[DBS] Beat the queues at Singapore’s eateries with DBS FasTrack

For those working at the CBD area, you would probably have heard or tried before the freshly brewed tea, coffee and other beverages from this very famous Old Tea Hut.

In fact, it's so popular that customers are willing to queue up to an estimate of 24 minutes for their drinks! So this is what happened during the 24 minutes. Customers arrive and join in the queue for about 12 minutes, takes about 2 minutes to place their orders when it's their turn, waits another 5 minutes for their orders to be prepared and finally takes about 5 minutes to complete the payment.

Understanding and personally experiencing this very real problem, a team at DBS has actually came out with a solution known as the DBS FasTrack, that powers several F&B mobile app.  With the mobile app, it allows customers to order and pay ahead therefore significantly reduce waiting time by 70%. Just think about all the things that can be done during this precious time.

Together with some of bloggers, we tried ordering our drinks with the Old Tea Hut App to experience how convenient it is if we ordered using the mobile app compared to the traditional way of ordering which is queuing up and I'm going to share here the whole process.

1. Search for DBS FasTrack in your Apple or Google app store

A list of restaurant apps will appear. Currently Old Tea Hut, Five Star Restaurant, Old Kim Guan (OKG Express) Koufu (Certain outlets, see notes below) and Boon Tong Kee are among the eateries who have this app, powered by DBS FasTrack that can be downloaded. Download and install the restaurant app that you wish to use, in this case, we are using Old Tea Hut as an example.

More restaurants such as Li Xin Teochew Fishball, Tiong Bahru Bakery, Wolf Burger, Miam Miam, Qi Ji, Aloha Poke, and Food City at Midpoint Orchard are in the pipeline to launch their apps

2. Launch the app and order

Select your order from the list of menu. The staff at DBS highly recommended Salted Lemon, something unique. I ordered a hot Horlicks instead.

3. Cashless Payment

Payment is a breeze and customers can choose to pay using DBS/POSB credit or debit card, or with DBS PayLah!. I paid mine using the DBS PayLah!. All these are done in the comfort of the meeting room at DBS office, MBFC.

4. Receive Notifications when order is ready

A push notification will be sent to you once your order is ready for collection. Only upon receiving this notification, do we leave the office and pop by the store to pick up our order. This is a cool way to beat the queue during rush hour!

5. Grab and Go

In less than 5 minutes time, I got my Hot Horlicks from the store after flashing the collection slip on my mobile phone. There's a priority collection counter for those who ordered through their mobile app too. We are totally getting the stares from those who are physically in the queue!

I'm a happy customer with my favourite drink in my hand. With DBS FasTrack, I can save the queuing and waiting time to relax and have a proper conversation with my friends. It also saves me the hassle to find small change when paying.

CURRENT PROMOTION

Koufu at 100 AM mall in Tanjong Pagar and Square 2 in Novena is the first food court in Singapore to use DBS FasTrack. Koufu has plans to expand usage across its outlets, starting with some 100 stalls islandwide. To celebrate DBS FasTrack's official launch, enjoy 10% off ala carte orders via the Koufu app.

[EVENT] Singtel Hallyu Night at Barber Shop Timbre

Chilling out with my friends at Singtel Hallyu Night event held at Barber Shop by Timbre at The Arts House on a Thursday night. The word 'Hallyu' refers to 'Korean Wave' and this refers to the growing popularity of South Korean entertainment and pop culture over the world.

During this event, we basically also soaked ourselves in the K-Wave as we had Korean food, listened to Korean songs, played some popular Korean games too.

The main purpose of this event is to introduce us to Cast, Singapore's first OTT video portal app launched by Singtel. With Cast, consumers get to enjoy their favourite entertainment on-the-go with  thousands of hours of exciting movies, dramas, variety shows and kids' entertainment, all these can be streamed using Singtel's extensive 4G network or WiFi connection. Those favourite programmes can also be downloaded for offline viewing at a later time.

We tried out the Cast app with the OPPO phones provided that night.

Singtel Mobile postpaid customers can choose from 3 different content packs - Kids, Asian Hits and Hallyu. Each pack cost S$4.90 per month for those with a 12-month Singtel contact, on top of that customers can opt for a special 1GB data add-on for just S$3 more per month per pack. For customers without a contract, it would cost S$6.90 per pack and per month.

Customers can also sign up for Viu's premium service at Cast to enjoy the latest Korean and Japanese entertainment at the same prices. Some of the latest and popular Korean dramas and variety shows available are Doctors, Lucky Romance, Running Man and Return of Superman, as well as the latest Japanese dramas such as A Girl & Three Sweethearts and Love Song. The good thing for Viu Premium subscribers is that they get to enjoy priority viewing with English and Chinese subtitles as fast as 8 hours after the original telecast.

I'm not exactly a Korean drama addict and I've not watched Doctors nor DOTS but I'm currently watching this Korean drama called 'W' now. Well, I guess the plot is somehow interesting enough to catch my attention, where there is another life existing in a webtoon. It's like parallel universe but in this case, the main characters in the webtoon have minds of their own and begin to create their own stories, changed their own ending. Too exciting and can't wait for the final episode. I hope it's not an unhappy ending though.

Kids Pack features the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels along with popular programmes such as Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Shimmer & Shine, and more.

Asian Hits Pack features up to 1,000 hours of popular hit movies, entertainment and drama series from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China in their original languages, including blockbusters Helios and Mr Unbelievable, variety shows Are You Hokkien?, The Voice of Taiwan, and more.

Hallyu Pack offers the best of Korean entertainment from top Korean broadcasters on popular channels ONE, Oh!K and KBS World such as Doctors, W and Uncontrollably Fond and all-time variety show favourites like Running Man, Infinite Challenge and Return of Superman.

Kelly Poon was the special guest for the night and she sang to us two songs. First song was 'Always' in Korean - Descendants of the Sun OST and another Chinese song called '爱无力'

A video of her live performance on Always.

Instant photo print our from Aww Snap! with the ladies. It was a gif image and we get to choose one we like to print out for keeping. Thank you Jessie for bringing me to this fun event.

Interested customers can subscribe to Cast via the My Singtel app and download Cast from the App store for Apple iOS devices and Google Play Store for Android devices.

We all know that sharing is caring and most people actually feels good and happy when it comes to sharing.

Sharing Economy enables effective shared access to goods, services, information and talent through the use of technology and community.

Many a times, we bought things that we only use for one time, after which they are kept in the stores for years. What if there is now a platform that you can join as member and share your items with other members who might just need it for that one time too and in return get some cash.

Sounds too good to be true?

Let me introduce to you ShareKool, Singapore's first mobile affiliate app that provides the platform (base on a Peer-to-peer model) to Share Economy.

Some of the advantages of ShareKool are as follows:

1) Promote the culture of sharing: this encourages us to combine our resources, provide access to a range of personal possessions and things we rarely thought of buying or services we hardly use.

2) Provide a marketing portal: It acts as an online market place for members, business partners and their clients.

3) Conserve physical & monetary resources: This helps to save the storage space at home for items we rarely use. Renting it at a cheaper cost is better than buying it.

4) Save Gaia: As we share, we reduce wastage and create less rubbish thus reducing the harm done to the Earth.

Six different features of ShareKool are as follows:

Sh@reAds

Read advertisements and promotional emails that are being sent to the inbox within the APP. This ensures that our personal email accounts will not be spammed with marketing mails. Good news is, after these mails are being read, points will be awarded. So it's a win-win situation to both Companies as well as consumers. With the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) that will soon be in placed, it will soon be harder to target the consumers. With this app, it can helps to reach out to them.

Sh@reVid

Watch advertising and promotional videos within the APP. All videos will only be sent from server and after again after watching, points will be awarded

Sh@reMe

Provide or take up any specialize skills, services, task or jobs. For example, you are good at repairing the sink, you can advertise your skills in the app and if somebody's sink needs to be repair, they may hire you.

 Sh@reUse

Rent out or co-share your free space or equipment. Make the most out of your money spent. For example that drill you've got, instead of storing it after using it for one time, why not list it out for a minimum fee to those who needs it.

Sh@reMart

Enjoy offers and discounts from 6 exciting categories (Fashion, Skin Care, Food & Beverage, Kids World, Gadgets, Travel) of unique products and services. (Not yet launched. 3rd phase)

The Mint Museum of Toys

The pre-launch of ShareKool was held at The Mint Museum of Toys and it's my first time there. A great place for toys collectors and lovers to visit. Above is a photo of me with the lift door and the wall of the lift. They have lots of toys on display in this 5 storey museum.

Me and Jessie. It's been quite some time since we last met.

Vintage toys!

O Darlie~ Why is your face so black and your teeth so white? Lolol~~

Old school lunch boxes.

Me and the bears! We only get to explore the third storey of this museum which showcase Childhood favorite's toys as the museum closed at 6.30pm daily. A suggestion to those who are planning to visit this museum is to take the lift to the highest level and take the stairs down because every level of the stairs, there's will be a giant glass cabinet full of toys on display too. Don't miss that.
