Located along Changi Road, Cafe Borsa is a small yet cozy eatery cafe which was opened recently in April this year. This family-run cafe serves Western Cuisine and is Halal certified. Muslim friends around the area can now enjoy delicious Western cuisine at an affordable price.
Here's a photo of their menu which have everything at a glance. Sandwiches for breakfast, Pasta/Mains for lunch/dinner, sides for afternoon tea break and drinks to go along with.
We were served with one of the sides, mid-wings with wedges. The mix of sour cream and chilli sauce fits perfectly with the wings and wedges that they serve. The real surprise is that the sour cream as made by the chef himself! The taste is comparable to any off-the-shelf products in the market. This wings are seasoned with just garlic, salt and pepper and yet taste so good.
One of their signature main dish, and in my opinion a must-try dish is the Borsa Duck Confit. The duck is marinated with the seasoning for 24 hours and oven-baked for about another 2 hours to get that crispy on the outside, tender on the inside effect. The usual way to prepare a Confit will require the food to be cooked in grease or oil at a low temperature and later deep frying. Here at Cafe Borsa, they do it in a healthier method by baking it in the oven! I don't know how they do it but they even confit the duck with chicken stock which turns out to be just as flavourful. Not forgetting how the cranberry sauce enhances the flavour. The dish also comes with homemade mashed potatoes and salad topped with vinaigrette and lemon juice.
The next signature dish we tried is their Baked Salmon. This is a great choice for those who wish to have seafood instead of meat. The salmon is served with Lemon Butter Sauce that is not too overpowering and complements the salmon well.
I also love their All-Day Brunch. I'm a very brunch person who likes a little bit of everything and brunch set has a little bit of everything that I like. Oh, that egg is so perfect.
Yay. Me with the brunch set. Yummy.
For the drinks, I highly recommend their homemade Honey Citron. You can choose either the hot one or cold one but I prefer the cold one. Refreshing. Inside the drinks are the citrus fruit which can be consumed.
Chef Mr Chua is a very passionate cook and often comes up with new dishes by mixing and matching. This drink is one of his unique invention which is not up on the menu yet. It's cendol combine with red beans. I find the after taste of the cendol too strong and have a slight bitter taste. He's also thinking of coming up with a sweet potato drink.
Thank you Wei Wei for the invitation as well as the hospitality. A photo with the young and inspiring chef. It's a wonderful dinner which makes me feel the warmth of eating at home. So if you happens to be around that area, do pop by and gives this cafe a try!
