[Event] Embrace Green Living - The Eco Lifestyle Event

I was invited to the inaugural Green Living 2015 - the eco lifestyle event which is open to the public as well at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre over the weekends. This event is positioned as Singapore's first sustainability and design show that focuses on meeting the needs of eco-conscious consumers and businesses as well as raising the awareness to the public on how to adopt an 'eco-lifestyle'.

Green Living 2015 is held in conjunction with The International Green Building Conference (IGBC) 2015, Build Eco Xpo (BEX) Asia and Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) Asia. The series of events are all part of the Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) that happens from 31 August to 6 September 2015.

SPECIAL FEATURES

BCA Green Office Pop-Up Booth

During my first stop, I visited the BCA Green Office Pop-Up booth. It is an interactive 'green office' that offers green tips and benefits for office users, building owners and landlords. They actually put up a music performance by using things we can find in the office but I didn't stay on to watch it.

One of the interesting fact. I agree with the top statement which mentioned that optimise daylight will have a direct effect on productivity, concentration, mood and creativity.

I answered a simple question and got myself a free cup of yogurt, here I vote for what I can do to keep my office green. Having a green office can promote a more efficient workforce and healthier employees so why not?

Eco-Love Machine (ELM)

Recycle a plastic bottle at the Eco-Love Machine and receive a surprise gift out from the machine. It was a packet of fertilizer. This is a good idea of getting rewarded for every little gesture to live green. I think if we have this kind of machine that exchange something useful in return of our empty bottles or cans, people would really use it rather than throwing them in the bins.

OTHER EXHIBITS

I personally favours this intelligent lighting control concept a lot. Wireless switches that you can remove the switch and paste them anyway in your room. The wireless switches is not only able to adjust the blinder but also the brightness of the light as well as to switch on or off the lights.

Mountain Teak

Teak furniture are usually quite lasting.

LINS Smoodees

Enjoying a cup of healthy juice. It's a mixture of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables.

Hands-on workshops by Homefix-XPC.

Ask Tony

Part of the Homefix-XPC workshop is to upcycle old glassware into decorative goblets and terrariums. Some of these bottles does have very unique designs that should be fully utilize.

Re Arcade - Reliving the Fun

Bf was kept occupied playing games at this corner. In the past, having an arcade at home seems impossible because it's so bulky and took up so much space. Now, Re Arcade address this issue and manage to upcycle old PCs, laptops & gaming consoles into a functional arcade machine which is smaller and cooler to keep at home! Managed to take a photo with Jimmy who is the brainchild of this project.

I had a fun time going round the different exhibits and learning how to be more eco-friendly. Climate change is a very big problem worldwide and affects everyone. If everybody just put in some additional efforts, there's actually a lot we can do for a better environment. Looking forward to their next exhibits which will be bigger and better.
