The Exorcist: Believer exclusive fright night movie screening was the perfect movie for Friday, the 13th. I won a complimentary pair of movie tickets by taking part in an Instagram contest organized by Bugis Junction X Bugis Plus. Honestly, not many of my friends are big fans of horror movies, even my hubby dislikes them saying why should we pay money to scare ourselves? Thus, even though it's free tickets, I still have to find someone to go with me. I was lucky that Jessie, one of the few friends who also loves horror movie is available and can accompany me to this screening.
After work, I went over to Bugis Junction to collect the complimentary movie tickets. After collecting the movie tickets, I met Jessie at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe, Bugis+ for our dinner. I had the claypot prawn vermicelli and spam fries for sharing. It was great.
We had a very casual and relaxed dinner as we had a lot of time to spare before the pre-admission event start at 9.30pm while the movie screening start at 11.30pm. After dinner, we went over to Pet Lover Centre and Daiso to get some gifts for Miyu's first birthday party the next day. I had no idea what to buy so bought a toy and some nibbles snacks.
Gelare had a limited edition cookie monster themed dessert until 16 November and so although we were full from our dinner, we bought a drink and this super cute Cookie Monster Waff-sicle to share and sit down to chat. So cute and yummy.
Finally, it was about 10pm so we walked over to Golden Village and collected the candy bucket. The Halloween pumpkin bucket was filled to the brim with lots of candies and chocolate. Inside also contains some temporary Halloween tattoos. We also received a movie poster, which I'm not sure what I will do with it yet.
Jessie and I also took photos at the Instant Photo Booth with Exclusive The Exorcist: Believer backdrop. This was before I changed into the costume.
This was after I changed into the costume I brought with me. When I went to the washroom to change into this costume, another lady saw me in this costume and we both ended up laughing. I also brough the Scream mask to complete the outfit but I don't feel comfortable wearing it.
Before the movie started, there was a Best Dressed Contest. I didn't put on my mask so the host was not aware of my costume. To be honest, although I like to dress up for the occasion, I don't enjoyed being in the limelight nor the attention it gets. A few others also dressed up and congrats to the well deserved winners.
Overall, I felt The Exoricist: Believer movie was not scary at all, there was only one jump scare scene. The plot was pretty draggy, especially when they were finding the lost girls. I would rate this movie 6/10 popcorns for the final plot twist where during the exorcism for the two girls, the demon asked for the impossible choice for the parents to choose which girl gets to live and which one to die. Initially, both side of the parents refused to make a decision to forsake each other's child. Suddenly, Katherine's father Tony panics and yelled out that he choose Katherine to live, and Angela lifeless body floats up while Katherine looks normal. Suddenly, we saw flashes of Katherine in the drain and suffering and the demon revealed that the one chosen would be the one who died. That's when Katherine screams and got dragged down to hell by the demon as Angela regains consciousness and started to breathe. This mirrors the one Victor (Angela's father) made in the past, where he chose his wife to live but she actually dies and this was also the plot twist of this movie.
It was a great Friday fright night out, I'm glad to be doing something different once in a while.
XOXO
