Inception + Despicable Me

日有所思，夜有所梦。

This Chinese saying means that the thoughts we have in the day time will be reflected in the dreams at night. Throughout recorded history, there have been much speculation and interest in this topic of dream. Some say it's our sub-conscious mind at work, other perceive dreams as signs from gods. There's not much correct answers to it. I have heard amusing stories about how my friend can continued the same dream even after she awakes, or even how the dream sometimes became reality. Dreams can be so real that we find ourselves in cold sweat if it's a horrible dream or weeping when we encounter something sad in our dream. 

In this movie, Inception, the storyline plays around with this topic. Dom Cobb played by Leonardo DiCaprio is a skilled thief who is trained to extract secrets from the subconscious of people when they are in the dream state. The first mission failed and he was given another job that can free himself from the authorities and get back home. This job is much harder and it's called inception. That is to plant an idea into someone else mind instead of extracting them. Their target was a young man who's father is dying soon and he wanted him to break up his empire.

"Your mind is the scene of crime" pretty much sums up what this movie entails.  

After that mind boggling movie, we went to watch something more relaxing. That is Despicable Me.

With Steve Carell voicing Gru, this mega villain together with his army of robotic minions plans to steal the moon just to be the world's biggest baddie after hearing his competitors stealing the Great Wall of China. At first, we see how nasty Gru was. He's the type of person who would put his happiness on other people's sorrow but his lives changes when 3 adorable orphans came to live with him. Out of the three sisters, Agnes is the most popular with the audiences as she's already so famous with her two signature phrase that can be seen in the trailers, "It's so fluffy I'm gonna die." and "Does this count as annoying?" So when it's her scene, I actually can hear some school girls mumbling, "she's so cute!! etc." Beside Anges, the minions are also super cute as they run about and talking in their minions language. Overall, it's a heartwarming and funny movie.
