[Event] Launch of the first-ever LG Electronics beauty tech series, LG Pra.L in Singapore!

LG Electronics (LG) Singapore is renowned for their home appliances and mobile phones and so it was a pleasant surprise when they bridged the gap between beauty and tech to launch LG's first ever premium home beauty brand, LG Pra.L.

Making its Southeast Asia debut in Singapore, the new lineup features four home beauty devices designed to heighten existing skincare routines for faster and more apparent results. Built with cutting-edge technology, woman can get all the aging-preventive care right from the comfort of the home.

The inspiration behind the LG Pra.L is the belief that 'true beauty comes from within'. Designed with LG's LED technological expertise, the LG Pra.L devices had already been recognized in the 2018 Korea Brand Hall of Fame presented by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies and Brand Design Association of Korea.

All the four LG Pra.L devices come with the convenience of a silicone handle for better grip, voice assistance to give users verbal guidance to achieve optimal results, USB type-C plugs for easy charging and an extra-long battery life for maximum travel portability.

I was excited to be at the launch event whereby I had my first hands-on experience using and trying out the four LG Pra.L home beauty devices which I would be sharing in more details. Just like how our usual facial regime is, the Dual Cleanser, Galvanic Ion Booster, Total Life Up Care and Derma LED Mask is able to cleanse, nourish, lift and firm the skin respectively.

Dual Cleanser: Deep Cleansing for Soft, Glowing Skin (Retail Price S$449)

The Pra.L Dual Cleanser comes with two brush head with different motions for effective cleansing. Attach the silicone brush for gentle daily cleansing and the fine fiber brush for deep pore cleansing. The device will automatically detects which brush is attached and change the mode accordingly.

As the device is completely waterproof, users can conveniently use it in the shower or clean under running water. It also comes with a cradle that has an in-built UV light to sanitize the brush when not in use, enhancing product life and ease-of-use.

Galvanic Ion Booster: Enhancing Absorption of Skincare Ingredients (Retail Price S$529)

The Galvanic Ion Booster has two mode, the Cleansing Mode to draw out impurities such as residual makeup and the Boost Mode to boost absorption of skincare products. A gentle heat massage follows to relieve facial tension. The science behind this is that it uses Iontophoresis (a method that utilizes electrical current to allow the nutrients in skin products to penetrate deeper into the skin's surface), ultrasonic waves and thermal therapy to cleanse the skin and boost absorption of skincare products.

In terms of design, the Galvanic Ion Booster has a soft and triangular-head made from medical implant-grade material to provide a superior corrosion resistance and helps to smoothly glide over the contours of the face. It is also portable with an extra long battery life that can lasts up to two weeks on a single charge.

It is recommended for users to apply each mode for nine minutes a day for a period of two weeks to achieve vibrant skin.

Total Lift Up Care: Deep Tissue Tightening and Lifting with Red LED Light (Retail Price S$699)

There are also two modes for the Total Lift Up Care, the Tightening Mode which uses high-frequency thermal therapy and red LED light to penetrate the deep layers of skin and trigger collagen production, while the Lifting Mode uses microcurrents which stimulates skin tissue and muscles for a tightening and lifting effect.

A woman's collagen production starts to decline at about age 25 and decreases even further after 40. This device helps to achieve plump and youthful skin through its tightening and lifting functions. User will be able to see improvements in skin elasticity and achieve a slimmer face after using this twice a week for 8 weeks.

Derma LED Mask: Only Nine Minutes a Day for Brighter, More Radiant Skin (Retail Price S$1,349)

The Derma LED Mask uses 160 LEDs (80 red and 80 infrared) of long and short wave light to penetrate the skin at different depths. It rejuvenates skin layers to encourage cell regeneration for firm, radiant skin. Users is able to see visible improvement in skin tone and skin density by simply using this for nine minutes a day over four weeks.

The Derma LED Mask is safe and effective to use and is the only Korean-made product of its kind to be given an "FDA cleared" rating by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The user-friendly Derma LED Mask has a transparent visor that allows users to still be able to see through the mask whilst wearing it, so users can multi-task at home for efficiency while enjoying their treatment. It also protects the eyes with an eye-shield design made from safe silicone for comfort, minimizing the glare from the LED lights. An additional safety feature includes Sensing Detector, where the mask operates only when correctly positioned on the face.

We had a fun time testing out the mask and guessing who was behind the mask. For those who are curious, it was a totally painless process, it's like a mask attached to a spectacles.

There were a few vanity corners which also features skincare products from SU:M37.

We also took lots of photos at the Cloud Booth GIF X Photo Dual Mode Photo Booth and the effect was pretty cool.

There was a booth for us to create our own essential oil or get the pre-blended ones. There's even a LG Signature Blend created just for this event. We decided to just get the pre-blended oil instead of mixing on our own.

This whole LG Pra.L beauty set allow users to enjoy salon treatment anytime and anywhere. Check out the LG Pra.L exclusive pop-up store at Tangs Plaza until 9 September 2019.

[EVENT] LG G7+ ThinQ Smartphone Media Launch

LG Electronics (LG) introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G7+ ThinQ during their media launch held at Zouk Singapore today. Combining artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, super bright display and surround sound features for a powerful user experience.

Retailing at S$1,198 and available from 2nd June at M1, Singtel, StarHub and other LG authorized retailers, the LG G7+ThinQ will come in three different colours - New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Gray. The polished metal rim gives the smartphone a premium and sleek look, complemented by Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back for enhanced durability.

LG G7+THINQ CAMERA FUNCTIONS WITH ENHANCED AI CAPABILITIES

The LG G7+ThinQ comes with an 8MP front camera and 16MP rear camera in both standard and Super Wide Angle configuration. Here is the demo of how the Super Wide Angle function works, so even if the phone is quite near to the eiffel tower picture, we are still able to capture the whole eiffel tower after switching it to the Super Wide Angle mode.

The AI features have also been enhanced since they were first introduced in the LG V30S+ThinQ. Offering 19 shooting modes from its previous 8, users can improve the quality of the photos further by selecting from three other effect options. From the demo, when we point the camera to this vase of flowers, it will flash out certain keywords and finally fixed on 'flowers'

My favourite features has got to be their new Super Bright Camera that can brightens images up to four times more than the typical photos shot in dim light. Through the combination of pixel binning and software processing, the AI algorithm adjusts the camera setting automatically when shooting in low light. Look at how bright and vibrant this photo look and it's not even edited!

The Portrait Mode is another new function to the G series. When this mode is enabled, it will capture photos with out-of-focus backgrounds. This bokeh effect can be enabled using either the standard or Super Wide Angle lens.

LG has also added new features called the Live Photo mode that records one second before and after the shutter is pressed for snippets of unexpected moments or expressions that would normally be missed. Stickers uses face recognition to generate fun 2D and 3D overlays such as sunglasses and headbands that can be viewed directly on the display making photography even more enjoyable than ever.

GOOGLE LENS AND GOOGLE ASSISTANT HEIGHTEN CONVENIENCE FOR USERS

LG G7+ThinQ also feature the upcoming Google Lens function, which offers a new way to search for information using the latest in AI and computer vision. Available inside Google Assistant and Google Photos, it can deliver more information on objects such as landmarks, plants, animals, books as well as identify text. Users can also visit websites, add a business card to contacts, add events to the calendar or look up an item on a restaurant menu.

AN AUDIO EXPERIENCE CHARACTERIZED BY DOUBLE BASS AND VIRTUAL 3D SOUND

The LG G7+ThinQ also had the Boombox Speaker effect which they create by utilizing the internal space of the smartphone as a resonance chamber to deliver double the bass compared to conventional smartphones. When placed on a solid surface such as a table or hollow container, it will further amplify the bass effect.

The LG G7+ThinQ is also the first smartphone to offer DTS:X, capable of delivering virtual 3D sound for all content up to 7.1 channel audio with earphones. This is the cinematic surround sound effect and makes watching movie on the phone super enjoyable.

Here's an infographic of an overview of LG G7+ThinQ.

Also include a video of an overview of LG G7+ThinQ.

[DBS] Beat the queues at Singapore’s eateries with DBS FasTrack

For those working at the CBD area, you would probably have heard or tried before the freshly brewed tea, coffee and other beverages from this very famous Old Tea Hut.

In fact, it's so popular that customers are willing to queue up to an estimate of 24 minutes for their drinks! So this is what happened during the 24 minutes. Customers arrive and join in the queue for about 12 minutes, takes about 2 minutes to place their orders when it's their turn, waits another 5 minutes for their orders to be prepared and finally takes about 5 minutes to complete the payment.

Understanding and personally experiencing this very real problem, a team at DBS has actually came out with a solution known as the DBS FasTrack, that powers several F&B mobile app.  With the mobile app, it allows customers to order and pay ahead therefore significantly reduce waiting time by 70%. Just think about all the things that can be done during this precious time.

Together with some of bloggers, we tried ordering our drinks with the Old Tea Hut App to experience how convenient it is if we ordered using the mobile app compared to the traditional way of ordering which is queuing up and I'm going to share here the whole process.

1. Search for DBS FasTrack in your Apple or Google app store

A list of restaurant apps will appear. Currently Old Tea Hut, Five Star Restaurant, Old Kim Guan (OKG Express) Koufu (Certain outlets, see notes below) and Boon Tong Kee are among the eateries who have this app, powered by DBS FasTrack that can be downloaded. Download and install the restaurant app that you wish to use, in this case, we are using Old Tea Hut as an example.

More restaurants such as Li Xin Teochew Fishball, Tiong Bahru Bakery, Wolf Burger, Miam Miam, Qi Ji, Aloha Poke, and Food City at Midpoint Orchard are in the pipeline to launch their apps

2. Launch the app and order

Select your order from the list of menu. The staff at DBS highly recommended Salted Lemon, something unique. I ordered a hot Horlicks instead.

3. Cashless Payment

Payment is a breeze and customers can choose to pay using DBS/POSB credit or debit card, or with DBS PayLah!. I paid mine using the DBS PayLah!. All these are done in the comfort of the meeting room at DBS office, MBFC.

4. Receive Notifications when order is ready

A push notification will be sent to you once your order is ready for collection. Only upon receiving this notification, do we leave the office and pop by the store to pick up our order. This is a cool way to beat the queue during rush hour!

5. Grab and Go

In less than 5 minutes time, I got my Hot Horlicks from the store after flashing the collection slip on my mobile phone. There's a priority collection counter for those who ordered through their mobile app too. We are totally getting the stares from those who are physically in the queue!

I'm a happy customer with my favourite drink in my hand. With DBS FasTrack, I can save the queuing and waiting time to relax and have a proper conversation with my friends. It also saves me the hassle to find small change when paying.

CURRENT PROMOTION

Koufu at 100 AM mall in Tanjong Pagar and Square 2 in Novena is the first food court in Singapore to use DBS FasTrack. Koufu has plans to expand usage across its outlets, starting with some 100 stalls islandwide. To celebrate DBS FasTrack's official launch, enjoy 10% off ala carte orders via the Koufu app.
