[Event] Candylicious time at SOPHISCA 菓風小舖 , Marina Square

Sophisca, the first specialty candy brand from Taiwan since 1997, launched a whole new collection of "tricking treats" especially for April's Fools Day, these are on top of their usual quirky confectionery. Went down to Sophisca's newly opened outlet at Marina Square for some sweet treats as well as to see their newly launched collections. Thanks Meryl for the group photo.

A quick tour of what you can expect to find at Sophisca aka A Sweet Place for Sweethearts.

1. CANDIES IN MASON JAR

What I liked about this series is that the candies are all individually wrapped. Have encountered before candies sticking together after being left in the jar for a long time. Furthermore, there's many other great uses for the mason jar after you've finished eating the candies inside. I personally created a bedside lamp by putting some fairy light inside the mason jar. Simple and pretty!

2. GIFTS

Under the gifts section, the candies and chocolate are already all nicely packaged. It's a grab and go for those last minute shoppers.

3. TRUE WORDS, SAY IT ON CHOCOLATE

This is my favourite section in the shop and also the section I spent the most time at.

There's so many message to choose from but first, let me find the alphabets to piece up my name - JAS!

Quite amused to find these Singlish packaging created for some fun. Very good for gifts for your overseas friends. Really is Steady La!

Love you, Love me, Love is all around.

4. SOPHI'S CHOCO

Sophi's choco comes in many different flavours and nicely wrapped too.

The four flavours of Sophi's Choco that I bought back as gifts.

5. SPECIAL BUYS

What they meant by special buys is actually confectionery pack in special packaging. Cotton candies disguised as pads, chocolate in a condom box, plaster candies, etc. I'm actually quite curious to find out what it's like inside but didn't get it and didn't received this type of presents before either.

6. CHOCOLATE

Ok, more chocolates but this time in medication packaging. I think they are trying to convey the message that eating more chocolate is not that bad afterall.

[Event] Mixologist by Perrier with Laurent Greco at Mariko

Perrier, a naturally sparkling mineral water from France, is an indispensable ingredients being used in a Mixologist's cocktail, including some of the Classics such as the Whisper, Gin Fizz, The Collins Cocktails and Mojito.

Perrier is best known for its distinctive shaped green bottle, high levels of naturally occurring carbonation and is naturally low in bicarbonate and sodium content. It is treasured for its high quality composition which perfectly preserves and complements the flavour of spirits. Distributed to more than 140 countries, the intense, sparkling bubbles make Perrier a good choice for refreshment for quenching thirst.

This guy here is Laurent Greco, a master mixologist of "Mixology by Perrier", the cocktail project of Perrier. Laurent's mixology techniques got recognized and came into the limelight when he won the French National Cocktail Championship in 1992 upon graduation as a bartender. He later pursued his professional career as a bartender in Miami before delved into the Asian market as he managed a bar concept in Singapore.

Laurent is now the international brand ambassador for Perrier and lives in Paris, owning a bar called "Mojito Lab" where people can enjoy creative Mojito cocktails presented by various techniques proposed by the Liquid Chef himself.

Laurent flown in to Singapore especially for a first ever Perrier Masterclass session held on 16 March for Singapore Cocktail Week 2016. I am really honoured to be able to witness the live demonstration and a step-by-step process of how Laurent Greco concocted a range of cocktails, mixing an array of original flavours with Perrier before the Masterclass.

In his live demonstration, he showcase the art of mixology and innovative techniques used to present a cocktail by playing with open flame, lighted cubes and smoke. He advice us not to add in ice cubes in the drinks as ice cube is actually tap water but Perrier is French sparkling water. You wouldn't want to dilute your drink that way and pay for tap water which I felt really make sense.

Everytime when he is concocting a drink, in his mind he would be thinking of the customers, what would the customer wants? Usually is to take photos so he have to think of creative ways to present the drink. One advice he gives to us is to be proud of who we are, to create the experience for the guests. This is the process of making the Perrier Smoky Mojito.

Presenting the Perrier Smoky Mojito that was presented in a smoky glass dome. The way this drink is being presented ignites our sense of sight, smell and taste. The eyes see how nicely presented the drink is in the dome, the nose smell the smoke that covered the inside of the dome and the mouth taste the drinks. For those who would like to create this drink at home, here's the ingredients:

1/3 oz (4cl) of dark rum
a few drops of angostura bitters
2/3 oz (2cl) sugar cane syrup
Fresh mint
2/3 (2cl) fresh lime juice
1/3 oz (4cl) of chilled PERRIER
1 smoking gun
1 cigar
1 Glass dome

If you can't find a glass dome, maybe you can present in a paper lantern which can be found easily.

Look at that bubble! Interesting to know, it was infused with Chanel No. 5.

Ingredients for Apple Bubbles as follows:

10ml Apple Syrup
30ml Apple Schnapps
40ml Vodka
40ml PERRIER water

Be yourself, be sincere, be proud of who you are and what you are doing. Just like how when I'm blogging, the purpose is to share these interesting events and stories to more people.

Thanks Jessie for bringing us to this event.

May PERRIER inspire you!

[Food Tasting] Bodacious Bar & Bistro at Biopolis

Bodacious Bar & Bistro is a hidden gem for brunch, lunch or dinner in the west area of Singapore, to be exact it's located at 70 Biopolis Street, a few minutes walk from Buona Vista MRT station. It has been opened since July 2014.

Interestingly, the word Bodacious is the combination of two words - Bold and Audacious. To be bodacious is to be impressive and awesome and this is really the right terms for Bodacious Bar & Bistro.

Just look at their bold and gigantic signboard across the wall. Proves to be a very good spot for photo taking. The interior or Bodacious takes on a modern looks approach and they also have outdoor seats.

DRINKS

Bodacious Signature Mocktail - S$4.20

A sour and refreshing drink with slice of lemon, grapefruit and mint leaves that brings out the flavours.

APPETIZERS

Thai Grilled Beef Salad - S$13.80

Sirloin beef strips with a refreshing combination of healthy greens, trio of peppers, pomelo, cherry tomatoes, daikon, basil, mint and Thai vinaigrette dressing. So you think it's easy to cook up a salad? This seems like a lot of ingredients in one dish. Oh, and since I don't take beef, I ate lots of flower petals and veggies from this dish.

Prawn Bisque Bread Bowl - S$14.80

Seafood bisque served in a sourdough bread bowl. This is so tasty and the sourdough bread bowl has already absorbed the flavourful bisque thus you can just eat the bowl together. The plate was nicely decorated with the flower petals again and I really like it.

ALL-DAY BREAKFAST

Bodacious' Egg Benedict - S$14.80

Poached eggs served with hollandaise sauce, Norwegian smoked salmon, avocado spread on English muffins topped with a side of asparagus, tomato and Portobello mushroom.

Croissant & Scrambled Eggs - S$14.80

Crispy bacon with heritage croissant that is filled with scrambled eggs and served with fresh fruits, a side of asparagus, tomato & Portobello mushroom.

MAINS

Seafood Risotto - S$15.80

Pan-seared prawns, calamari, parmesan and risotto coated in a flavourful seafood broth.

Girlled Chicken & Pesto Pasta - S$14.80

Succulent girlled chicken tossed in freshly made pesto sauce and Al Dente pasta.

Laksa Pasta - S$15.80

Flower clams, seared prawns, dory fish and squid all mixed together with this laksa spaghetti. This is one dish that will makes me come back for more. The laksa sauce was so fragrant but not too creamy and spicy.

Fatty Duck Confit - S$19.80

Country-style duck confit served with garlic, potato mash and dark cherry sauce topping. The skin was crispy and the meat was not too dry. Just to my liking.

Tenderloin Steak & Fries - S$21.80

The grilled Australia grass-fed beef dressed with chimichurri sauce and served with house-cut fries and fresh vegetables. I don't take beef but my friends who love beef all commented that this is a super value-for-money dish.

Pulled Pork Burger - S$14.80

The shredded baked pork belly was layered with spicy apple BBQ sauce and melted cheddar. Instead of the usual french fries, sweet potato fries was served.

Shibuya Toast - S$13.80

Japanese version of French toast, also known as Shibuya. The soft milk bread was toasted and drizzled with butter and maple syrup. A single scope of vanilla ice-cream as well as some berries and banana complete this dessert totally.

Bodacious have special weekday set lunch menu as well as happy hours menu, to cater to all foodies anytime of the day. They change their lunch set menu every two weeks so be sure to explore all the different options. It's also a great place to hold gatherings and functions. I will definitely be back again.

[PERSONAL] Clothes Donation at Dressabelle + Clothes Swapping at 313 Somerset

Forced myself to pack my clothes over the weekend due to the two initiatives by DRESSABELLE and 313 Somerset that can give my pre-loved clothing new owners. I have two wardrobe of clothes and some bags of unsorted clothes, all of those are either bought by me or given to me by my friends when they are clearing their wardrobe. I really appreciate cause some of the clothes I received really looks nice and fits me well. Feeling grateful for the kind thoughts of them wanting me to look better.

That's me at Dressabelle, Centrepoint outlet trying out the dresses after my donation. This was taken on Saturday. In the end, I didn't buy this two dresses that I've tried on.

I first get to know of this wonderful initiative by DRESSABELLE thanks to the FaceBook posting by Que Origin as they were one of the sponsors.

Racks of dresses at Dressabelle, Centrepoint. Learnt that there's a lot more at their Playfair outlet from an Instagram friend.

The dress I bought in the end. Usual price cost S$25, after utilizing the $15 voucher, this only cost S$10! So happy for this best buy.

On Sunday, I came back again with Meryl. I didn't buy anything so only she bought.

Message behind the discount card. I hope that there will be more of such nice initiate that we can participate. On one hand, we can do our part to give back to society by donating our pre-loved clothes, they can get some business too when we buy new dresses with the vouchers. So it's basically a win-win situation.

My other bag of clothes goes to the Green & Gorgeous Fashion Swap by 313 Somerset. Today is only the dropped off day and they are really strict in examining the clothes brought to them. A little dot of stain will not get clearance. This is to ensure that during the swap on 19th March, others are getting quality clothes. However, I felt that the quality of clothes can be really subjective.

Went shopping with Meryl at Metro and they are currently having a membership drive so with our purchase we both become Metro Lifetime Members. Lol.

Dinner was at 49 Seats with Meryl, tried their Tom Yum Pasta. Sauce too thick for my liking but innovative.

And then we had Gong Cha before I left to meet one of the Instagram winner. Really thankful for staying out late with me until the winner is ready to meet.

Ending my post with this quote spotted at Metro.

Don't wait for the perfect moment.
Take the moment and make it perfect.
