Went for a short 2 days 1 night trip to Johor Bahru with my friends over the weekend. I'm really glad this trip was made possible and this is the first time the 5 of us travel together. Thank you Kelvin, Jessie, Meryl and Shu Qing. Kelvin, the only guy in this trip took great care of us, driving us in comfortably saving us the hassle of having to get down and queue at the crowded custom. He also planned the itinerary and brought us to explore places for fun, food and shopping.
Instead of going to the more popular malls like City Square and KSL City Mall, Kelvin brought us to the outskirt of JB called Taman Mount Austin. We went in via the Woodland custom.
WHERE WE STAY
Hotel Austin Paradise
85 & 87, Jalan Mutiara Emas
10/19, Taman Mount Austin,
81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Cost per room: RM 180 (shared between Shu Qing, Mery and I)
This is the hotel that we stayed for the night. Pretty clean and decent. Has got everything we need for a night stay and I slept very well.
WHERE WE EAT
Our lunch at Auntie Lim was treated by Kelvin followed by dessert at Blackball.
First day Supper. Roti Prata at the coffee shop near our hotel after our KTV.
Second day breakfast at Big Bowl.
My Mee Siam only cost RM $7.00
Second day lunch at Ichiban Ramen (Aeon Tebrau City Shopping Centre).
My full Japanese lunch set cost RM 29.00
WHERE WE SHOP
1. 100 Yen Shop
I love this shop even though the price for the items inside is not fixed at 100 yen as per the shop name. This shop sells a lot of cool stuff from marvel lego toys, to animal masks, etc. Best of all my friends spotted the Brown and Cony hairband. I just have to buy it.
Spent RM 33.00
2. Kio Da
Kio Da is like the Miniso store at Singapore. Bought some classy hair accessories plus earrings here.
Spent RM 36.00
3. Padini Concept Store
Bought a top and a little black dress here
Spent RM 63.00
4. Sports Direct
Cheap sports wears can be found here. Bought for my mum, bro and myself some new sports wear. Was given a further discount on top of the discounted price. Super happy!
Spent RM 80.50
5. Tesco Super Mart
Bought lots of tidbits here to bring back to Singapore. Next time, gotta ask my mum to give me a shopping list to buy groceries back too.
Spent RM 47.00
The two major shopping malls we went to which are just located across the street.
Tesco Extra Tebrau City
Taman Desa Tebrau, Johor,
81100 Johor Bahru,
Malaysia
Aeon Tebrau City Shopping Centre
1, Jalan Desa Tebrau,
81100 Johor Bahru,
Malaysia
WHERE WE SING
De CAST Karaoke
1 Jalan Austin Height
8/5 Austin Height
Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Cost Per Pax RM 21 with free flow drinks
The main objective of this trip is to go sing KTV. There were a few big places for singing K but we were attracted to this one for its New York theater concept feel so we went to ask for the pricing which we find reasonable and immediately booked a slot at 10pm. The 5 of us really can sing and love to sing. Hahaha.
THINGS TO DO AT THE HOTEL
Whenever I go overseas, I would make sure that I pamper myself to the fullest. Thus, I usually will bring along some facial masks to do at the hotel. Just nice, I found three animal masks at home given to me by Jessie and Jia Hui thus I brought them along to share with my room-mates. It was already like 3.30am when we put on the masks and laughed ourselves silly with the photos and videos. Cat masks really suits Meryl and made her look like a cat-woman that night since she's wearing all black.
SELFIE / WEFIE / GROUP PHOTOS
During the trip, while we were on our car tour, we found more places for food that we can go to the next time and also they are building a water theme park there.
This trip also makes me appreciate the stability and currency of Singapore even more. Over there, we have to be extra vigilant especially when we are walking on the road or if we are the last to get into the car. Heard too much scary stories of how dangerous it is. Even in the hotel lift, Kelvin is still keeping a look out while we ladies are busy taking wefies. Haha.
Also, we mustn't forget that it's not because the things were cheap there but we keep saying it's so cheap thanks to the exchange rate we enjoyed. Thankful.
Changed S$ 150 and left with RM 72
** Based on exchange rate S$1 : RM 2.99 **

Here the lighting is a little brighter than lounge setting, and you can sit at one of their many tables, or grab a seat by the bar. With a large menu of beers, you might have trouble picking just one. The music at this party venue is always upbeat with a mixture of rock and pop, and the food menu is large as well as their seating.
