LollyTalk - Handmade Rock Candies with a Fantasy Story

"Once upon a time, there was a faraway land that floated in the sky known as Candy Island. Rocky and Candy stayed on this island where no boats were ever seen entering or leaving.

Rocky and Candy spent their days and nights playing, living on a magical food they called Rock Candy. On this island, everything was magical and could be built with sugar with a swing of a magical lollipop! The only t
hing that the inhabitants on Candy Island could not create with the magical lollipop was Rock Candy, which was handmade by Rocky and Candy for everyone. Everybody loved the rock candies, which never failed to make them happy. However the candies also attracted nasty monsters, who lurked around waiting to attack the candies when Rocky and Candy were not around.

One day, a magical boat that had ‘LollyTalk’ emblazoned on its sail came floating to the shores of Candy Island. With years of Rock Candy making experience under his belt, Rocky decided to follow the boat back to a city called Singapore. Rocky brought with him a lot of magical rock candies which he wanted to share with the people of Singapore. Rocky planned to set sail with the LollyTalk boat to the other parts of the world to bring the rock candies to even more people.

As Rocky missed Candy when he was away, he would follow the magical boat back to Candy Island to visit Candy, while bringing more rock candies back to Singapore on his return trip. Although alone, Candy was always busy keeping the island clean and taking care of their pets when Rocky was away. Candy also had to be constantly on guard against the monsters, who would take every opportunity to steal and destroy the rock candies."

The above fantasy story is linked to a brand new homegrown candy maker from Singapore that makes their own rock candies fresh from scratch. They are called LollyTalk and when I first heard about it, I was like, what's the big deal? It's just another candy shop opening.

But, unknown to me, and perhaps unknown to many out there, handmade rock candies originated from Australia and the birth of LollyTalk pays tribute to that. In 2010, the candy maker of LollyTalk managed to secure an apprenticeship and learn the art of candy making from the Aussies Lolly Masters, Ross and Judy. Ross and Judy were the undisputed leaders in candy-making in Queensland. The couple have won several awards at the 2009 Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards, Australia's premium fine food event that is held annually to give recognition to outstanding producers in the Australian fine food industry, including all its major candy and dessert makers. Ross and Judy were awarded the gold medal for their fruit rock mix, silver medal for lollypops and bronze medal for design candy. With so much awards the masters have gotten, I'm sure LollyTalk have acquire the great skil too.

These lovely candies is able to help people to express their feelings. When a person is in love, they can buy a big packets of rock candies with heart shape design on it.

When a couple gets married, they have the double happiness candies to celebrate the occasion. I'm looking forward to get customize candies with my online name (chewyjas) on it. *Hint*

LollyTalk are full of commitment to make the best tasting quality candies and so they are always on the lookout for new flavours. Most of the fruity flavours are passed down by the grandmaster.

And also some exotic flavours (Root Beer and the rest is a secret! Will only get to find out when the shop open this coming end December) just for the likes of Singaporean. Design might varies from picture below. Stay tuned for updates.

As Singapore weather is hot, the candies are packaged nicely in bottles and cute zip-lock bags. This ensure the freshness of the candies and also make great gifts idea for special occasion.

So remember to like and stay tuned to LollyTalk's facebook page here to get more details on the official opening of the flagshop at Plaza Singapura (B2-20). I hope to be there to witness their opening and I heard that a life size mascot of Rocky will be there too!!! Can't wait to take photos with the cutie Rocky! Cheers!
