A day of makan, movie and shopping at JB, Malaysia

Being just a causeway away, lots of Singaporean love to go into JB, Malaysia during the weekend, either to find some good local food or to buy cheap groceries. My friends and I are no different too. We have the plan to go overseas together since last December. Supposed to be going to Malacca but due to some constraint, didn't finalized on that. So ended up 7 of us went for a one day trip to JB. I love the idea of getting my passport chopped since there's so much empty space inside so I don't mind going in a few more times. Hahaha.

From City Square Mall, we took a teksi (taxi) to KSL City Mall. The way to get taxi in Malaysia is something to learn. It's not like in Singapore whereby everything is law by law and the price goes by meter. There, when you get into the taxi, you straight away tell the driver where you want to go and the price you want first. If the driver agrees, everyone hops in. If the driver counter offer another price and we don't agree, they drove off. Best price we've gotten from City Square Mall to KSL City Mall is RM 6. One taxi driver can even offer us RM 10 which we of course rejected since we know the best price already.

Reached KSL City Mall within 10 minutes. Didn't know it's just so near only. There's quite a few shops that caught my attention but wait we need to fill up our stomach first.

Had some local delights - Wantan Mee recommended by Jessie. Nice. Though the noodle looks plain, but it's really quite spicy and springy. I wonder if they have black sauce one. Even though we each have a bowl of dumpling soup, we still ordered an additional big bowl of dumpling soup to share. It's good to go out with a big group so that we can order a lot to share. Each person only pays RM 7 for lunch.

After lunch, we head back to the shopping mall and had desserts! So happy to find the Blackball shop here. I've tried Singapore's one at Star Vista and find it so so only. My friends keep on telling me how nice it is in Malaysia. Now tried and tested, I really agree with her on this too. Somehow Malaysia one taste much better. We bought two types, on the left is the BlackBall Signature. It's more on the grass jelly with toppings like yam balls, sweet potato balls, Taro Q, pearls and red beans. On the right is called Jiu Fen Yam Balls crushed ice. It's more like ice kachang. Both comes with different sauce to add on. Yum Yum. After dividing the cost, each of us only paid RM 2.

Taken using iPhone front camera.  Yay. Managed to get all our faces in after a few attempts. My seat is the chairperson seat and with me are Kaviel, Jessie, Andrew, Terence, Shu Qing and William.

After which, it's time for our movie to start. Watched "The Last Tycoon" and we smuggled in some delicious popcorn bought from the outside stalls. Haha. The movie is a bit sad. Ending everyone dies except one person. Watch it to find out who. Movie was priced at RM 12. For a Sunday ticket. It's considered super cheap.

Had Japanese dinner at Kinashi for RM 25. Bought two dresses for Chinese New Year for RM 50. The bag which is of the same design but smaller compared to my current bag for RM 20. Popcorn for RM 15. Some snacks from the supermart for RM 29.40 and Shihlin Taiwan snacks for RM 4.50. Total spending of the day is only RM 164.90!!! With the same amount of money in Singapore, I think I can only had a good meal in a restaurant and buy a movie ticket with a popcorn set that's all. Pros and cons in going into Malaysia la. The cons is the time taken to travel in and transferring around in the public transport, getting up and down the bus to clear the customs can be quite inconvenient.
