The wait is over! illumi, the World's largest light, sound and multimedia event is here in Singapore. This spectacular event is here to transform the Bayfront Event Space into a breathtaking display of larger-than-life structures and innovative light installations, featuring a whopping 20 million LED lights!

Created by the team behind the acclaimed production Cavalia

Following the success of Cavalia, the acclaimed production which mesmerized Singapore audiences with its majestic horses, acrobats and special effects in 2014, the creative team join forces with Base Entertainment Asia, the region's leading live entertainment company to present illumi, a significant collaboration of these entertainment powerhouses after a decade.

First Hand Experiencing the Magic of illumi on its Opening Night

I'm still buzzing with excitement as I share this post after attending the international premiere of illumi. The experience far exceeded my expectations, leaving me spellbound and feeling like a kid again. As I explored the transformed Bayfront Event Space with my girl and friends (Jaime and Jason, Triple J), I found myself to be transported to a kaleidoscope of colours and lights across the 9 immersive themed worlds. Every spot was incredibly Instagram-worthy - I ended up with over 300+ photos and videos in my photo album and I'll be sharing the highlights from each world here.

Featuring the World's tallest Tree of Lights - THE ILLUMI TREE

The illumi tree is definitely the crowning icon with a breathtaking 47-metre tower of light, this is equivalent to 5 Merlions stacked together in height! Visible from kilometers away, this stunning structure is the first thing that catches the eye even from outside. With 50,000 interactive spheres and 190,000 LEDs, the illumi tree draws and guide visitors as it changes colours every now and then.

THE MAGICAL FOREST

As we stepped into the first world, The Magical Forest, we were greeted by lots of kaleidoscopic trees, crafted from thousands of twinkling lights that transported us to a world of wonder. Wander through the mystical underbrush, vibrant mushrooms, gentle giant snails and flying squirrels. We marveled at the sights of elephants, zebras and flamingos nestled in rainbow-hued trees. In this mystical land, even animals can grow wings, which is truly magical.

THE INFINITE POLES

At The Infinite Poles, the surreal setting was something out of a fairytale as I think about how I would never have a chance to visit North and South Poles in real life. The endless sea of crystalline stalagmites sparkled like diamond, providing a dreamlike backdrop for photos with adorable penguins and cozy igloos.

THE DUNE PALACE

This world is straight out of the Sahara Desert, where thousand of palace lights outshine the stars. Genies grant wishes, camels savor fresh fruits and magic carpets whisk visitor away, revealing the secret to flight in this enchanted village. Here, we also went on a fun ride on the flying chairs, my girl was not too keen to go but I persuaded her to join me.

THE TUNNEL OF COLOURS

As we stepped into the Tunnel of Colours presented by Pacific Light, we were immediately immersed in a kaleidoscope of hues. The LED lights that lined the tunnel's creates a mesmerizing display of colour-changing magic as we moved through it. We joined in and waited for our chance to capture the perfect shot under the ilumi sign.

A LITTLE FUN

THE JURASSIC KINGDOM

Enter Jurassic Kingdom, a vast and primordial realm where dinosaurs rule the night. Hear the dinosaurs roar, spot the smoke effect and spot the tallest dinosaur there.

THE ENCHANTED MAPLE

If autumn is your favourite season, you'll be utterly enchanted by this picturesque setting. Thousands of vibrant red and orange maple leaves that literally illuminate the sky. Take a ride on the carousel horse, swaying to the lively rhythms of traditional folk music. The charming atmosphere is complete with a cozy chicken coop, rustic barn and friendly farm animals. We took some really nice photos under the maple trees.

WALLS OF LIGHTS

Enter the Walls of Lights, with endless curtains of sparkling snowflakes and scintillating stars that light up the sky. Giant shimmering crystals, glittering garlands that drape to the ground makes you believe that you are in a winter wonderland. Check out the festive gnomes too.

PUPPIES AND KITTIES

Immerse yourself in a world surrounded by cats and dogs, where larger-than-life cats and dogs stand on guard. Capture unforgettable moments with hundreds of other adorable cats and dogs from dozens of different breeds in this vibrant, illuminated park.

ILLUMI: SHINING BRIGHT, SUSTAINABLY

With 20 million LED lights, illumi's breathtaking displays are matched by its commitment to sustainability. Their eco-friendly approach includes using energy-efficient lighting technologies, prioritizing recycled materials in installations, optimized energy consumption and minimizing waste. illumi is a magical outdoor experience under the star which is unlike anything seen before in Singapore. We took about 1.5 hours+ in total to finish exploring all the nine worlds.
