Despicable Me 2 + Minions Madness

When the trailer for Despicable Me 2 is released, I know for sure I'm going to watch it. It's been nearly 3 years when I watched Despicable Me (read old post dated 18 July 2010 here) and I fondly remembered those cute yellow minions, the adorable three little girls - Margo, Edith, Agnes and the supervillain - Gru.

Asked bf to accompany me to watch it since it's Wednesday and movie tickets are at a discounted price for Safra MovieMax member at Tiong Bahru.

SYNOPSIS

In this movie, we see Gru, the ex-supervillain now devoted to being a good father and even started a jam business. When the whole Arctic laboratory was stolen, Gru is the first person the Anti-Villain League decided to seek help from for the investigation. Reluctantly, Gru stopped his jam business and agreed to assist them. Gru was teamed up with the eccentric AVL agent, Lucy Wilde and they worked together to narrow down the suspect list. Gru was certain that the prime suspect is the presumed dead El Macho who is running a Mexican restaurant in the mall.

His son is also trying to date Margo, the eldest daughter. At the same time, the minions got kidnapped but Gru didn't seems to realise this as he was busy trying to find evidence to prove that El Macho is the one as well as trying to protect his kids. He also found himself falling in love with Lucy as time goes by. It turned out that Gru was right, El Macho was the mastermind and Dr Nefario was his helper.

Together, they turned the minions into the evil purple-furred monsters with the PX-41 serum. Dr Nefario, due to previously working with Gru helped Gru out by providing the antidote that would changed the evil purple minions back to the normal yellow ones. The movie ended on a happy note as El Macho was defeated and we see Gru and Lucy getting married after one hundred and forty dates later.

As the minions sang a rendition of "Y.M.C.A" and "I Swear" (Underwear), everybody dances. Suddenly, this purple minion appears and started screaming at the camera. The movie ends there.

Stayed for the credits and saw scenes of 3 minions appearing to be auditioning for the upcoming Minions movie.

REVIEW

The sequel turned out to be more funny, more entertaining and I really left the cinema feeling happy. I guess it's because the minions appear to have more screen time this time round. Every characters are very lively and well developed in their characteristic with the minions as the main tickling factors. The movie has a lot of heartwarming moments especially those parts when Gru pays attention to the three girls. How he freaks out when he learns that Margo went dating. The additional of Lucy as Gru's female counterpart completes the whole family. It's a great movie suitable for all ages to watch.
