Hokkaido Trip - Shiraoi Aino Village, Furano Tomita Farm, Furits Winery

A healthy breakfast is the way to start the day. Love the colourful combination of my breakfast. Only during holiday do I have a change to had such a nice breakfast. Back in Singapore, it's always bread, biscuit, cereal. Boring. Hehe.

A snowy doggie.

It's the bear again. This bear is called "Lu" and is just 9 years old. The Ainu usually hunt the bears during hibernation and bring the captured bear cub to the village and breed it with care as the "God's child".

We have come to the Shiraoi Aino Village.

We were there for their performances.

Their rooftop are slanted so that the snow won't accumulate during winter. They also hang the fishes which they've caught to dry at the rooftop.

This is a picture of a woman. Noted in the Ainu tradition, the woman are those who grows beard not the males but nowadays they don't follow this tradition anymore.

We took a toilet break as the next destination is a long 3 hours ride. Finally saw a vending machine selling food. Vending machines are popular in Japan but mostly in the city areas. In Hokkaido, this is the first vending machine we saw that sells food. We usually just see those that sells drinks which are quite common. A couple from my tour group bought the food and they found it quite nice.

I bought a melon ice-cream while SY bought wedges.

We had a buffet style lunch and their curry rice is delicious.

We also saw our famous mediacorp actress Zoe Tay there with a big stomach. Heard she came with a private tour guide. Not bad leh. Go so far still can see "star".

Nice yummy food.

Big cuddly bear welcomes us to Furano!

Farm Tomita is the places where the flowers of different seasons blooms. This month is the month for the sweet smelling Lavender which is good for relaxation and calming purposes. Too bad it's raining and we couldn't really enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Usually during Apr-May is the Cherry Blossom season, Jun-Jul is the Water Lily and Lavender, Jul-Aug is the Sunflower and Oct is Maple.

These wines are to be keep and stored for as long as 100 years!

Our last stop of the day ends at the fruits winery factory. Here we see how the wine are being made and we got to sample the wine too. Bought two bottles back.

Dinner time back to a new hotel. Today's hotel is not as grand and the hot spring is small but the attractive point about this hotel is that we have melons for buffet!!! Japan's melon is different from Singapore's. It's sweet and melts in the mouth. So this eat as much as you can buffet for the melon is an attraction for us. We don't have to pay the pricey price to eat them. :)

After dinner, which is about 9pm+ we went out to take a stroll. The whole place was like a dead city. Nobody is outside walking, no cars either. We can stand on the road as we like and it's also quite dark. Lucky the 3 of us are brave enough to explore the place but there's really nothing much to see. So we just enjoyed the breeze before we head back and sleep.
