2 Days 1 Night Tanjung Sepat - Malacca Educational Tour [Part 2/2]

27 July 13 to 28 July 13 - Continued from my blog post [Part 1/2], Malacca is a beautiful historical city with lots of yummy food, sight-seeing and photography opportunity. Due to its special cultural and significance, Malacca was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008. That means the site is being preserved, you can repaint the building but you can't change the way it looks.

I've been to Malacca a few times, but I've never had the chance to see and explore Jonker Street or Jonker Walk as a night market during all my previous trips. I was told by friends that the night market was a good experience so I'm really looking forward.

Our tour guide told us that the fate of the stalls at the night market was uncertain and this weekend may even be the last weekend the night market opens. That is because the government is trying to set up a new ruling to allow cars in. Currently, every Friday to Sunday, when the night market is opened, the whole of Jonker Walk is closed for pedestrian to walk only. No vehicles can enter that whole stretch of road. There's even a small protest going on few weeks before that. Was told that the humans all formed a barrier to prevent the road from opening up to vehicles. Read news here

The latest news I've got as I was typing this post is that the Jonker Walk trial is being extended. Read news here. As a tourist point of view, I wish that the Jonker Walk don't closed down but for those people living there, it might be a big inconvenience to them. No matter what the decision is, I'm glad that I can say I was there before.

Statue of Datuk Wira Gan Boon Leong spotted. He is Malaysia's most famous bodybuilder and have won several prizes including Mr. Asia and Mr Universe. This is not the only statue of him, there's a few more somewhere around which I didn't take photos of.

Jonker Walk, let's go! The night market is similar to our Pasam Malam in Singapore but it's ten times bigger and ten times livelier. It's so crowded we are forming a human jam! When you walked to the middle, there's a big stage where people are singing there.

Happy candy lollipop spotted. Most of the stalls are selling phone cases, clothing, accessories  bags, this is the only stall that sells cute candies. I got their permission to take photos after buying one because it's just too cute!

Spotted at the same stall is this box of super cute Hello Kitty Snow Skin Mooncakes! How can one bear to eat them? Too cute!

A must-buy and must-eat food if you are a durian lover is their durian puff. The size is just right to put the whole puff in your mouth and the durian filling inside is so smooth and creamy and delicious. Can't find this type of durian puff in Singapore. And if you put them in the freezer, defrost it for a few minutes and the filling will be like eating durian ice-cream. If you don't put the whole puff in your mouth and eat it in one bite, it's going to be messy. I missing this yummy durian puff the most.

Me looking annoyed here cause he bought a handheld head massager and decided to leave it on my head, making me look kind of like an alien. He never fails to irritate me and make me angry. Argh!

Snowing? Nope, it's bubbles in the sky.

And it's so hot and stuffy inside so it's best to get some ice cold beancurd. Malay old couple for the well known Lao Ban Dou Hua.

Beautiful handwriting despite her having no fingers.

Going back to hotel. He looks like he's a toy being caught in the toy catcher machine. Hahaha. To accommodate him, I got a ribbon on my head.

The hotel we stayed in. Complimentary wifi, but the breakfast is not as good.

Rise and shine and me looking fresh and ready to depart.

We go back to Jonker Street again. Daytime of Jonker Street and the nicely decorated trishaws.

Taken against the iconic red Christ Church.

Touristy photos shots!

Durian Chendol! Ever noticed that the shops in Malacca are built in such a way that the doors are all very small and but the inside is qutie spacious? This is because last time they used to collect door fee. So the bigger the door, the more expansive the door fees.

Roadside stalls.

As the breakfast provided in the hotel is not up to standard, we ordered our own breakfast.

Lunch time. Every tour will bring us to eat the Nonya food here.

Baba Charlie famous nonya cake shop. The tour guide bring us straight to their home cum shop.

Free and easy shopping time. Went to their shopping centre, Dataran Pahlawan.

After shopping we went to this place.

Hahaha, meme drinks spotted.

LOL drinks spotted.

What we bought.

Dinner at this restaurant. First time trying the dish here. It's famous for their chicken.

The end of the trip as we went back to Singapore. Big thanks to the friendly tour guide called 小叶。He's indian but he knows how to speak and listen to mandarin. He also recommend us to plan our next trip to Kuantan, highly possible next year will go. Thanks to the skillful driver too for some of the roads in Malacca are really very narrow.

Total tour fare (Not including our own personal expeditures) : S$168 per person which includes the 1 night hotel accommodation at a 3 Star Hotel, 1 breakfast (hotel breakfast), 2 lunches, 2 dinner, air-con bus, qualifies Malaysian guide, Group Accident Insurance $10,000 and Medical Insurance $500.

Thanks for reading.
