o_O HAPPY HALLOWEEN O_o

Started developing some interest in Halloween and so I browsed around for Halloween make-up tutorials on YouTube. It seems to be a trend every year to come up with the newest and coolest costume. So I've short-listed a few which I felt deserves the Creepiest Halloween Make-up award in 2013.

1. The Zipper Face. OMG, yes, I know this is all make-up but look at that face beneath the zip. So bloody disgusting!

2. The face in face. My friend asked me to watch this video. It's not so scary until the person starts to talk. Makes my hairs stand.

 3. The Pregnant Zombie. Oh crap, this totally freaks me out. Babies are supposed to be cute and huggable but when they turned them into zombie or make them look evil, they just remind me of Chucky, Ju on, etc. So eerie.

...................................................................

Ok, the following photos are not as scary, these are just some cute (in my opinion) Halloween decorations spotted along the stretch of Clark Quay.

The Chinese have the 7th month Hungry Ghost Festival which lasted a month but it was different from Halloween. During the 7th month hungry ghost festival, we don't dress up as ghost and we don't stay out too late at night and there's definitely no such decorations around. Instead, you can find a lot of burning of paper offerings, joss sticks and not forgetting the 7th month Getai (Song stage).

...................................................................

How I pretend to be a ghost with the least effort. Just cover my face with my long hair. Oh, I should remember to wear white next time too.

How bf pretend to be a headless ghost today when he came over. The effect is only successful after the 4th attempt. See below for the other three NG shots. Amusing that he suddenly came up with this idea.

NG Shot #1 - Blurry

NG Shot #2 - Still can see the hair

NG Shot #3 - Where's the hands?

With Halloween over, the next festival would be Deepavali followed by Christmas! Looking forward~ Cheers, thanks for reading!

"Re"Connect with LINKSYS over brunch at Cups N Canvas

I won't call myself an IT geek but at least I'm not an IT idiot. I know some basic HTML for my blog, I know some basic computer troubleshooting that proves to be useful at work sometimes, I know when it's time to upgrade my bandwidth and I've got friends who are from the IT industry.

The younger generations might not understand the frustration we get when we were using dial-up connections in the past. The waiting, the disconnection and that dialing tone to get to the internet is now history. When the government introduced OpenNet, I upgraded my connection to Fibre broadband in order to have uninterrupted and faster connection speed.

After sharing so much, I came to a conclusion that the computer is the main tools I used whether I'm at work or at home and having a good wireless network plays a very important role with the things I need to do with my computer or even my iPhone for that matter. Wireless network is like the 3rd important things beside electricity and water at home.

We should really count ourselves lucky that in Singapore Fibre connection is still affordable. If you go to Philippines, Fibre connection can cost as much as $600 per month! I'm going to continue to share about some of the products that can optimized coverage and performance when it comes to home network.

LINKSYS SMART WI-FI ROUTERS AND USB ADAPTER

I'm glad to be invited to attend a 3 hours sharing session with the guys from Linksys over brunch at Cups N Canvas. Linksys should not be an unfamiliar brand though of course there are many other brands out there in the market. In case you are wondering how long Linksys has been in the market, this year Linksys celebrates 25 years of wireless innovation.

The range of products that were showcased includes:

1. Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA6200 Dual-Band AC900 Wireless AC
2. Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA6300 Dual Band N300 + AC867 Advanced Multimedia
3. Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA6700 Dual Band N450 + AC1300 HD Video Pro
4. RE2000 Wireless Range Extender N300 Dual Band
5. AE6000 Wireless Mini USB Adapter AC580 Dual Band
6. WUSB6300 Dual-Band AC1200 Wireless USB Adapter

Many people are confused between a modem and a router. Like me, I used to think that they are the same thing, but actually they are not. Modems and routers are two different devices. Most providers combine the two devices into one and call it a gateway. A router is necessary to connect more than one device to the modem. It acts like a traffic police to control the network traffic to direct to the correct route and with one connection, many people can use. It's not a difficult thing to set up a router so what kind of wireless capabilities is the factor that will influence the choice of routers you are getting.

"Since joining the Belkin family in March 2013, Linksys is now more committed than ever to equipping every home with a premier ecosysterm of wireless connectivity, given the increasing number of mobile devices used and the demand for a reliable and consistently strong wireless network throughout the home," said Tang Boon Ping, Director, Asia, Linksys and Belkin. "Our products sport the latest technologies that allow devices to communicate with one another so that users can stay instantaneously updated with the content they care about."

This new portfolio of products includes Linksys' EA series of home routers that are super easy to install (CD-less) and control as they runs on the innovative Linksys Smart Wi-Fi platform. Users can conveniently manage the router settings with this platform. The routers also features the latest 802.11ac wireless standard, which supports faster and more stable connections - up to three times the speed of Wireless-N.

LINKSYS SMART WI-FI ECOSYSTEM

More than just providing the hardware for a home network, the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi ecosystem gives users the ability to do more with the home networks as seen in the video above. The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi platform offers consumers a comprehensive range of tools and mobile applications that to make control and greater connectivity over home networks effortlessly anytime and anywhere.

With the simple to use interface, users get to stay connected with their home network anywhere, with the ability to turn on/off Wi-Fi access to devices, monitor network activity in the home and set prioritisation for device or website. Parents can control the contents if they are concerned about what the kids is surfing online and users also have the option to create a separate password for the guest network if you have guest coming over.

PREVIEW OF THE LINKSYS EA6900 WIRELESS AC ROUTER

We got a sneak peek into Linksys upcoming product, the EA6900 Wireless AC router. They run a network performance check using JPerf and the results shows the router ability to meet over 400 bandwidth. The faster, the better.

Thanks Jessie for the photo. Think we are the only few ladies present for the sharing session.

Thanks Luana for sharing the photo on Facebook.

The Linksys event was held at Cups N Canvas. I really love this little cafe-studio setting. Like its name suggested, it's a combination between coffee and art. Art classes are held here too.

These are some of the artwork that catches my eyes.

Even the signboards of the washroom are artworks.

Not only do they serve just coffee and tea, they also have mains and desserts. For my main, I choose Pasta with Vermillion Prawns in Tomato sauce and my cold drinks is Cloudy Apple. Prawns are fresh but the cloudy apple drinks are a bit too sour for my liking. Very comfortable place for brunch or just sit around with a cup of coffee and admiring the artwork.

Chriz Tong's Unfinished Concert at Esplanade Recital Studio

Chriz Tong's Unfinished concert was awesome! Glad that I spent this rainy Sunday evening immersing myself in her beautiful voice. Didn't miss the opportunity to get her to sign on my newly purchased album and at the same time, a photo with her and my bro! Fan-girl mode~ Heehee.

Chriz Tong's Unfinished concert is actually her first ever concert held at the Esplanade Recital Studio which is an ideal venue cause I felt it brings her closer to the audience. The sound system and all is superb too!

The "Unfinished Concert" theme was inspired by her latest TV drama series, Love at Risk's sub-theme song that was titled "An unfinished love song". "Unfinished" in this case also refers to Chriz's constant dedication and passion in her singing career to sing more songs for her fans and audiences.

Chriz Tong serenade us with the song 橄榄树 (Olive Tree/Gan Lan Shu) as her first opening song. This is not an easy song, Sun Yan Zi sang it and was recorded in her 4th album and also recorded in Chriz Tong's latest album. At the beginning part, Chriz sang it without any music in the background. Just acoustic and it really blows my mind away.

After that, she sang 味道 (smell) which was her first tailored song, did a cover of 找自己
by David Tao and an English song "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys. Watch my 15 seconds instagram video of her singing Girl on Fire here

A short interval whereby videos of famous people in the music industry sent their encouragements and wishes to Chriz. Many of them congratulate her and also hope that she will move on to perform for a bigger audience next time at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Taiwan Arena, etc.

Chriz Tong is out again with a change of outfit and she sang us three songs, mostly her own creations. Dan Shu Lu Cheng, Wan Mei (完美) and Wo Hui.  Wan Mei (完美) is a song that she wrote when she was very young so in the music one can feel the youthfulness and energy. The screen behind shows many many photos of her during her younger days with her friends and even photos of her with short hair. It makes me feels like going through her life journey with her.

The humble Chriz with the "P plate" decal pasted on her guitar as she told us how she just started learning guitar 3 weeks ago. She sang a song called Kao Yan (考验). Well done!

In the next interval, Chriz came back to the stage, dressed in a pretty pink dress. She sang the following drama theme songs.

Like every other concerts, there bound to be a special guest in between. For her, she had invited Peter Tan 陈彼得老师 to be her special guest. They sang a duet song called 《愛你》which is the ending song for TV Drama 砂锅肉骨茶

After the duet, Chriz sang 《一首没唱完的情歌》, ending song for 爱情风险。She went to the backstage after this song and we shouted for encore!

So she's back again with the last song, "Part of Your World" from Disney's Little Mermaid. She sang this song with a lot of emotions. Below is a video I "secretly" took. Hehe.

Nice song, nice voice.

A group photo of her with the band. This time it's really the end. Congrats to Chriz Tong for putting up a really great concert. Hope to see her grow and be successful in her music journey. Thanks Terence for the invitation.

Ending my post with lots of photos of me. My hair is really dry and frizzy. Thinking of snapping them away soon but I have other reasons to keep them long. Haha. Ok, we'll see how. Till my next post! Thanks for reading! Cheers ^^

SENTOSA SPOOKTACULAR 2013 : Jointly produced with GTH - Media Preview Night [2/2]

Like I've mentioned in my earlier post (Sentosa Spooktacular 2013: Jointly produced with GTH - Fun Facts [1/2]), though this is the fifth year Sentosa Spooktacular was being organised, 2013 marks the first year I am attending it and also the first year Sentosa collaborated with GTH. Thanks a lot for the invitation!!!

Yes, I'm proud to say that I went through and survived the five horror trail of Sentosa Spooktacular 2013!!! So, here I am still alive and sharing my first-hand personal experience with this blog post.

Our horror journey started from Beach Station whereby I did my registration and boarded the Ghost Rider tram that took us to Fort Siloso. Hehe, glad that we missed the first two bus that looks too normal. Brought Missy Tini along with me for this event. After this event, I found out that she is so much braver than I thought, she never screamed at all throughout the trails.

Arrived at Fort Siloso. Just happened that they've got this black platform for us to stand on. Shu Qing and I looked so small. Lolol~

While waiting for the arrival of the guest-of-honour, Tini spotted something hanging among the trees.

After zooming in. Remember this "ghost" photo ya, later part of the post will have a photo of how it looks like in the dark.

Star Struck moment! Yay! Affectionately known as Ter for his lead role in Hello Stranger and ATM, both movies I've watched and I've blogged about the movies too, somewhere in my blog.

Mr David Goh, Senior Divisional Director of Sentosa Leisure Management and Mr Yongyoot Thongkongtoon, Senior Director of International Business for GTH giving the opening speech. Their opening speech is more like a fun and casual chat.

Mr David Goh talks about how he have to raise the standard each year for fans who are constantly seeking a more immersive experience in Sentosa Spooktacular. So in January, he sent an email to the GTH director. Mr Yongyoot Thongkongtoon replied that he actually got the mail in the junk mail. Luckily they've checked and it proves that Sentosa Spooktacular is really a good platform for them to work with.

Cute Pee Mak hairstyle spotted!

Address by Guest-of-Honour.

The spokespeople and the artistes declaring Sentosa Spooktacular 2013 officially opened!!! Let the horror trail begins!

A few steps into the main entrance and we were greeted by this video montage of the horror films and countdown.

This is the "ghost" spotted among the trees when it was still not that dark. It sure looks 10 times scarier when you look at it at night. Makes great profile pic though. I've changed my Whatsapp profile pic to this immediately at the end of the day. Hahaha. Chat with me, if you dare!

Wondering ghosts! Haha, more for people to take photos with. They don't really go around scaring people too but they are among us.

Shu Qing and I.

Star struck moment for Tini. Her favourite actor is just next to her!!! Hahaha.

DORM

Finally, we've reached the first trail - DORM. The best part about Sentosa Spooktacular is that behind every trail, there's a background story of that trail (based on the horror movie) and we are given a so called mission to complete in the trail.

Haha, while waiting to enter, Missy Tini did this. Supposed to make her look like a ghost or something but, major fail. Oops!

The Dorm trail is set at Saichon Witthaya School whereby Wichien fell and drown in a well.

We get pass the classroom full of ghosts and our mission is to navigate in the dark maze with only a torchlight, at the end of the trail, we have to recite a chant, "Wichien Rest in Peace!" three times to help the spirit of Wichien to reincarnate. It was really scary walking in the dark maze! We went in a group of 8 and only the first person leading has the torchlight. So we have to hold one another's hand tightly in order not to lose anyone in the maze!

 BODY

Despite the long queue outside each trail, there would be a big screen TV outside showing the story and part of the movie. While waiting to enter this second trails, there's people dressed up covering their faces roaming around. Good photo opportunity again. So it's not that bored.

Body is what I felt the longest trail. It's not that much of a scary factor but more that of gruesome and disturbing scenes. I took quite a lot of photos here but most of them are just too disturbing to post up. I'm even contemplating deleting them. This part is when we were walking outdoor around the giant cylinder. I seriously don't dare to look around too much, for fear that I will spot something else. And that cold wind (before that rained) just make us all hastened our pace.

We even have to go through this narrow passageway with body parts hanging on top of us. Oh gosh!!!

Scary!!! I wish I could turn back but there's no turning back! :(

Many of us stopped to take photos of this. That baby in jar looks so real can. Omg!!

The way he screams frighten me.

Our mission here is to lift the curse of Dararai by assembling Dararai's grisly body parts. (gloves not provided)

Haha, the artists seems like having fun while we were like, "Yucks, I don't want to touch that. Must we really assemble the body parts before we can move on?"

SHUTTER

Shutter trail is quite disturbing too. There's lots of very scary photos and there is one stop whereby the clever use of the shutter light was used to create a sort of 3D image. That image will just stay in your brain one ok. This is really mind-blowing. I can't remember what's the mission here as the 3D image keeps flashing in my mind.

After that, we crossed over this bridge to the next trail.

PEE MAK

The Pee Mak trail is basically the shortest and least frightening one.

However, love how they decorated the surrounding to look like the Pee Mak village. Our mission here is to get into the unholy Temple of Dawn and perform a dance ritual (Pee Mak dance) to lay Nak's soul to rest.

COMING SOON

We all agreed that this is the scariest trail out of the five trails. These one part whereby it was so dark we couldn't even see a thing and we don't even have any torchlight with us. Scary factor 5/5. No joke.

Lastly, presenting the 6 brave ladies! The 6 of us were in the same group and we went through the trails together. Surprised that we can still smile so nicely but actually we were all very shagged. From left to right, Jessie, Shu Qing, Me, Missy Tini, Peishi, Rachell~~ Both Peishi and Rachell look so pretty!! Thanks to the photographer for taking this official photo for us! ^^

Map of Fort Siloso. It's best to follow the sequence of the trail in the manner of how we went. I even have the urge to watch all these five Thai horror movies after the trails. So far, I've only watched Shutter before.

If you think that watching the movies in the cinema is not scary at all, try to survive in the scenes at Sentosa Spooktacular. Best event I've attended for Halloween ever. Good luck if you are going!!!
