Bangkok Trip Arrival Day 1 : Changi Airport -> Suvarnabhumi Airport -> Grand President Hotel -> Night Market

My Bangkok trip all begins when I saw this "attractive" offer on the Outlet website. It seems real cheap at one glance, read the fine prints and noted that the Airport tax of $138 per pax is not included in the $199 package. Still, I find it quite reasonable. Went ahead to purchase it online in June and got it redeem in July.

I was pretty excited about this trip as it's my bf and my first trip to Bangkok. Seek opinions and advice to where to go to from friends who have been there. Also did some research online. Everyone told me the same thing. Two shopping malls that can never be missed. Platinum Fashion Mall and MBK Center. Big thanks to Cindy for taking the initiative to e-mail and share with me her itinerary and passing me the maps. Bf's sis also passed us some map and told us the places to visit and what to buy there.

I only started packing my luggage the day before and even in the morning of the departure day I was still thinking what to bring. This time round, I only brought about two set of clothes and some empty bags thinking that I should be able to buy lots of things back. My Mum and Bro also accompanied us to take the MRT to the Airport.

Before Departure
60 minutes Proceed for Boarding
40 minutes Check-in Close
20 minutes Boarding Gate Close

We still have some time before boarding so we took a quick bite at Caffe Ritazza. It's our breakfast. Have written my review here.

Not much people at this cafe while it's so crowded elsewhere. Bf's parents also came to bid us farewell. Bf's mum is so nice to give us a ang bao for safe trip each.

Lady bird at Changi Airport.

Gigantic bear.

Myanmar Airline is the flight we will be taking. Rest and relax at the lounge here while charging our iPhones at the public charging locker. This is really one of the useful facilities that Changi Airport offer.

It's bf's first time on the plane so I gave up my favourite window seat to him.

Our lunch onboard. Nice. Fish rice and Chicken Potato.

The Thai language is simply cute. Like little doodles of the stick-man.

Four hours later, our plane finally touch down at Suvarnabhumi Airport. We didn't arrange for any airport transfer so we head out to B1 for the Airport Rail Link owned and operated by the State Railway of Thailand.

Luckily their ticket vending machine is in two languages. Main one in Thai and option to switch to English.

This is their train ticket. Comes in the form of a coin. I'm so scared that I will drop it so I have to hold it tightly in my hand.

On board the train. It's the first station so we are still able to find seats.

Got off at Ratchaprarop station and have to take another train.

MRT or Bangkok Metro to Sukhumvit station.

Their token are black in colour.

That identical clock that can be spotted in our MRT stations.

We still have to change another BTS Skytrain to Nana station before we reached our hotel.

This time round, the ticket is a card instead of the tokens.

After transferring three different trains in Thailand, we finally reached our hotel - Grand President Hotel.  It's divided into Tower 1, 2 and 3 and our room is at tower 3. We were quite shocked when we were asked to pay a further 1800 THB (SGD 75) as hotel room tax. Guessed we didn't really looked carefully at the hotel voucher.

A King size bed for us. Both the left and right side are mirrors. I wish there's not so much mirror as sometime in the mirror one will see things that are not supposed to be seen.

The TV set and table for us.

There's a fridge and everyday they will provide us with two bottles of complimentary water as tap water in Thailand is not suitable for consumption.

After we put down our barang barang, we decided to go out and soak ourselves into the Thailand atmosphere. Bf loves to eat so he started off by buying some meat stick by the roadside. We don't even know what kind of meat it is.

Spotted a tuk-tuk!

Time passed very fast and the sky has turned dark. Unfortunately, it was also raining. We took shelter at the massage shop here.

All the equipment needed.

Clean and massage our feet first.

Satisfied after a full body Thai massage. Thai massage is very different from the normal massage I have done. No oil is used. It's more on pulling, stretching and bending.

After massage, it's still raining, we went to the food court opposite to have our Thai dinner.

Dinner time.

We walked along the night market and came to a shopping mall near to us. It's the Queen's Birthday on 12th August.

Our room number.

Bought a few items at the night market as the rain has totally spoil our mood to walk further. The night market here is like our pasam malam in Singapore. Didn't really saw anything special.

Spotted a lot alot of Angry Bird and Sponge Bob Square Pants items here. Must be their top selling items. Was quite tired already so after watching a bit of the TV (Showing some movies like - Memoirs of Geisha), I slept like a baby till next day.

Total expenses for the day
Him: 1,763 THB for the train tickets, snacks, dinner, massage, shopping, etc
Me: 1,800 THB for the Hotel Tax.
