Ever since Funan reopened after the renovation, I've been wanting to explore this new mall but couldn't find the free time to drop by. When my bestie forwarded me the email to join this Funan BFF Day Out event in collaboration with Her World, I sent in my interest to join and was selected to attend this event with her. We were both overjoyed to get selected.
On the actual day of the event, all the participants were divided into two groups as we went on a complimentary experiential guided tour around some of the participating retail stores.
Carrie K.
Carrie K., established since 2009 features jewelries that are traditional and unique. Here, we discovered the inspiration behind Carrie K.'s modern heirloom jewelry.
Inspired by the shape of the Peranakan tiles, these coloured gems such as Topaz were used to create this collection.
This collection celebrates Singapore's Bicentennial and the power of community and collaboration. Inspired by the architecture and design of The National Theatre, an icon of Singapore.
This collection known as Journey is a collaboration between Carrie K. and Paige Parker, who is well known to be the woman who travelled around the World with her husband in a custom-built yellow Mercedes. The collaboration is in support of the Singapore Committee for UN Women to inspire women to take charge of their own journeys in life. 50% of the profits from this Journey collection will be donated towards the Singapore Committee for UN Women to help those underprivileged women chart their journeys.
I love how they have stack-able rings and a necklace clip that allowed wearers to create different styles for different occasions. This is very versatile and one can easily create a new look with some twist and turn. They even have a pearl bar. #CarrieKrocks
BERNINA
At the BERNINA concept store, we got a chance to design our own tote bag. First, we have to choose the colour of the thread to use. Next, each pair was assigned to a sewing machine and we were required to select the patterns we want on the screen of the sewing machine. Yes, their sewing machine was so advance that we could simply pick the pre-design we wanted and it would be stitched on with just the press of a button. We just need to ensure to move the bag around.
Sewing is a breeze with this machine and the wonderful thing is, it's so easy to create a unique piece for gifting. Just to share, they also have rental or workshop whereby one can just pop by and use their sewing machines on a hourly basis.

Fossil
Fossil is one brand which I like even though I don't really wear a watch nowadays. We checked out the new range of Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches powered by android. The latest update is that now Apple users can receive phone calls using bluetooth too. For music, only Spotify premium users can listen to the music. It can goes up to 30m deep for swimming.
For the sports series, the strap can be easily changed and there's a total of 6 new colours. The watch is super light weight and good to use for swimming up to 50m deep.
Scent by SIX
We explore our senses and create our own signature scent here. We have the top notes which is citrus and refreshing, the middle note which is floral and the bottom which is muskiness.
We got to bring back our own little creation!

A homegrown label started by couple Daniel Chew and Rebecca Ting, we went behind the scene to a fashion designer workspace to understand the whole design process. From researching and gathering ideas to putting them up on the mood board, the whole production process can take months before we see the final product being sold on the racks.
