[Media Drop] DayLee Old School Hawker Ice Cream Christmas Gift Set

I remember back when I was still a little kid, I would get so excited when I hear the familiar ice cream uncle ringing his bell at the carpark for that would meant ice cream time for me! Sadly, this unique tradition is almost gone.

Glad to be introduced to DayLee, an ice cream and snacks wholesaler which aims to continue Singapore's heritage through local snacks and treats. Beside old school ice cream, they also sell traditional snacks like ice gem biscuit, flying fish biscuit and more. They offer a wide range of gifting options such as customized goodie bags for children parties and for Christmas, they had curated a Christmas gift set box!

Each Christmas gift set comes with ice cream blocks (up to 2 flavours of your choice), 1 loaf of rainbow bread, 1 pack of wafer biscuit, an instruction sheet and a Christmas greeting card. I chose Salted Caramel Brownie and Chocolate Chip as my two ice cream block flavours out of the 16 available hawker ice cream flavours.

So glad to be able to enjoy old school ice cream at the comfort of home. My brother had the ice cream with rainbow bread, while I prefer mine sandwiched between two wafer biscuit and my little girl had hers in a cup topped with mini M&Ms that I brough over.

Big thanks to my bro and his wife for hosting us at their house. They just got themselves a smokeless BBQ grill set and we were there to try it out. After dinner, we also played with the popular AI Manga filter on Tik Tok. Had so much fun.

Check out DayLee on Shopee - https://shope.ee/5UwRI8CFTW, I'm already thinking to get the customized goodie bags for my girl's birthday celebration in school next year!

[Media Drop] Enjoy the goodness of Soy with UNISOY

UNISOY, a 16 years local brand has been offering nutritious soy products for consumers to enjoy the goodness of soy in a fun and convenient way. They offers nutritious soy products that are creamy and tasty and are made from 100% de-skinned non-GMO soybeans. I've always love their fabulous soy milk that is filled with so much plant-based goodness, is calcium fortified and cholesterol free.

Their latest product, Soy Pudding Premix makes it so convenient to make your own soy pudding, or some prefer to call it beancurd at the comfort of home. The soy pudding is smooth, silky and tasty. It contains no gypsum powder and is best served chilled.

Making soy pudding has never been this easy. It only takes 3 simple steps to make the cold soy pudding and I did it in the office during my spare time. I think even my 5 years old girl would be able to make this easily.

These are the following steps:

1) Add 200ml of boiling water into a bowl

2) Pour a sachet of soy pudding premix & stir gently until completely dissolved. Remove foam and bubbles on the top layer.

3) Let it cool for at least 10 minutes before putting it in the fridge until it is set. For best texture, it is recommended to refrigerate for at least 6 hours.

Note: It is recommended to consume the cold soy pudding within 2 days from placing them in the fridge. This product is vegetarian friendly.

The UNISOY Soy Pudding premix can be conveniently bought on shopee at https://shope.ee/5fExHoav69 and I'm also running a giveaway on my IG (@chewyjas) till 25 November 2022 asking my followers what other flavours of Soy Pudding they would like to see in the future product. Some of the more unique flavours includes Pumpkin, Black Sesame, Banana and the more common ones are Matcha, Almond, Chocolate, Strawberry, etc.

They also have a range of nutritious UNISOY products, such as Black Soy Milk, Soy Matcha, Soy Cereal Drink and more!

For more information, please visit www.unisoy.com.sg to enrich your life with soy goodness.

[Products Review] My Favourite Daily Personal Care Products from Shopee

Decided to do a product review post to share on some of my favourite personal care products that I've been using on a daily basis which I bought online from Shopee. This is also one of the rare blog posts I'm sharing that is actually not food related.

I was first introduced to KUNDAL, Korea's No. 1 Personal Care Brand somewhere in July last year and since then, I've been using their range of hair care and body wash products. Thanks Jessie @dipmecocoa for introducing this brand to me!

I first started using their KUNDAL Honey & Macadamia Nature Shampoo in White Musk scent and I can feel significant changes to my hair. The scent of white musk can last for about a day and my hair felt soft and smooth after every wash making it so easy to manage.

Some of the benefits include:

- Contains 32 different natural extracts. All ingredients are EWG Green Grade (except perfume)
- No harmful chemicals or silicone so it's safe to use every day
- Helps maintain pH balance (pH 5.5, similar to skin & hair)
- Contains nourishing protein for damaged hair
- Comes in 9 different unique scent to choose from namely, Acacia moringa, Baby powder, Blanc, Cheery blossom, Clean Soap, Fuzzy navel, Pink grapefruit, White musk, Ylang ylang, there's definitely a scent that will suits you.

I'm currently using my second KUNDAL shampoo in BLANC scent and I think I still prefer White Musk to this. I intend to try out all their scents to see which one is my favourite. I've even changed my hubby's shampoo to this brand as well. The only thing that I don't quite like is the pump head. It seems that every time when I press the pump head, the shampoo just couldn't land nicely on my palm thus causing wastage.

Their hair treatment comes in a 500ml bottle as well and makes a good supplement to the shampoo. I'm using the KUNDAL Honey & Macadamia Treatment in Clean Soap. Similar to their shampoo, they have a variation of 9 different scents. Love how easily this treatment gets absorbed into my hair making my hair feels hydrated and silky.

Occasionally, I would use the KUNDAL Ultra Hair Serum to reduce the fizziness to my hair ends. This serum contains 15 different natural oil extracts and is a pure, highly concentrated oil with no addition of water and alcohol. Overall, with these three products, my hair condition improves tremendously. For once, I'm contemplating keeping my hair long instead of cutting it short every time it reach a certain length.

KUNDAL Honey & Macadamia Body Wash contains 42% Aloe Vera leaf extract and 23 different natural extract. I always look forward to a relaxing bath time when I get home after work and this body wash helps with the refreshing scent. My skin feels smooth and moisturize after shower. KUNDAL products is available for retail at Guardian or online at Shopee.

I started realizing the importance of incorporating feminine hygiene as part of my daily personal care routine after one of my friends suffered from yeast infections which is a common vaginal problem that most women will experience at some point in our lives. Have been searching for a good female intimate wash and was introduced to Sebamed Feminine Intimate Wash sensitive with pH 3.8 that is 100% soap and alkali-free. They also have one with pH 6.8 which is suitable for menopause years. The difference in pH value is due to the hormone level of estrogen which starts to go down during menopause phase. The one formulated at pH 6.8 contains Panthenol to soothe & regenerate irritated areas and also contains Witch Hazel as anti-bacterial and anti-itching effect.

For daily feminine hygiene needs, this product has the following benefits:

- Formulated with pH 3.8 to stabilizes the natural balance of micro flora in the female genital area during the fertile years of a woman's life
- For use during childbearing years and after child birth
- Protects against infections & odour
- Mild and gentle cleansing makes it suitable for daily use
- Natural moisturizing effect from Aloe Vera extract
- The active ingredient of Chamomile extract soothes & prevent irritation, provides an antibacterial effect

I've been using just a tiny drop of it during bath time and I love how it creates a nice lather on my wet hands. Most importantly, it is able to cleanse the intimate area gently without any irritation. It doesn't cause imbalance to the pH level of that area and helps to solve the odour and itchiness issues. I love the flora scent of this product and how it is dermatologically tested by gynecologists without any animal testing.

This product is made in Germany and is available for purchase at selected Watson stores or simply quote [CHEWYJAS] under the remarks to redeem a Sebamed Trial Set worth $10 upon purchase on Sebamed's E-Stores (Shopee & Qoo10) (While stocks last). That's all for my sharing now, I will try to share more interesting finds and reviews. Stay tuned!

[STAY HOME] My first IGTV on Traditional Matcha Preparation with Naoki Matcha + Happy Ice Ice-Cream + Kofuku Ramen & Don

Whenever I dine-in at a Japanese restaurant, I would usually ordered their hot Matcha as my drink. Matcha is known to improve our health as it is high in antioxidant, helps to prevent heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and even aids in weight loss according to some studies.

Recently, Naoki Matcha (@naokimatcha) delivered to me their Superior Ceremonial Blend Matcha Powder which is a versatile blend suitable for beginners to make lattes, matcha tea and etc. After doing some research, I realised that there is so much more knowledge in the traditional matcha preparation and it's not only just adding of hot water. To prepare Matcha in the traditional way, one would need the traditional Matcha Tools. I ordered them online from Lazada consisting of the Chashaku (Bamboo Scoop), Chawan (Matcha Bowl) and Chasen (Bamboo Whisk).

Recorded a video of myself preparing the traditional matcha and uploaded it on Instagram as my first IGTV post as the video was longer than 60 seconds thus I had the option to trim it and post it on my feed as an IG post or post as IGTV. One issue I faced was the layout ratio. I make the video into the square ratio of 1:1 but when it was uploaded as IGTV, everything including my subtitle was cut off! I have to re-edit my video to fit into the IGTV proportion of 9:16 ratio. The whole process including recording of the video took me hours.  Click on this link to view my IGTV.

After whisking the matcha in circular motion to the hot water, it should turned frothy. The matcha from this blend has a balanced, unami flavour which is not too bitter. Would consider making a cold version of matcha latte soon. You can get this from Shopee at this link too.

Tried out lots of different flavours of ice-cream from Happy Ice SG thanks to a collaboration arranged by Irene (@foodwanderers) and Jonathan (@happyicesg). They are most famous for bringing in the range of popular Xiao Mei Boba series ice cream from Taiwan on Shopee.

The most common one being the Xiao Mei Brown Sugar Boba Ice Cream that is made of caramelised brown sugar and milk filled with soft and chewy boba!

I'm loving the Xiao Mei Taro Chunk & Boba Ice Cream that comes with a smooth milky pudding on top and filled with QQ Boba and chunks of taro. So yummy!

The Xiao Mei Pudding and Boba Ice Cream taste like custard with ice cream and boba.

My girl is excited to try their cute Arty Cream Ice Cream which comes in 3 different flavours and in the shape of a panda paw, kitty head and shape of heart. Love that we don't have to step out of the house and can get these cool ice-cream delivered to our doorsteps just by ordering from shopee.

Kofuku Ramen & Don operates as a kiosk concept in Downtown East serving affordable and authentic Japanese Ramen, Donburi and some sides with no pork or lard! By affordable, it means that none of their items on the menu cost over $9!

I tried out the following items on the menu

TORI KATSU DON ~ S$6.80
KOFUKU RAMEN ~ S$5.80
TAKOYAKI ~ S$3.80
GOYOZA ~ S$3.80

My favourite is the Tori Katsu Don which is prepared in the style like an Oyako Don with seaweeds, onions, dashi-based sauce eggs and chicken katsu. There is a generous amount of chicken katsu in this bowl. It has a nice breaded crunch on the outside and tender meat inside.

The Kofuku Ramen is packed in a way that the broth and ramen is separated so that the noodles do not turned soggy or the broth getting dried up. It's basically chicken paitan ramen with bean sprout, seaweed and a ramen egg.

Takoyaki are soft with a well spread of Takoyaki and Mayonnaise sauce and the Goyoza is nicely fried and taste just the way I love my goyoza to be. Just missing the vinegar sauce to dip in. Thanks Kenny (@_boyz86) and Kofuku (@sgkofuku) for arranging and delivery these over!

Enjoying the current arrangement of alternating between going back to office and working from home which I guess won't last too long. Soon, it will be back to the usual daily grind.

XOXO
