Toy Story 3 at Jurong Point

Before we went to catch Toy Story 3, bf and I first recap on the previous 2 episode. Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2. The conclusion is the story just gets better with each episode and I guess Toy Story 3 would be the last of the Toy Story series as in this movie we see Andy the original owner grown up and the toys are now belonged to another kids.

The original cast from Toy Story 2. No doubt, Woody and Buzz Lightyear are still the MAIN charecters in the movie.

We see the additional of cast like Ken, lots o huggin bear who appears to be friendly but actually is a bad monster due to his bad encounter with kids, he do not believed that toys are kids buddy for life.

In Toy Story 3, there are a few parts of the movie which makes me laugh like mad and that is when Buzz got reset to the spanish mode and falls heels in love with Jessie the cowboy girl. It's so funny and unexpectable as I thought Jessie would be with Woody. The ending part is super touching as we see Andy unwillingly parted with the first toy he had and that is Woody. Overall is a nice, heartwarming show to watch.

Let's pledge our support for "Power Over Cervical Cancer 2010" - Prevent and Protect

My post today is to raise awareness to everyone about Cervical Cancer. For the ladies, we need to take precautions and prevention as Cervical Cancer is one of the most common cancer affecting Singapore women and the scary part is that it has no signs or symptoms at all in the early stage. For the guys, please let the women around you know about the seriousness of this cancer.

To take the first step, we can all pledge our support for Power Over Cervical Cancer.

Some facts on Cervical Cancer

* It is a disease which cells in the cervix grows abnormally
* It is one of the most common cancer among women in Singapore
* It has no signs or symptoms at early stage
* Before the disease reaches the later stage, a Pap smear is able to detect the pre-cancerous cells at early stage
* Lifestyle habits like smoking increase the possibility by 10 times more of contracting this
* Cervical cancer can be treated if detected early

Before I read about this website, I didn't know much about this cancer, but now it prompted me to encourage women around me to go for regular pap smear screening and vaccination. There's also an online risk assesment test but we shouldn't rely on the result to seek prevention. We all can do our part by sharing this website to friends and family.

Signing off,

Power Over Cervical Cancer is a campaign that aims to make Singapore the country with the lowest incidence of Cervical Cancer and they need your help to spread the word. Pledge your support for this cause and protect those you care about by telling them about Cervical Cancer. Together, we have POWER Over Cervical Cancer. Click the button below to begin!

GSS : Shopping + Dessert Time at Honeymoon Dessert

It could be the fact that my workplace doesn't have much shopping centre around and thus I didn't have a chance to shop much. Or it could also be the spare time I have while waiting for bestie to off work. Or it might as well be the fact that it's the Great Singapore Sales that motivated me to buy so much. I was really proud of myself for getting great bargaines at cheap prices. Bought one dress at $8, two office skirts for $10 each and one office jacket for $25 from Wanko Harboufront. I also thought of buying bags and shoes but thought I might go shopping other days so bags and shoes shall leave to other time. After Lis knocked off, we went to have desserts! Long queue.

Fish Liberation For my Bday + Art Fest : Mega Line Dance

This is my actual birthday gift from my parents. A unique way to celebrate my birthday on board "Imperial Cheng Ho". Took a free shuttle bus from the Buddha Tooth relic temple to the Marina pier. Went on board the boat and there was some chanting of prayers. After that, we all lined up and given a pail of fishes. Mum's pail doesn't contain enough water and the fishes were all trying to escape. We poured the fishes down the slide and they slide down into the sea. We felt happy when the fishes were in the sea and watched them swim off. After that, we went back for a vegetarian lunch. They also playing the guess the number game. Loser have to be punished to sing a song.

Buddha's teaching: 放生 / releasing of live is the practice of saving beings facing imminent death. As the Buddha stated, we are going through the repetition of rebirths since beginningless time and thus it is not easy to find a being who has not at one time been our mother, father, brother, or sister. So, when saving the life of another being, Buddhism believes that we are not just saving a fish or a rabbit, but the life of one of our mothers in the past. Among all negative karma, that for killing is the heaviest. Among all positive karma, that for releasing life is the highest.

During the evening, went to the Marina Barrage to attend the Mega Line Dance. It's the closing for Singapore Art Festival. I love Marina Barrage. It's a nice place to go to. For kite flying, for relaxing. Lots of line dancers attend this event. I thought they would teach us how the dance move but it's like a line dance marathon, whereby they danced from 6pm to 9pm, non stop.

Since we don't know the dance moves, we went to the restaurant there to have our dinner. We ordered steamboat standard set for 3-4 persons and 3 bowls of chicken rice. Yummy. Loved the hot soup and they used charcoal which makes the food more tasty. The chicken rice also had a nice garlic taste to it. High recommended.

Some hiccups happened when we were leaving and that is my father's tyre got pricked by some sharp needled and we spent 15 minutes trying to call for help in the end reached home 2 hours later. Tired.

Malay cleaner Auntie youngest son's wedding + Temple Pray pray

Had a chance to attend a Malay wedding. Was invited by our office cleaner Auntie. She invited her colleagues, some secretaries and some bosses. I was happy to sort of represent my side to attend. The malay marriage is considered a regal affair and the groom and bride are treated as King and Queen of the day.

This grandly designed bridal chamber is known as the pelamin or wedding dais. It is especially created for the bersanding (sitting in state) ceremony which is of course the highlight and perhaps the most essential event.

The groom and bride finally arrived at mid-afternoon. The arrival is accompanied by the hadrah troupe made up of mostly teenagers. They started beating the kompang (hand drums) and sing Quranic verses and good wishes. The groom was also accompanied by a guy on the right carrying the bunga manggar (palm blossoms) and a busload of relatives and friends.

The King and Queen with the groom's family.

..........................................................................................

The later part of the afternoon, went to the 新加坡佛牙寺龙华院. It was my first time there. It's not only a temple but also a museum. 5 storey high in total including a rooftop full of orchids and a giant prayer wheel. I found my guandian spirit for those born in the year of Ox and Tiger to be Akasagarbha. His wisdom is said to be boundless as space itself thus his name is 虛空藏菩薩  translated as "boundless space treasury" or "void store". It's a quiet and peaceful place to go to and also a place to gain more understanding of the Buddha.

First meet up with Princess Ting @ Pizza Hut

Meet up with Lis and friends at Pizza Hut. Ordered  a Trio Chicken (Crunchy Cheesy Bites) with chicken roll, chicken sausages & roasted chicken on thousand island sauce and a Hawaii Pizza plus my favourite Sweet and Spicy drumlets.

This is the first time meeting Princess Ting. Nine months old. Super cute, everyone's attention is on her. As she still can't express herself with words, we have to try to interpret what she's thinking with her actions and that's how I came up with the above. :P Quite fun.
