[FOOD REVIEW] New Teck Kee Chicken Rice Serves GIANT Truffle Chicken Rice Platter

 Happy 55th Birthday to Singapore! Glad to be meeting up with my blogger friends to do what most Singaporeans love to do, eating! We met up at The Rail Mall located along Upper Bukit Timah Road to try out a very unique dish - Giant Truffle Chicken Rice Platter from New Teck Kee Chicken Rice. This was my first time visiting The Rail Mall which is just a single storey stripe of mostly eateries and a Cold Storage.

As the Giant Truffle Chicken Rice platter is a new dish recently introduced in by the 2nd-gen owner, one would not be able to find this dish on their physical menu yet. However, this Giant Truffle Chicken Rice Platter is already available for ordering and is good enough to be shared among a group of 4 - 5 people. Another plus point is that beside selling just chicken rice, they also sells some Zi Char dishes and even laksa and porridge. This range of dishes available is good enough to bring the whole family there for a good meal.

We ordered the Shrimp Omelette, Deep Fry Tofu and a Chinese Spinach Vermicelli Soup to go along with our Giant Truffle Chicken Rice Platter. When our Giant Truffle Chicken Rice Platter was served, we could all smell the fragrance of the truffle oil that was infused with the rice and meat even though it just looks like an ordinary big plate of chicken rice.

Simple Chinese Spinach Vermicelli Soup that taste so good

It has both the roasted and white chicken served with slices of tomatoes, cucumbers and parsley. The chili sauce goes well with the chicken rice too. Oh, and check out the creative presentation which simply looks like a rooster with the tomatoes as the red rooster comb and cucumbers as the feathers. I also love the side dishes especially the Chinese Spinach Vermicelli Soup which is super tasty yet not too salty.

This eatery is fully air-conditioned and I can tell how passionate the owner is to preserve this chicken rice business. So much so that all the Chinese paintings on the wall are related to chickens except for one large scale vintage wall-photo of the Teck Kee Chicken rice stall in the olden days right at the back of the shop.

I'm so happy to be eating the National dish on National Day itself and I am sure I will be back again with my family to try out the rest of their dishes and to introduce this place to more people!
