[RECORD BREAKER] Singapore's Longest Fruit Mosaic at Downtown Gallery

A new record was being set in the Singapore Book of Records as Downtown Gallery created a 200-metres-long fruit mosaic stretching along Shenton Way which is the entire length of Downtown Gallery.

This local attempt to create the Singapore's Longest Fruit Mosaic is the first of a series of events and experiences designed to inject vibrancy into the urban community in the Downtown Core area.

A live video taken to show the whole stretch of the fruit mosaic.

About 80 recent graduates from Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic started creating this massive mosaic since 10.00 am using a mix of red and green apples, lemons and oranges. This also comes in celebration of International Fruits Festival. Beside watching the youths working on the mosaic, there is also a section designated just for the public to contribute in this record attempt. I was there to witness this with my family and friends and it was the first event that my baby tagged along.

Needless to say, Baby Rena became the star of the day as my friends all wanted to get an individual closed-up shot with her. Well, she also screamed her lungs out 4 times in the mall and it was so hard to calm her down. I will always remember today at OUE Downtown Gallery as it's also my first time nursing her in public space with just a nursing cover.

A few fruit-themed pop-ups by juice bar FRESHE, lifestyle and fitness app GuavaLabs, frozen natural yoghurt store smöoy and gourmet grocer and cafe THE PROVIDORE were set up to give away complimentary juices, guavas, toppings and ice-cream sandwiches to the first 100 consumers who quote "Singapore's Longest Fruit Mosaic" to them.

The representative from the Singapore Book of Records announced this official record and giving out the certificate. Following this, the fruits were cleaned, repackaged and distributed to the members of public as well as donated to the designated charities - Kampong Chai Chee Community Club, Bishan Community Club and Hougang Sheng Hong Family Service Centre.

In line with the URA's long-term plans of transforming the Downtown Core area into a work-live-play environment, OUE Downtown has undergone major transformation to bring to life the three pillars of 'Look Well', 'Keep Well' and 'Eat Well' within the development.
