[FOOD REVIEW] Yan Xi Palace Steamboat Restaurant 宴喜宫火锅

Yanxi Palace Steamboat Restaurant 宴喜宫火锅 is a newly opened Steamboat restaurant in Singapore offering diners a premium hotpot experience. Occupying The Great Ballroom of Hotel Re!, the location itself may not be that accessible for those who don't drive but it's definitely worth the visit with a little uphill climb!

Met up with Jessie and Meryl at Outram MRT station thinking that we could walk to the restaurant venue but it was a big mistake as we found ourselves stuck at the foot of Pearl Hill Park. Thankfully, Kelvin drove over to pick us up to the venue. I was later told that this place is nearer to Chinatown MRT station instead. The first impression that struck me when I arrived was how grand the whole ballroom is with the high ceiling, carpeted floor, red chair skirting and those fairy lights. It was as if I'm attending a wedding banquet with my friends.

For me to give a good rating to a steamboat place, the soup base they used must first impress me followed by the varieties of dishes. Yanxi Palace Steamboat Restaurant features 8 different soup bases which are prepared daily from scratch, double-boiled and simmered for hours before serving and comes in the choice of a single, dual or trio pot. The Executive Chef and his team uses only the freshest and finest and freshest ingredients to craft the soup bases.

We chose the Buddha Jump Over The Wall, Imperial Elixir Youth and Pepper Pork Stomach & Chicken as our 3 soup bases. My favourite has got to be their Signature Buddha-Jumps-Over-The-Wall soup 御品佛跳墙 which is a must-try. Infused with more than 10 herbs such as Ginseng, cordyceps and other finest ingredients, the soup is nourishing and flavourful at the same time. The Imperial Elixir Youth soup is rich in collagen and is tasty by itself. Drinking the soup here doesn't make me feel thirsty and I do not find myself gulping down with water which says something about the quality of their soup.

As the rest of the dishes were slowly served in, we found ourselves taking lots of photos and videos of the food and even the sauces as the presentation for each and every dishes are all so exquisite and impressive. Sharing some of the interesting highlights of their dishes below.

⭐️ Selected Diced Waygu Beef - $24 ⭐️

One of my most favourite dish although I’m not a beef lover but after trying this, I must say it's so so so good! The meat cube has a high amount of fatty meat and a natural sweetness.

⭐️ Rose Beef Tongue - $18 ⭐️

Crafted to the shape of a rose with the petals made of Beef Tongue and served on a plate of ice. ⁣I find this dish quite exotic as I've never eaten beef tongue before. Try not to overcooked this as it will gets rubbery.

⭐️ Seafood Lollipop - $12 ⭐️

Comes in a set of 5, made with seafood paste and resembling a lollipop, the Chinese name of the restaurant 宴喜宫 is moulded on each and every pieces.

⭐️ Seafood Platter - $68 ⭐️

Fresh assorted seafood like Crayfish, Tiger Prawn, Scallop with Shell, Wild Abalone and Green Lipped Mussels served on a beautiful plated bowl of ice.⁣

⭐️ Rose Tofu - $8 ⭐️

Taste a lot like egg tofu which is smooth and yummy and comes in 4 different colours.⁣

⭐️ Organic Handmade Rainbow Noodles - $12 ⭐️

Air dried handmade noodles and the different colours represent different flavours. ⁣

⭐️ Meat Brothers - $24 ⭐️

A platter of thinly sliced lamb, beef and pork collar on this platter. Not to be missed out when eating steamboat.

⭐️ Minced Shrimp with Fish Roe - $12 ⭐️

Springy shrimp balls with bites of bursting fish roe. Yummy.

We also had the giant cup of Signature, Matcha and Earl Grey Bubble Milk Tea which cost $5 each cup.

We ended the meal with some refreshing ice jelly in three different flavours - Rose, Signature and Osmanthus. Each cup cost $5.
