Let's channel our energy into Community Games Sports !

When was the last time you've go out and played some outdoor sports? I'm guilty to say that I can't even remember! During my free time, what comes to my mind is either food, sleep or the computer. Sports is usually the last thing that comes to my mind.

However, today I'm going to share about this club that the People's Association has launched since 2006. It was known as the Constituency Sports Club but renamed as Community Sports Club (CSC) in 2011.

Community Sports Clubs

The Community Sports Clubs (CSCs) are part of the People's Association (PA)'s network of grassroots organisations. The 87 CSCs are managed by volunteers who work with the PA to organise sports activities for the residents to promote social cohesion, racial harmony and community bonding.

These are some of the sports that they have form time to time, Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Dragon Boat, Football, Netball, Road-run, Sepaktakraw, Swimming and Table Tennis. Yes, this is the platform to improve social cohesion and also at the same time make up for the physical well-being.

How to get involved

It's actually quite simple, just head down to your nearest community centre for more information.

Before you think that's all for my post, I would like to share this flagship program that the People's Association and the Community Sports Club is organizing, with the support from other Grassroots Organisations (GROs). Called the One Community Walk (OCW), it is a nationwide walking event with a twist.
The walk will flagged off on the same day at the same time within each of the 87 divisions. Each walk will cover a distance ranging from two to three km which is suitable for residents of all ages to participate.

Happening on 25 August 2013, please visit your nearest Community Club/Centre for more details. Let's walk together as one!

Some of the photos from the OCW 2012. Last year, it was held in conjunction with the Singapore National Games 2012 (SNG 2012) Baton Relay. Thus, the SNG Baton was seen in some of the photos. It made its way around each of the 87 divisions in Singapore through the help of about 20 baton bearers from each division.
