[Food] Dinner at Shakey's Pizza in Asian Food mall of Lucky Plaza

I brought my girl out on a date to Orchard and we went to Shakey's Pizza for dinner. Shakey's Pizza started over 65 years ago in California and just opened its first outlet in Singapore last year. Located inside the Asian Food Mall, B1 of Lucky Plaza, Shakey's Pizza is a great and convenient place for my girl and I to enjoy some pizza and fried chicken.

History of Shakey's, the Brand that Started it all

Many may not know that Shakey's was the first pizza chain in the United States and the brand name can be traced back to its co-founder, Sherwood "Shakey" Johnson, he got this nickname as a result of suffering from nerve damage and malaria during World War II. Back in the days, Shakey personally played Dixieland jazz piano to entertain customers, and his mantra was "You'll have fun at Shakeys". Today, Shakey's stores can be found in the states of California and Washington, as well as in Japan and the Philippines, delighting pizza enthusiasts across different countries with more than 500 stores. The brand is highly popularised in the Philippines and many even have the misconception that Shakey's originated from there.

World Famous Thin Crust, Fresh Pizza Dough

Shakey's Pizza takes immense pride in their signature thin crust pizza with pizza dough that is made from scratch daily using their own recipe to ensure a distinct flavour and to maintain the highest quality and freshness. Diners can find unique pizza flavours featuring Shakey's recipes such as the Manager's choice, Beef Pepperoni Crunnchhh, Spinach and Glazed Turkey Bacon, Shakey's Special and more. The Beef Pepperoni Cunnchhh comes with Beef Pepperoni slices with crunchy cracklin' U.S. potato strings, making it feels like shredded hashbrowns on a pizza for that extra crunch.

I ordered the Shakey's Special that is loaded with Beef, Italian Beef, Beef Pepperoni, Beef Salami, Mushrooms, Green Bell Pepper and Onions. The thin and crispy crust complement with the flavourful toppings perfectly.

Chicken 'N' Mojos

In addition to pizza, Shakey's fried chicken and their trademarked mojos are also some popular items among customers so I also ordered to try. Shakey's fried chicken is crispy, tender and super juicy. Thumbs up to that. It is served with a special brown gravy to enhance the flavour even more. As for Shakey's unique Mojos, trademarked since the 1990s, these are sliced potato coated and fried with their in-house batter. It comes with mayo dipping sauce. Instead of the usual french fries and wedges, mojos are found here and my girl was so curious about them. Good to know, they also have packet chili sauce if you are like me who prefers to dip in chili sauce.

Other items on the Menu, Wholesome Combo and Dessert

For those of you who wants to order and try everything on the menu, you can also get it all at Shakey's under their Wholesome Combo section. There's different variations of their Bunch of Lunch that allow diners to pick 3 items pizza, chicken, pasta, mojos or simply with their garlic bread. When I was ordering my food, I also spotted this Choc'O S'mores under the dessert section. Topped with Nutella Hazelnut spread and marshmallows, I wish they comes in smaller portion, I almost wanted to order it but I guess with just my girl and I, we wouldn't be able to finish it.
