[BUFFET] Loco Local Buffet at Lime Restaurant, PARKROYAL on Pickering

Fancied a gastronomic upgrade to some of the Singapore's famous local food? Then you are in for a treat this August as PARKROYAL on Pickering brings on an exciting hawker-themed buffet experience where they injects a touch of luxe into the nation's humble hawker culture!

'Loco Local' is the name for this hawker-themed buffet and it will only be available for a limited period at the hotel's iconic Lime Restaurant from 5 August to 1 September 2019. Feast on the local culinary favourites that are infused with the finest ingredients prepared by the acclaimed chefs and be invoked with a taste of familiarity and home. At the same time, expect an abundance of crabs, lobsters and oysters too!

I went for their unhosted tasting and was pleasantly surprised to see the personalized tag on the table that was already neatly set up and reserved. They had even prepared the lemon water for cleaning the hands knowing that we would dirty our hands when we eat the crabs. Really appreciate this gesture.

With August being the month of our National day and feasting being the hobby of most Singaporean, the Loco Local buffet would be serving the nation's favourite dishes such as the Alaskan King Crab Meat Char Kway Teow, Lobster Roti Jala, Hokkien Noodles served with Baby Lobster and Steamed Oysters paired with either Thai Chili, Mala or Sambal Belachan sauces to celebrate this festival in a true blue Singaporean style.

The Lobster Hokkien Mee and Alaska King Crab Meat Char Kway Teow. My advice is to take  them while they are hot. Do not make the same mistake as myself as I took the food and went to the washroom. By the time I returned, the noodles had already turned cold and didn't taste as expected. Thankfully, the main highlights of the dishes were their upgrade of meat which were the lobster and king crab and not so much of the noodles and kway teow.

My favourite dish of the night would have to be this Lobster Roti Jala. Roti Jala, literally mean "Net Bread" and looked like a rolled up lace doily. It is a popular Malay tea time snack served with curry dishes and in this case, the Lobster curry!

Fresh and juicy Steamed Oysters with Sauce. I'm not an Oysters lover thus even though it comes with three different sauces, I did not take any of this. My hubby loved this though.

Other local signature dishes includes the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fried Carrot Cake, Bak Kut Teh Soup with Pork Rib and Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce. Last but not least, the ultimate nation's greatest culinary dish and that is the Singapore Chili Crab!

I loved Hainanese Chicken Rice but I could only enjoy tiny portions of it in order to have the stomach space to try out the rest of the dishes. Special shout-out to the Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce as it was the easiest to eat during buffet and I could eat them on the go while taking some more food! Hehe.

Have some hot fried carrot cake that is cooked on the spot and hot Bak Kut Teh Soup with Pork Rib to warm the tummy!

Singapore Chili Crab was definitely the highlight for most the patrons in the restaurant as I could see that dish at almost every table. The fried crispy bun dipped into creamy and yummy sauce was delicious.

Last but not least, the final highlight for main course would be the Claypot Assam Fish Fillet which I felt would went very well with just plain white rice. The plain white rice was not found on the buffet counter but you could ask for it from the buffet staff.

Get a chance to mix your own Singapore Rojak which I was too bloated to try.

There were a lot of other dishes available at the buffet which I didn't get to try as well. You really had to go with an empty stomach. Strategically, skip two meals before going for this buffet!

The dessert corner was another paradise for sweet lovers like me! End off the meal with a wide selection of desserts from Mini Assorted cakes, Nonya Kuehs, Sweet Soup to some local desserts like the Ice Kacang, Pong Piah, Tau Sar Piah, "Orh Nee" (Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts).

Tried this Tau Huay in a cup and it was so sweet and nice!

Bite-sized Cheng Teng Agar Agar that not only tasted like the real Cheng Teng soup but also had the dried longan inside! Love this unique dessert too! Makes me feel less guilty eating them as it was just a bite size portion!

The rest of the pretty desserts which I didn't have the stomach space to try anymore.

Oh, there's even a Matcha Chocolate Fondue for that immediate sugar high! Warm matcha chocolate with marshmallow, perfect combination. It didn't stop at just marshmallow, they even have the candies and jellies.

Ice Kachang topped with Durian Pengat was too sinful but how can we miss this since we were here?

Wide variety of tropical fruits too! A different plate for different fruits!

Sipping on the Tarik Special in a food coma mode. I really loved the high floor to ceiling ratio which makes the whole restaurant looks really spacious.

Some photos of the interior setting of the restaurant.

Being the first time here, I found lots of insta-worthy spot for photo taking at the hotel itself.

A happy me believes in living to eat, would work for food and love exploring new places for food. If you are feeling hungry after reading this post, do make your reservation in order to binge eat all the yummy gastronomic upgrade of your favourite local hawker food in style at this Loco Local Buffet at Lime Restaurant, PARKROYAL on Pickering!
