[Event] Splashtopia @ Palawan Green + Shopping at VivoCity

Splashtopia was back from 7 to 31 March and was held at Palawan Green, Sentosa with a Pirate themed. Thanks Pink for arranging this outing for the girls to go play and have fun. We went for the earliest session to avoid the crowd and we took a cab down.

We arrived slightly too early and the admission hadn't started yet. I was also quite worried as dark clouds were hovering in the sky and it felt like it would rain heavily anytime soon.

Some photos and videos I took during the first part, after a while I kept my phone and just joined in to play with them. This round, my girl was still unwilling to try the long slide. Hopefully, next time she have the courage to do it.

About one hour before our session ends, it started to rain so we went into the tentage area to rest and redeemed some freebies.

I'm a Sentosa Islander member and got to redeem a S$5 Splashtopia voucher when I logged into the app. The staff were also going around to inform and guide us on how to redeem the voucher too. I used it to buy lunch for my girl. The rain didn't seem like it would stop anytime soon, so after eating we left Sentosa.

----------------------------

We went grocery shopping at FairPrice Xtra, VivoCity while waiting for hubby to join us for dinner. Shopping with hubby takes about 5 minutes but shopping with my girl takes hours. Yes, we spent hours just inside FairPrice Xtra. We also came across the M&M roadshow, which was perfect since I wanted to buy some chocolates for my girl's birthday goodie bags. We redeemed 2 tokens for the claw machine and won a $5 NTUC voucher. We also bought some other chocolate which later I won a prize from the contest too. We had dinner at Belle Ville Pancake & Coffee before heading home. It was one of the weekends where we were out from morning to night.

Lok Lok is a popular street food in Malaysia consisting of meat, seafood and vegetables that are served on skewers. Lok Lok are commonly found by the roadside on a mobile truck and was first introduced to Singapore in 2015 before gaining popularity from 2019.

Being Singapore's first Lok Lok Kiosk located in a shopping mall, LOK LOK LOH at VivoCity brings about convenience for those who wants to eat Lok Lok as a snack or even as a main without having to cross the causeway.

Beside the well-loved traditional skewers, one can also find local favourites skewers like dough fritter (YOUTIAO), beancurd skin, pandan chicken, seafood and more at LOK LOK LOH. Keeping to traditions, all ingredients such as the dough fritter are made from scratch every day. The skewer can be either fried or boiled according to preference before adding on their home-made speciality sauces from chilli crab, salted egg, torched mentaiko and a few others. With more than 20 items across meat, seafood and vegetables to choose from, I do had a hard time picking what I want to order. One can be sure of freshness and quality as LOK LOK LOH only prepares the skewers at the point of order.

"Lok Lok was first introduced to Singapore around 2015 and it has gained popularity from 2019 amongst the younger crowd. To bring the authentic experience and convenience of enjoying Lok Lok to more people, we decided to start Singapore's first Lok Lok kiosk in a high-traffic shopping mall which is perfect as a light snack or even a main for all day enjoyment." said Shawn Seah, the founder, on the concept of LOK LOK LOH.

[SINGAPORE] EC House Launches EC Style Premium & LA Kids Cowboy - the First Family Cut & Style Concept Store

As a mother with a toddler girl, I am constantly searching for places from restaurants to shopping malls that are kid friendly so that I can bring my girl along. Recently, I found out about this joint collaboration between EC Style PREMIUM and LA Kids Cowboy that is the first in Singapore to offer the concept of a Parent-Child Haircut and Styling services.

Official Photo of the Store Front
Launch by EC House, customer visiting this outlet will be able to enjoy the services from both EC Style Premium and LA Kids Cowboy under one roof. It is also the first EC Style PREMIUM store to feature professional hair styling services, on top of the brand's renowned quick and fuss-free haircut services.

Their new quality amenities and queue system also enhanced the efficiency for a haircut. Well-known for their bespoke gentleman's haircut services, LA Kids Cowboy offers the same sharp, edgy fashionable haircut and styling services for the kids.

Rena and me having a fun balloon fight!
To be honest, my girl had never visited a proper hair salon since birth and I had been the one cutting her hair. I didn't really have the courage to bring her to a proper one as I'm afraid she would kick a big fuss. Even my hubby's hair was cut by me. Thus, I think it's time for all of us to get a proper haircut by the professionals hair stylish.

Rena is feeling curious about this new place
We started off with Rena at the left side of the outlet which was the LA Kids Cowboy. The friendly staff there first put my girl up on the booster seat and tried to lure her with the iPad, toys, lollipops, everything that kids would love. Initially, my girl was quite calm and I'm hopeful that she would remain this way throughout. However, the moment the hairstylist touched her hair, she wailed out loud.

Both of us covered in this super cute and colourful hairdressing cape that shield our clothings from the fallen hair
Next, they suggested that I carried her on my lap so that she would feel more assured. Just when I thought that this haircut session for my girl would be a disaster, one of the hairstylist, Chris thought of a way to distract her and that was to ask her questions and to get her to repeat after her. Although my girl was still crying, she did managed to get her first ever haircut done! Thank you to all the staffs there for being so patient, I'm so glad my girl got her first hair cut done here. It's super memorable. A pity we didn't took a video of the whole process. The funny part was when Rena saw herself in the mirror, she kept saying, “这个不一样。” (this looks different) 🤣

Official photo of how they style the girls hair
Oh ya, they also provide girls with a hair makeover with complimentary hair-tying services and simple hair accessories! I can't wait for my girl to be big enough to doll up her hair!

My before and after comparison

Next was my turn to get my hair cut as I moved to the right side to EC Style PREMIUM. The hairstylist for me was Max and he did a great job in cutting a bob hairstyle for me! I didn't realized my hair looked so messy and ugly from the back. This was because I did not trimmed my hair regularly enough. The last I cut my hair was months ago. I felt so much fresher and neater with the new hair cut. I looked younger with the new hairstyle too.

Getting herself all wet and I didn't brought another set of clothings for changing

While I was having my haircut, my hubby took our girl out to the outdoor playground which was conveniently located just next to the hair salon outside the door. They sure had a lots of bonding time and getting all wet at the water features there.

Lastly, my hubby also got his hair cut by Max. It was overall a very pleasant haircut service for us.

S$15 NETT Price

The haircut and styling services cost only $15 nett for both children and adults regardless of your hair length or whatsoever. I felt that this was super worth it given that it's really a hard work trying to cut the kids hair. This place would definitely be the place I want to get my family's haircut done in future.

Happy and satisfied us after our hair cut!

Highly recommended place to visit for a fuss free and fun family haircut and hair styling services at a great value price. Do note that they do not provide washing nor booking services. Just have to walk in and any of their hairstylist available will be able to cut for either the adults or kids.

Check them out for your next family hair cut session

Tommy Hilfiger Opening Show at the VivoCity Fashion Festival

It's the season of Spring and that calls for a new set of clothes for the wardrobe. Actually it's just another reason to buy new clothes and VivoCity is a great place to uncover the latest fashion trends.

VivoCity also organised a series of spectacular runway shows and Jess brought me to the opening show at the VivoCity Amphitheatre by Tommy Hilfiger.

The exciting new collection from Tommy Hilfiger features lots of stripes, nautical niceties, bold patterns, exotic prints in a unique blend of colours fabric and textures. Stripes are good. It is said that horizontal stripes can create volume and make a slim person looks not too slim. My favourite strips is the black and white stripes (Zebra). Will never go wrong in that.

The models last catwalk before the fashion show ends. It was really a night of eyes feasting from all the cool and stylish clothing put up by the models from Tommy Hilfiger!

After the fashion show, we went back inside for a private event. It's part of the activities and they've invited up-and-coming stylist Peggy Chang to provide some styling tips for the seasons with the different models.

Known more commonly online as Sixpegs. Never knew that a suit jacket can match with a shorts like that. How do you find this look?

Another look is this male model in a dip-dye shirt. As local guys are not too daring to wear pink or bold bright colours, this dip-dye shirt fades off from pink to blue which looks quite nice for guys actually.

Ending my post with two nice group photos of us at the Tommy Hilfiger backdrop which I've already kept in my photo album. I'm learning to create my own fashion sense too.

Opening Ceremony : 20th “Spring in the City” Cultural, Arts and Travel Fair at VivoCity

You know that Chinese New Year is approaching when you see shops in shopping mall selling clothes in bright colours especially red, when words such as prosperity, fortunes, golden, etc starts appearing here and there, and the most obvious of all is when you start to see lion dance troupes performing. One can never miss a lion dance troupe performing because of the loud music they have when they are performing. The moment I stepped into VivoCity today, I heard the loud drums of the lion dance performance and quickly took out my phone to snap a photo of the lion dance troupe coming down from the escalator.

To usher in a bountiful Lunar New Year, almost all shopping malls will come up with their own celebrations with a multitude of activities and promotions. VivoCity is no exception.

Read on to find out the current happenings in VivoCity.

Jess Baby, Shu Qing and I were seated at the VivoCity amphitheater to witness the Opening Ceremony of the 20th "Spring in the City" Cultural, Arts and Travel Fair. This was my first event for 2013 and I'm excited about it.

These awards winning troupes really captivated me with their stunts. So be sure to catch them in action. It's nice to enjoy some show and to rest our tiring feet after shopping. The cultural performances will also be held at the atrium of Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) from 11 January to 16 February 2013 at 1pm.

A night view of VivoCity from the outside. VivoCity is really a great place for shopping. No wonder it's Singapore's largest retail and lifestyle destinations. They've got everything under one mall. Food, shopping, movie, etc.
