It's time to usher in the rabbit for the Chinese New Year! Do you know that in Vietnam, rabbit wasn't included in the 12 zodiac at all. Instead, replacing the rabbit in the fourth position of the zodiac is the cat! From some online sources, it is said that the difference is caused by the pronunciation of rabbit which sounds like cat in Vietnam. Anyway, the symbolization of the two animals did not differs much. Both animals are assumed to symbolize cleverness, mental acuteness and an aristocratic air.
In early January, SMRT came out with a contest called "Usher in the golden rabbit" origami contest and provided us with the instruction below that guide us to make our own origami rabbit. I folded the paper rabbit above but didn't take part in the contest since I felt my rabbit is not up to standard. Thus, the paper rabbit is now sitting comfortably on my computer table and looking at me. If you all have some spare time, perhaps can try to fold some paper rabbits for decoration purpose?
Anyway, talking about rabbit year, I did a brief readings of some of the predictions online and I can summarize that this year is a great year for romance but a busy year for me. Friends who don't believe in these predictions makes sarcastic remarks that all the predictions are basically common sense. Warning people to rest more, bring jade, bring stone etc. If everyone will have good fortune once they follow all the rules, this world will not have unlucky people. Well, I believed the saying, "rather believe then not to believe" though I'm not one of those crazy followers, I'm still interested to read about it and get a glimpse of what can be in store the whole year.
So do end this post, I wish everyone a prosperous lunar new year with good health, good wealth and good luck. HUAT AH!
