I attended the SG50 N.A.I.L.S Festival which was held at Neverland II, St. James Power Station, with the PinkRoom International Nail Academy (PRINA) as the event sponsor. Held in conjunction with the SG50 theme, this event brings together the different aspects of the nail industry to celebrate the joyous occasion - Singapore's 50th birthday.
When I arrived at the venue, the main floor has already turned into a sea of pink. After a while, I realized that's the competition area and those people wearing pink are the contestants with their hand models. There are about 70 participants and 70 hand models and they came from Singapore and other regions. Today, they are going to pit their skills against one another in this PinkRoom Cup nail competition (PRCUP) for the coveted title of the overall Grand Champion Award. That's Ms Rachel Tang, PinkRoom's Founder and Principal giving the opening speech.
This is the 3rd nail competition by pinkroom. The first PRCUP was held in 2007. Everyone is waiting eagerly for the host to signal the start of the competition.
Getting ready. All the contestants are very focus, I was able to get up close to observe how these talented nailists do their nail art.
And this is one competition which I don't felt any tension in the atmosphere at all. Probably because there's live band playing throughout the event. First was Jazz and Pop band by Clarice & The Jive Collective.
Next on stage was this young local band from Singapore Polytechnic (Instagram #BENxJR). I was very attracted to the combination of saxophone and guitar plus they played the songs I love. Thus, I took some short clips of their performance and posted on instagram. Check it out.
In PinkRoom's bid of giving back to society, another main highlight of this event is the charity manicure. These are beauty professionals providing manicure, as well as other beauty and creative services to raise funds for their selected beneficiary, the Singapore Children's Society. This effort not only helps raise funds but also bring happiness to those children in need in our community.
KILLINEY was one of the sponsors for this event and I went to check out their booth.
Fun photo taking with Joanne.
I'm not a huge coffee fan but after trying one cup of their Premium White Coffee, I decided to purchase one box home.
Instant photo print out by MomentoGraphy. Thanks!
NYLON Singapore x Vanity Trove Beauty Box on sale at the event too. Some are actually retail sized products.
QTTIE, was also one of the sponsors. They allow you to build and customize your own manicure kit. Perfect for gel manicure.
SOTERIA booth that provides hair styling services.
Nail art gallery was set up to display all the nail art done by the nail professionals. This year, the theme of the nail art photo submissions is 'SG50', in conjunction with Singapore's 50th birthday. The three different type of nail arts are Stone Deco Art, Mixed Media Art and Flat Gel Art.
Stone Deco Art - Chinese New Year theme.
Flat Gel Art - SG50 theme.
Mixed Media Art - Japanese Style
Other interesting nail arts that I really like.
Everyone was very excited when it's time for Ms Rachel Tang and Ms Eriko Kurosaki, a world-renowned and award-winning Japanese Celebrity Nail Artist to be on stage to do a nail demo. Ms Eriko Kurosaki is also one of the VIP guest judge for the competition. She is considered one of the World's Best, being the only Japanese nail artist to have won first place in World Championships.
Didn't stay till the end of the event as I need to rush off for another event. Thanks to the many sponsors who makes today's event possible. Thank you for the invite, I enjoyed myself at the event.
