Yan's Tomato Hot Pot (小燕子番茄火锅) has been on my to-try list for quite some time! Having opened its outlet at 321 Clementi less than a year ago, my family and I finally made our way down to give it a try!
As the name suggests, one of their highlights is the Signature Fresh Brewed Tomato Broth, which is freshly simmered daily using premium Dutch tomato varieties and fresh tomatoes sourced from Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.
We tried their two signature soup bases, the Signature Fresh Brewed Tomato Broth ($6.90) and Chicken Collagen Soup ($7.90). Our family loves tomato soup for hotpot, and this has definitely become one of our favourites! The broth is rich and flavourful. The Chicken Collagen Soup was a nice contrast and both soup bases complemented our hotpot ingredients really well.
Signature Handmade Shrimp Balls ($11.90)
The most premium item we ordered was the Australian Marbled Beef Short Rib ($15.90), while the rest of the dishes were reasonably priced, ranging from $3.90 to slightly over $10. Our spread included the Spanish Chestnut-Fed Pork Belly, Chicken Slice, Crab Stick, Pork and Chives Dumpling, Dory Fillet, Crystal Scallops, Mushroom Platter and Mixed Vegetable Platter. Overall, we had a good variety of ingredients for our hotpot dinner.
Along with the hotpot comes the free-flow condiments, with a guide on the wall showing you how to mix your own sauces, as well as free-flow drinks, fruits and a selection of four desserts - Ice Jelly, Red Bean with Sago, Beancurd and Grass Jelly. To top it off, there's also soft-serve ice cream available in Original, Mango or Mixed flavours! You can even get creative and mix and match the desserts to your liking! I decided to combine the Beancurd with Grass Jelly.
Overall, the whole eating experience here is enjoyable. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout the meal. Definitely will be back again.
