[Event] True Italian Taste Project : Italian Food Tasting Night at Alba 1836

As part of the True Italian Taste Project, a Food Tasting Night event was held at Alba 1836, an Italian restaurant located at Duxton Hill. I was invited to this event by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (ICCS) and I took this chance to bring along my bff of 25 years since her workplace is just a walking distance away. A toast to our friendship! Coincidentally, Meryl and her bf were there as well! Happy to see them too.

The True Italian Taste project is a large-scale educational initiative that is promoted and funded by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and implemented by Assocamerestero.  This project aims to bring makers of certified, traditional and niche Italian products to the forefront. By raising awareness and educating consumers on how to differentiate authentic Italian ingredients, the campaign is able to create new business opportunities for these producers, benefitting both Italian food producers and food lovers in the process.

Assocamerestero estimated that in 2018, the sale of Italian Sounding products is worth a global turnover of 90 billion euros - three times higher than Italian exports in the food sector in the previous year. It is only due to the education of the consumers and to the alliances of the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad with the local business communities, that it will be possible to reduce the phenomenon of Italian Sounding.

Upon entering the restaurant, we soon realised that this food tasting session was more of a networking session for the members of ICCS and business partners. While we were free to sample the Italian specialities, the place started to get really crowded in the later part of the night. We tried the Grana Padano Cheese, Parma Ham that was sliced on the spot by Huber's Butchery, Burrata cheese with toast, olive oil with toast and not forgetting lots of Italian wine which is their way of life.

Outside, the finger food was constantly replenished for us to help ourselves with while we admire the night view of this place.

While we were leaving the place, we came across this interesting graffiti wall so we decided to take a group photo together before heading home. Thanks bff for the nice photo!
