Ah Boys to Men 2 is a sequel to Ah Boys to Men which was release in November 2012. In the first part, the movie ends with Ken awakened in the hospital only to find his father recuperating in another ward after a car crash due to Ken's foolish action. The movie ended with snippets of the next episode.
Ken returns to Tekong Island for his Basic Military Training (BMT) but this time round, he went back with a change in his attitude by becoming an "on-the-ball" recruit, even more on than Aloysius the "Wayang King." This draws mockery from some of his section mates led by Lobang.
Aloysius came in first for the 2.4km run and he shared his secret to be "no cigarette" causing a proposal to cut down on cigarette. Lobang and a few of the other smokers was angry with Aloysius and thus played a prank by putting rocks into his backpack. Aloysius seek advice from his parents and his father (Chen Tianwen) told him the best solution is to do nothing and there was a CGI fictitious war to explain his theory.
IP Man's girlfriend Mayoki left him and was together with another guy, "Real Bullet" Zhen Zidan. At first, he retaliates by pretending to have a better girlfriend and criticizes Mayoki for having inferior qualities of a woman. Real Bullet released a video showing him and Mayoki in intimated acts and IP Man is so brokenhearted he asked his bunk mates for help.
Lobang plots a scheme to attack Real Bullets and Mayoki at the car-park by throwing heaps of shits mixed with chili and wasabi while they were locked in the car. They managed to escape the chase from Real Bullet's gang members but during the evening while they were celebrating at a restaurant, they were again ambushed by the Real Bullet's gang members. Aloysius ran away but Ken stayed behind to fight with the "leave no man behind" principle in his mind.
Ken parents came to speak to CPT Tham after learning that Ken and the whole group were being punished. Ken father thanks the OC for training Ken to become a real soldier and is against the idea of Ken being punished. The OC makes exception and exclude Ken from punishment but Ken after knowing that he is the only one being excluded asked for permission to continue his punishment.
Lobang attempt to sabotage Aloysius by trying to throw away his magazine after seeing that he was dozing off but ended up he threw his own magazine away. During equipment check, Aloysius gave his own magazine to Lobang and took up the blame. Their friendship turns better.
To undergo an assessment of each of their leadership potential in the Army, the whole platoon have a task to rescue a hostage in a hut in the jungle. The platoon's assessor (acted by Mr Brown) was chased by many wild hogs and the soldiers went to his rescue.
Finally, Ken's father is able to walk during their graduation ceremony The movie ended with the various recruits posting. Guess what? Only Lobang got into the Officer Cadet School (OCS).

When bf told me he received an invitation from Safra MovieMax for the Ah Boys to Men 2 movie screening, I was thrilled. Having watched part 1, it's a must to watch part 2 since it's a continuation of the story. In part 2, there is greater development of the rest of the characters in the platoon. Sometimes, I'm really curious how the guys survived in the Army. Two years together with strangers of different backgrounds just like in the movie. You may meet the well-educated Aloysius or the street-smart Lobang. It seems interesting, giving the guys opportunities to learn to be independent but whenever I asked my guy friends whether Army is fun or not, nobody would say it's fun. Oh, and in this movie, we see more of the actual things the guys went through like the route marches, grenade throwing lessons, battle inoculation courses and the outfield training. So during these scenes, I would ask my bf whether is it the same as his or not? Haha, and he would nod and say, "Yah, but some part a bit exaggerated." Understand even more of what the guys went through in scenes like the shellscrape digging and how they have to protect their "Wife" when they were sleeping at night. Last time when my brother told me he have to dig a hole to sleep, I really cannot imagine how it looks like. Towards the end, we see the friendships and brotherhood the platoon have build up and it's really nice. Kudos to director Jack Neo to be able to inject humor into the movie too. There's a lot more funny scenes that would really makes one laugh out loud.
