GYSB with Asia Pacific Breweries - The Cheers Challenge

This is the second time I joined the Get Your Sexy Back (GYSB) event. Thanks to Omy for selecting me again. Compared to the previous GYSB event in 2009 which was held at the Velvet Underground (read blog post here), this time the event was held at the Asia Pacific Breweries (Tiger Brewery) at 459 Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim.

The Asia Pacific Breweries is remotely located within the Tuas area thus a shuttle bus was provided at Boon Lay Interchange at 7pm. Well, I couldn't make it to the shuttle bus so I have to take SBS bus 182 to get there. The bus that came was a non air-conditioned bus and 99% on board the bus were male foreign workers except me, I'm the 1% female Chinese Singaporean. Quite a windy ride I should say.

It's easy to spot the Tiger Brewery with the big Tiger Beer logo and a digital clock but I still got off the bus one stop later. Have to walk back and it was quite scary as the path was dark and deserted. With bushes on the right and tall trees on the left, even though the road is just beside the path, I can't see the road and quicken my pace. I am really glad that Janet from Omy came out to fetch me, she's really nice and friendly.

We have to exchange our IC for this tour visitor pass.

Here goes, wanna see what's behind the door to the brewery?

Welcome to the world of Tiger. They do organised brewery tours as read from their website, but is temporarily closed.

I'm quite impressed that Singapore has our own world class brewery and I am able to visit it.

The Tiger Brewery has won awards including the recent "Brewers Association World Beer Cup 2010 Champion Brewery and Brewmaster" award.

Asia Pacific Breweries boasts a winning portfolio of over 40 beer brands and brand variants like Tiger Beer, Anchor Beer, ABC Extra Stout and Baron's Strong Brew. Also included in the portfolio are local beer brands such as Gold Crown in Cambodia, SP Lager in Papua New Guinea, Tui in New Zealand, No. 1 in New Caledonia, Cheers in Thailand and Larue in Vietnam.

Okay, I'm starved and luckily Janet asked me to put down my personal belongings and get some food first. Those who reached earlier have already eaten and were playing a game that requires one to wear a goggle with the effect of a drunkard. They were asked to walk in a straight line after wearing that goggle which is a difficult task. At the buffet area, I was delighted to find another blogger friend with her friend. Asked them to move over and sit with me and we had a great chat.

Welcome to the Tiger Brewery !
After a while, bf reached. I went out to fetch him. Took more photos. I think I looked like the Tiger lady here.  Well, I'm born in the year of Tiger so there's some kind of affection to anything related to Tiger?

Bf outside the souvenir shop which was closed.

In we entered the Tiger Tavern.

My Tiger beer and his Erdinger beer. So what is Get Your Sexy Back (GYSB)? It's actually a youth-led initiative aimed to encourage responsible drinking. Being a responsible drinker means drinking in moderation. This program is supported by Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore.  Moderation is the new sexy and binge drinking is dangerous. In fact, having five or more drinks in one session is considered as binge drinking.

Remember "It's not the drinking. It's how you are drinking."

A toast to our new friendship. With Hui Yan and Lina. It's great to chill out after work and chat about things unrelated to work. Destress.

After eating and drinking, we went over to play the Cheers Challenge to stand a chance to win attractive prizes like Sony CyberShots, iPads or even a dream holiday!

Bf is seriously playing the game and trying to toast the mug with the right people.

You may get to the website through the GYSB facebook page or directly at this link
This is really a fun game which requires us to be focus throughout and toast the mug to the right people when they pop up. Toast to the wrong one and your hand will turn swollen and lose a mug.

Level 1 is definitely the easiest stage. Try not to toast the wrong person in this round.

Level two is slightly difficult but manageable as the purple and magenta colour is quite close.

After level 2 is complete, there's a BONUS level. Grab as many water jar as possible.

Level 3 is most confusing. Do not toast Oscar with the tie but toast Oscar with the beer. I keep getting the wrong Oscar so lost a lot of mugs in this round.

Moved on to level 4. More characters popping up. Game over at this stage so I can't blog about how Level 5 is.

This is my highest score of 4800 points and is ranked as a Savvy Sipper! Of course, it's a better score at home compared to playing at the brewery as I have full concentration and used my own mouse but looking at those high score of 9000+ scored by other people, I really wondered how they did it.

After that, there's a KTV session. That's Mint singing. She's awesome.

360 view of the whole place.

Hui Yan and I received a cute Guinness handphone pouch.

Bf and his expressions amused me!

The event was to end at 10pm but almost everyone was reluctant to go back. So we took more photos. This is with our goodie bag.

Check out what's inside the goodie bag. The items are quite useful which includes a waterproof camera, traveler leather waller, beer opener and wet tissue.
