Gala Premiere : JUDGMENT DAY 《世界末日》

BIG THANKS
to
JESS
for bringing me to the Gala Premiere of Judgment Day.  The movie opens in cinema on the 18th April 2013 and I'm glad I'm one of the first few to watch it before the official opening date.

There was a meet the cast session too. Here's a photo of first-time film director Ong Kuo Sin and Singapore actor-producer Mark Lee. Mark Lee revealed that finding sponsors for this film is not easy because of its storyline and large cast.

Cast (from left to right) : Sebestian Tan aka Broadway Beng, Richard Low, Wang Yuqing, Lawrence Wong, Director Ong Kuo Sin, Producer Mark Lee, Tender Huang, Alice Ko, Julie Tan, Rebecca Lim and Guo Liang.

JUDGMENT DAY 《世界末日》 TRAILER

Rating : 4/5

Judgment Day, the day of Last Judgment; doomsday.

If you know that the World is ending in 72 hours time, what would you do? Remember the big hoo-ha on how the World is going to end on 21st Dec 2012? There's so much predictions and theories basing on that but on that actual day, everything still went on as per normal.

However, if the World is really going to end, I do wish that there will be an announcement like in the movie so that we can be mentally prepared. For me, the first thing I would do is to stop going to work, call up every single contacts on my phone and tell them exactly what I think of them, withdraw all my money and bring my whole family to a beautiful place (most probably a place overlooking some nice scenery instead of HDB flats), eat a lot as I do not want to die a hungry ghost. During the final moment, we will all be hugging tightly and praying together and hope that in the next life we will meet again.

In the opening scene, the characters are made known by an announcement on TV from the Prime Minister (acted by Adrian Pang) that they only have 72 hours, equivalent to 3 days to live before a meteor will collide with Planet Earth and destroy all mankind. The movie later centers around four different stories of how the characters try to live the last few days of their life without any regrets.

Henry Thia is Liu Fu An, a married man with a happy family of two kids. He has a deep secret and that is he has always dream of becoming a woman. So he choose to go for a sex change operation to live the last few hours as a woman.

Wang Yuqing as Wang Jia Kang. He is a police who decided to confess to his buddy, Du Jin De, acted by Mark Lee of the bribe he took many years ago.

Rebecca as Rebecca. Before the World is going to end, she just want to leave Singapore and head for the simple life in Cambodia. As such, she breaks up with her bf, Richard acted by Chua En Lai over their ideological differences.

Alice Ko as Li Shuzhen, a news broadcaster. She has a confession to make to her husband too. That is for the past two years, she is not happy and she has actually fallen for her boss, Fu An acted by Guo Liang.

One person's action will usually implicated the rest. This is why you have to watch this movie!

Edwin Goh as Liu Mingkai, how is he going to handle his father's sex change operation?

Mark Lee as Du Jin De, is he going to keep his police friend's confession a secret or will he betray him?

Chua En Lai as Richard, will he just accept the fact that the woman he wished to marry is leaving him and heading to Cambodia? Will they patch up in the end?

Tender Huang as Lin Jian Guo, how is he going to get back to his wife's confession that she don't love him anymore?

Watch the movie to find out the answers!!! I'm not going to be a spoiler here!!!

Special Mention

This is the last movie for the late John Cheng, commonly known as Ah Nam. He passed away from a heart attack after filming for the movie wrapped. His role in the movie is a medium called Jiu Shu and this is considered his breakthrough role. It's a pity he didn't get to see this movie aired.

So remember to support local production, book your tickets to Judgment Day.
