear in Chinese)
So this two soft toy would start representing us in some photos.

Cia Hui birthday celebration at BEDS KTV Pub

The reaction of some who seems shocked that I attended amused me alot. Just because I don't frequent pubs/clubs etc doesn't mean I wouldn't attend a friend's birthday there what? Furthermore, there's always a first time to anything. I was among the earliest to reach and I'm glad about it. Drank some beer and sang a few songs. Yes, it's my first time singing in the open hall with so many strangers. Luckily, one of Hui's ex-colleague sang with me. Stopped singing when the place gets crowded and my impressions towards some people changed from the way they talked. Hmmm.

Me and Hui the birthday gal, my listener cum OT buddy. She's really understanding and so pretty with her new hairstyle. Love this photo with the very nice effect done by her friend cum the photographer of the day.

Group photo. Overall, BEDS KTV Pub is a nice place to chill and relax. Took a cab back with PY at about 1am while the rest of them party on till 4am at another location. Personally I think I made the right choice of not staying. Sometimes, too many people around caused lots of gossips. Those kind of A don't like B, B don't like C, C like D, D like E or even more complicated than that. Luckily I wasn't there to witness and seriously I don't wish to find out what happened. Glad that the birthday gal is not involved. I wished that she enjoyed her birthday to the fullest and hope that she will get her recognition and finds her other half soon. :)
