[Review] PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure at Sands Theatre

Get ready for a PAW-some adventure! PAW Patrol Live! The Great Pirate Adventure is coming to life on stage at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands from 12 to 15 December. This is a fantastic show that's perfect for little fans of the popular animated series. Presented by Nickelodeon and VStar Entertainment Group in association with Base Entertainment Asia, this action-packed, music-filled show is sure to deliver lots of great entertainment and fun to kids.

I remembered how fond my girl used to be of PAW Patrol when she was younger and would watch it almost every day, singing along to the opening tune. That's when I started watching with her and learned the tagline, "No job is too big, no pup is too small. PAW Patrol is on a roll!". I also know the different names of the pups and I'm amazed I still can remember them now. There's Chase the Police Pup who is always on the case, Skye the Aviation Pup who is my girl's favourite character, Zuma, Marshall and more. We also had a collection of the PAW Patrol mini figurines from the gashapon machine, except for Everest, which is super rare.

I brought my girl along to the show with another mummy friend and her daughter, who is the same age as my girl. The show started with the introduction of Ryder and the pups, and the announcement that it's Pirate Day in Adventure Bay.

Ryder and the PAW Patrol team are on a mission to rescue Cap'n Turbot from a mysterious cavern, and when they do, they discover a secret treasure map. Together with Ryder and the PAW Patrol team, we had to solve picture puzzles on the treasure map as the pups raced over land and sea to find the treasure for Mayor Goodway's celebration before Mayor Humdinger finds it first.

It was super cool when the pups made an appearance with their vehicles, and I could hear excitement from the crowd.

This is one example of the Picture Puzzle we had to solve from the treasure map and the answer is Rainbow Tree!

The show features lots of catchy songs, encourages the audiences to learn pirate catchphrases and towards the end, many stood up and danced along, including my girl.

The show runs for approximately 90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. Plus, don't forget to check out the merchandise booth on site for some exciting PAW Patrol goodies!

Although my girl said this is a show for baby (in her opinion, those below 7 years old are babies), I could tell she still enjoyed the show. It's nice to provide kids the opportunity to experience in-person theater shows like this.

[Theatrical Show] The Mongol Khan Gala Night at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands

The highly anticipated theatrical drama, The Mongol Khan, is now showing in Singapore for a limited season until 3 November 2024. Jayce and I had been looking forward to watching it ever since we last attended the production and graphic novel launch event back in June. Read post here

Proudly presented by Base Entertainment Asia, following a sold-out run at the London's Coliseum, The Mongol Khan is a highly acclaimed production born from a collaboration between world-renowned international artists and creatives.

With performances offered in both English (Mandarin subtitles) and Mongolian (English and Mandarin subtitles), this epic performance brings together over 70 actors, dancers and musicians are involved in this large-scale production featuring lavish sets and costumes, ensuring an authentic and engaging experience that resonates across cultures.

The cast of The Mongol Khan includes Hollywood talents Ron Yuan as Archug Khan, Mark Dacascos as the Chancellor and Leonard Wu as Achir Prince alongside producer and international actress Bayra Bela as Queen Tsetser with performances in English. Renowned Mongolian stars Dulguun Odkhuu and Zana Gankhuyag add depth as The Consort and Khuchir Prince, respectively with performances in Mongolian.

I'm thrilled to attend the Gala Night of The Mongol Khan held at The Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands with Jayce again. As it was an 8pm show, we had some sushi dinner in the office after work before making our way down. We spotted some familiar faces and celebrities, and there was even an official photographer stationed to take photos. The gala night was truly exciting.

As the gala night performance was in Mongolian, I had to rely on the English and Chinese subtitles displayed on the screens. I sometimes struggled to keep up with the translations during captivating scenes. Overall, the performance was simply awesome, offering a unique glimpse into Mongolia's rich cultural heritage and history that engages the senses.

The 160 minutes (with intermission) show is a mesmerizing theatrical adaptation of Lkhagvasuren Bavuu's three-act tragedy, set in ancient Mongolia 2,000 years ago. Combining dazzling costumes, high-energy dance, acrobatics, puppetry, soulful songs, and passionate acting, the fictional story of ruler Archug Khan unfolds amidst a backdrop of jealousy, rage, betrayal, adultery, all brought to life by breathtaking lighting effects and elaborate stage set, making this a truly captivating play.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in culture, history, and breathtaking entertainment - 'The Mongol Khan' is a must-see! Check out the Marina Bay Sand's website for the full synopsis of this show.

[Tribute Concert] Hopelessly Devoted: A Celebration Of Olivia Newton-John

On 8 August 2022, the world lost an icon and legendary artist Olivia Newton-John. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, Olivia's musical legacy extends far beyond borders.

Snipped Picture from the Official Program List

I'm glad we had the chance to relive Olivia's timeless hits here in Singapore with a heartfelt tribute concert, Hopelessly Devoted: A Celebration of Olivia Newton-John hosted by Ms Tottie Goldsmith, Olivia's niece. This one-day-only concert was held at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands.

My Mom grew up listing to Oliva's songs during her younger days, so I brought her along with me to enjoy this lovely Saturday afternoon.

Dare to Dream - Cast
Banks of the Ohio - Jess Hitchcock

I Will Be Right Here - Jess Hitchcock and David Campbell

This particular song stole my heart from the first segment. Love the melody, the lyrics and I went back and searched for it on YouTube just to listen to the song again.

"Wherever you go
Whatever you do
Wherever you are
My heart is with you

No matter how far
I'll always be near
Whenever you need me
I will be right here"

Magic - Christie Whelan Browne

Suddenly - Christie Whelan Browne and David Campbell

Make a Move on Me - Georgina Hopson

Physical - Christie Whelan Browne

Following the high-energy performance to the song Physical, the show went into a short break for interval.

Love is a gift - Georgina Hopson and David Campbell

Take me home, Country Roads - Cast

The concert featured an impressive lineup of 23 songs, performed by Australia's talented vocalists and Singapore's Base Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jessica Gethin. It was a good mix of sentimental tunes to high energy hits. The second segment brought Olivia's Newton-John's iconic Grease era to life, with timeless hits like 'Hopelessly Devoted' performed and captivating the audience. The encores, 'You're the One That I want' and 'Xanadu' ignited the crowd's passion, and many stood up from their seats to dance to the familiar rhythms!

We were totally immersed and enjoyed ourselves during the concert. This concert reminded me how the power of music can transcend time and touch hearts with Olivia Newton-John's legacy continue to inspire many.

Exclusive Media Invitation

Triple J - Jessie, Jas, Jayce
Thanks Kelvin for the photo

I was thrilled to be invited to attend the First Look of The Mongol Khan and its graphic novel launch. Brought along Jayce with me and we walked over from office after work to attend this exclusive event at the Sands Theatre.

Cocktails and Canapes were served throughout and it was nice to meet familiar faces too!

First Look at The Mongol Khan
Sneak Peak of Some Traditional Dances and Performances

Mongolian Traditional Dance
Dancer: Enkhbolor

A graceful dance to express happiness. It is said that during a festive feast after eating and drinking, the Inner Mongolian people will grab wine cups from the table and start to dance. This dance therefore arose from this custom. Throughout the dance, we also noticed that the cups were actually filled with water as some scenes showing water being poured out of the wine cups. Such great skill of balancing without spilling the water inside.

Mongolian Original Dance
Dancer: Shijirmaa

This fascinating performance truly leaves a deep impression as this lady is able to made different sounds from the throat resembling that of the birds.

Mongolian Horse Fiddle
Artist: Maidarravjaa

It's amazing how this Mongolian Horsehead Fiddle, or Morin Khur, a humble two-stringed instrument, yet in the skilled hands can conjure evoke the thunderous gallop of ten thousand horses. The image of horses galloping in the vast, untamed green fields and I'm really impressed.

Mongolian Religious Dance
Dancers: Davaa, Maidarravjaa, Enkhblor, Lkhagva

The last performance was the Mongolian Religious Dance. It was truly an eye opener. Such colourful and elaborated masks and costumes. It does reminds me of the Chinese Opera dance.

The Mongol Khan Graphic Novel Launch
Autograph session with Hero Bataar, Director and Executive Producer and Author

The graphic novel went on sale after the performance. Kelvin bought a copy and scored a meet-and-greet with the director, Hero Bataar on stage to get the book signed. We were really curious as to how the autograph looks like and it turned out that Hero not only signed the book with his signature but he had also asked them to write their names and sign on the page. After which, he transformed their signatures into two animals!

Don't miss this spectacular theatrical show. Tickets are now on sale via Marina Bay Sands Ticketing, SISTIC and KLOOK. Quote "CHEWYJAS" to get 5% discount on Klook (Minimum purchase $50). UOB debit and credit cardholders enjoy a 15% discount off tickets across all categories and performances. [Media Invite] Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands

For the very first time, the highly acclaimed theatre production, Bluey's Big Play The Stage Show debuted in Asia at the Singapore's Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands on 13 June 2024. This was following a trail of sold-out performances across Australia, the UK, Ireland and North America.

This is a brand new stage adaptation of the BAFTA & Emmy® award-winning children's television series, Bluey which is produced by Ludo Studio and is also available in Singapore on CBeebies, BBC Player and Disney+. Bluey's Big Play in Singapore is supported by Base Entertainment Asia, Maybank, StarHub and SPH Media and presented by BBC Studios and Andrey Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Company.

"We're thrilled to be bringing Bluey's Big Play to Singapore at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Snads", said Director Rosemary Myers of Windmill Theatre Company. "The response to the show from fans across Australia, the U.S.A and the UK and Ireland has been nothing short of amazing and we can't wait for families in Singapore to experience all the fun and excitement of having Bluey and her family on stage live in their city".

I'm glad to have the opportunity to be invited to catch the show with four tickets thanks to Base Entertainment Asia. Since it's the school holiday, my girl followed me to my workplace and we took a nice and slow stroll after work to Marina Bay Sands.

During tickets collection, we spotted a handful of children dressing up as Bluey and Bingo which was so adorable. After collecting the tickets, we went to have a quick dinner while waiting for our friends Pink and Enya to meet us.

Throughout the 50 minutes show, audiences of all ages get to meet Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad as the Heeler family in different iconic sets with no interval. The storyline is nicely crafted to show the relationships between siblings and also the importance of putting down the phone to spend quality time with the children. It is very easy to relate to the Heeler family's adventures. There are also some interactive segments to keep the audiences engaged, for example when we were asked to copy the characters' action. Interestingly, I always thought Bluey is a boy and Bingo is a girl, it was only after watching this show that I found out that both Bluey and Bingo are girls. For this show, the crew operates the Giant puppets movements behind and they did it so skillfully.

Stayed around after the show ended as bubbles and large balls were released to the audience to bounce them around. This part certainly got all the kids and adults excited as we all tried to get a hand at bouncing the giant balls.

Glad the girls enjoyed the show and warmed up to each other quite easily. Thanks Mummy Pink who helped to capture the fun moments. Love our unspoken matching outfits with blue!
