[EVENT] Artbox Singapore 2018 : Escape into the Oasis

Singapore largest pop-up creative market, Artbox Singapore is back for the second year and it proves to be bigger and better than before!

Spanning across the Bayfront Event Space of over 140,000 square feet, the event is able to cater for an estimated crowd size of 700,000 people. This is three times the size bigger compared to last year. I have to mention that the organisers have indeed learnt from past experience and tackled the overcrowding issue very well.

Be invited into the oasis with the dedicated entrance archway (with bags check in place for security) and two exits, as well as ample spaces in between the different row of stalls.

The entrance also served as the media viewing deck which is constructed using the iconic 20-foot shipping containers. From the media viewing deck, we can get a good overview of the whole Artbox event. Both Meryl and I took quite a few nice photos here.

The theme for Artbox Singapore this year is Oasis which represent an urban escape from cityscape into a sanctuary of experiential imagination. Instead of the black and white containers last year, they have painted the containers with vibrant colours to suit the theme.

There are more than 400 regional and local creative retailers in this event. Many of the vendors that participated last year came back this year as well. This shows that this is a great place to reach out to the public. There new vendors from the region like Thai designers Porky Studio, Moonset and Nokkajib and also local brands such as Cereal Citizen.

Drink the night away at Thailand's world-renowned lager, Singha's fun-filled beer garden with Beer pong, DJ sessions and photobooth. Gryphon Tea Co. makes its debut appearance in Artbox Singapore with tea mocktails made from its Botanically Cold Brewed Sparkling Teas. Excellent thirst-quenchers for the sunny weather. These tea mocktails are served in tumblers with LED lights to brighten up the night!

Escape the heat and enter into the unique foam pit decked with pool floats and psychedelic colours. Housed in 4x20 feet long containers and decked out with inflatable pool floats, this is a new addition to Artbox Singapore. Entrance is free with a minimum spend of $20 using any cashless payment method.

DBS Singapore is once again the presenting sponsor for this year's edition. DBS Cardholder members can relax and chill at this DBS designated area. Visitors to Artbox Singapore can even challenge somebody from DBS Marina Regatta that is happening across the bay.

Creative art installations crafted on Artbox's unique shipping containers. This took two artists two days to be painted out.

Artbox Singapore 2018 is organised by Invade (@invade.co) in conjunction with Artbox Thailand (@artbox_th). Visitors of all ages can look forward to a variety of interactive elements and activities, creative art installations and a wide variety of delectable food, in celebration of the local creative retail landscapes.

[EVENT] ARTBOX Singapore 2017 : Extra perks from title sponsor, DBS Bank

Bangkok's famous creative market Artbox will be in Singapore over two weekends from 14th to 16th April and 21st to 23rd April, 3 pm to 11 pm at the Bayfront Event Space beside Marina Bay Sands.

Admission to Artbox Singapore is free and I was there today in the late afternoon, squeezing around with the crowds in my poncho and umbrella. Instead of using shipping containers like the ones in Bangkok, booths here are set up using modular scaffoldings made of metal. The experience is more like walking in an over-crowded Pasar Malam.

There's a mixture of food and beverage booths and some fashion and art booths. There are a lot of interesting and unique booths but due to the rain and crowds, I could only watch from far. The vendor line-up for each weekend will be different, so you may wish to go down on the two weekends.

Some of the interesting highlights include:

- Chill Out Hammocks
- Chang Beer Garden
- Free Tattoo by MTV Asia
- Busking Performances
- Vintage cars and Kombi Vans
- Thousands of fairy lights (official light up on 14 April, 7pm)
- Live Radio Broadcast from Power 98 and 88.3 fm
- All vendors are equipped to accept payment by cash, NETS or credit cards

Happy to catch-up and explore the place with @ck.chai !

Extra perks from title sponsor, DBS Bank:
