The concepts of characters themed cafes are to attracts the fans of those characters and give them a chance to take photos with the food in the form of their favourite characters too. While there are a lot of cafes in Singapore, there's not much characters themed cafes.
I visited the Charlie Brown Cafe at both 313 Somerset on 18th May 2013 and the newly opened one at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. So I decided to post photos taken at both outlets in this one post. It's also like a comparison of the two outlets. On the left/top were photos taken at 313 Somerset and right/bottom were from Cathay Cineleisure Orchard.
MENU
The menu looks the same. No change at all. I supposed the food they have inside are the same too.
FIGURINES
I'm a big fan of the Peanuts Comic. Back in school last time, when we spent the morning assembly time reading the newspaper, I always flip to the comic strips page first. Charlie Brown is one of the characters from the Peanuts gang. The other characters includes the popular Snoopy, Woodstock, Sally Brown, Lucy, Linus, Peppermint Patty and Franklin. Since this cafe is called Charlie Brown cafe and not the Peanuts Cafe, only giant figurines of Charlie Brown and Snoopy is spotted.
DESIGNS
In the Charlie Brown Cafe at 313 Somerset, the tables are printed with the characters of Peanuts gang. At Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. the tables are plain but there is a face of Charlie Brown printed on the floor at the entrance.
ARCHITECTURE
The one at 313 Somerset is non air-conditioned as it's located at the 313 discovery walk while the one at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard is fully air-conditioned since it's inside a shopping mall at level 4.
OVERALL FEEL
The outlet at 313 Somerset has a lot of nice designs on the walls, tables (as mentioned in point 3 aboved) and even ceiling while the outlet at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard has a TV showing the Peanuts cartoon. For your eyes only cause they played some love musics so one can't really hear what was saying in the TV.
PERSON I WENT WITH
The person I went with was different on both occassion.
FOOD
Crepe with ice-cream and chicken wings rice. You can choose the designs and ice-cream flavours for your crepe.
My final conclusion on their food is to just order their desserts. Their mains are ok, not very fantastic. Chicken wings are too salty, mushroom soups taste weird and pasta also average. The snoopy lava cake is nice, it's soft and moist even though the hot chocolate didn't flow out as I expected and it didn't comes with ice-cream.
That's the end of my evaluation. Thank you for reading.
